Great experience!

I've done 1on1 and group therapy and both helped me a lot by getting insight in what I'm feeling, how I react to what I'm feeling and a lot more.

You're Doing the Work

I had a very wonderful coaching experience, being coached for many months through my issues. The coach was attentive, had a good memory, was very empathetic, allowed me to discuss what was on my mind, and was excellent at guiding the conversation. The coach is a mirror for you, YOU have to show up and do the work to process. The coach will provide you assignments and tools needed to help alleviate your issues but you have to show up and do the work. They will definitely cheer you on and it feels like you have a very good friend dedicated to your well-being. I would recommend it but you have to know yourself well enough, are you ready to put in effort or do you need more help (like medicine)? If the latter, perhaps you should see a professional in your area first. For me, I'm in a MUCH better place thanks to my coaching experience and very grateful for it!

High Quality Coaching and Strong Sub-clinical Service

My coach was excellent. I found myself regularly rating her pretty highly on the post-evaluation surveys. I signed up for Career Coaching and found myself focusing on career-adjacent matters 30% of the time and the rest of the time talking about things that could probably be topics for therapists. That said, I feel like I had some conversations better than what I've had with therapists in the past (i.e. conversations that actually felt like they led to me taking productive action to address the things that caused me problems). I'm probably going to switch to therapy after my last coaching session in a couple weeks, but I feel like I will be able to make better use of that time for reaching my goals now.

1-on-1 coaching is good and useful

It's good but keep in mind they are not professionals. The fact that you have a scheduled time with someone to work on your stuff helps a lot, regardless of how they do.
In my particular case, I feel I am doing most of the work, but my coach also helped. The thing is, the process is helping me have a better life.

The coach was a good listener and did a great job of helping me come up with my own realizations about how I was approaching certain situations. It gave me confidence in my choices and helped me be more clear about the path forward, both in my relationships and in my career. Great experience, and they'll definitely be the first stop if I ever want to have coaching again at a different time of my life.

Be honest.

The coach I had was a wonderful listener and helped filter out what to focus on more. She also does a great job in putting my feelings and thoughts into sentences.

If you are planning to continue your coaching sessions, I recommend just being open and honest about your thoughts and feelings. The root of the problem will be discovered faster.

Since my coach was able to understand what I am going through, the feedback really helps me.

Healthy Gamer Group Coaching Experience

My experience was with group coaching. I found the group setting beneficial. I found this coaching helped me see aspects of myself in other people. I took away insights in almost every session (I had 31 total sessions before our group decided to close down).

Our coach was empathetic and intuitively knew when to steer the conversation and when to let it play out. She often demonstrated the skills we were encouraged to practice in our group: active listening, validation, compassion, and authenticity. She was integral in developing a space where we could show up authentically and be compassionate each week.

My problem, as I see it now, was based on my relationship with video games. It had deteriorated to the point where I would consider it an addiction. With the help of the coaching program, and some other resources, I finally made a decision to quit on May 11, 2023. However, this is just my journey; I still believe video games can be a great source of community and an awesome space to play. I have abused them to the point where I can no longer play anymore. Since then, I have become much more physically active, finally finished things I have procrastinated on for years, started eating healthier, have more energy, am back to working on my spirituality, and generally doing much better. I attribute this heavily to the work I did in coaching and the influence of the other members.

It was inspiring to see people grow, too. I think that is one of the benefits of group coaching (besides being the cheaper option). You get to have peers to relate to and improve with.

My brief experience with customer service was also excellent. They responded politely and swiftly, outside of operating hours. My support ticket was for a refund for an unused session of coaching.

The only issue I encountered was when I couldn't attend a session. I thought I had read somewhere that a session wouldn't incur a charge if you let your coach know at least 24 hours in advance. So, I let her know, and I still was charged. Not too big of a deal for me, but something worth noting.

Is it worth the price? Well, for one, my mom signed me up with a different program to help with gaming addiction. Comparatively, HG Coaching is less than a third of what that program charged my mom (yikes!). HG Coaching is much broader and all-encompassing, so it's not quite as focused as this other thing, nor does the coach have as much experience with video game addiction. Still, considering the experience I had, I feel that the price was reasonable considering the experience I had.

We also got access to all the modules of Dr. K's Guide during our coaching (access revoked once your sessions are up). I explored part of the meditation module; it was helpful and informative, easy to follow with worksheets to help reflect on the information from the videos. It was decent of them to include this.

I had an extremely positive experience overall with Healthy Gamer Coaching. As with anything, you get what you put into it. If you're willing to engage with the process, you'll find much to learn and space to grow with the program.

1:1 Coaching Review:

1:1 Coaching Review:
A coach is 'randomly' assigned to you based on the coaches available, no figuring out of they are a good match.
The coach never took notes and between sessions forgot everything, we had a lot of repeated conversations (Probably because they didn't take notes).
There were no agenda items going into each session and the coach preferred that I 'led' each session, but it circled into me surfacing information that was previously told to the coach and trying to build on it, to which they have no memory of suck conversations.
No action items going out of each coaching sessions and no reflection at the end, which really got me questioning, what was the value in that session?

The coach eventually let it slip that he had 40 other clients to see that week alone.. which explains the complete lack of professional attitude, a therapist/coach should not any anywhere near that number and it honestly made the whole experience feel like a factory, designed to pull in significant money for little to no value.

I honestly feel like it's borderline scamming.

Fantastic, accessible guidance

This was my third time doing the coaching program. I stayed with my coach for 40 sessions over a one year period, and previous did two rounds of 16 sessions each in prior years.

My experience was excellent. My coaches have been thoughtful and helpful, making me feel like an equal and allowing me to drive the area of focus that I’m most thinking about. The coaches are great at making connections, exploring reasons behind actions and feelings, and providing a fresh perspective. I would recommend anyone try this program, especially since it is incredibly easy to get started. In my experience, a lot easier than finding therapy.

10/10, the online guide and resources you get access to plus the coaching every week has completely changed my life. But - only if you're willing to go through it.

No attempt at patient screening

They happily accepted my money without taking the time to decide whether they could actually help me. I get that they aren't qualified to diagnose anything, but they should at least try to determine whether the severity of the symptoms are a match for coaching.

Hypocrites and Frauds

Hypocrites and frauds. They claim to care about helping people but are happy to let millions suffer when they could easily help, even when they would have been compensated. I was a long time subscriber and a customer and they treated me incredibly rudely with immense disrespect.

I signed up for the group coaching

I signed up for the group coaching, at first it was nice to have people to relate to, but the time spent wasn't particularly productive and a huge portion of my time was either listening to one member or two members going at it. Once we got some coaching on taking back the time for the good of the group, things might've been better, but the coach assigned to us missed more sessions than attended over the last few months. I forgot why I even signed up in the first place since the continuity was lost. I totally understood why our coach was missing, personal stuff, but a turning a week in between session to 2, 3 weeks. regularly, was too much plus I was making room in my tight schedule consistently for an inconsistent service. I wished make up sessions were done quicker, I wished the rules that applied to members regarding missed sessions also applied to coaches, and that I had a better experience because I was hopeful going in.

I got a refund and customer service was responsive. Maybe over time they will be better but I can't recommend due to my personal experience. Also different coaches and people will have different experiences. In the customer service email replies, they said they had no clue this was happening, so this tells me their central leadership isn't keeping track of coaching attendance, also, that they have inconsistent CSR representation because I had previously emailed them about the problems I've had with them several times before cancelling and requesting a refund.

I would've left 2.5 stars if I could, 2 stars instead of 1 because I still think they're legit trying to help.
