Very poor performing platform.

Very poor performing platform.
Very slow for funds to appear in account. Takes around 5 days for $ to show in Stake.
Customer service with Stake is very poor / unsatisfactory/slow.
I wish I had read the most recent reviews on this site. I would never have used Stake if I had.
Etoro is far better I've had no issues with them. With Etoro when you deposit funds to your account they show up immediately.
Stake does have a lot more stocks available than Etoro but Stake is a poor platform with very poor support. Stake is a disappointing experience, I've ditched it.

Please do not use this platform

Please do not use this platform. The customer service couldn't do anything apart saying it will be fixed the next day.

I tried to transfer money for express option on Monday. The only option that available was to send the funds on Wed afternoon. How ridiculous.

And I tried again on Tuesday for express option to be fixed.
Again, they said due to technical issue, the express option will be avaible for the next day.

The customer services were like robots. They couldn't solve anything much and don't really care about customer.

Please stay away from this platform if you don't want to missout all the opportunities to trade.

very slow

I like the platform, but my experience is, when i needed to sell the stocks the most, it would freeze and not let me sell,

it has happened numerous occasions, where i was unable to sell, and take advantage of a particular stock, i was left holding the bag and lost a lot of money

the app itself os mobile friendly and easy to use, only downside for me, is the app in multiple occasion does not load properly on desktop and on mobile, ive tried shutting down the app and reopening it

exact same issue, therefore i lost a lot of money
for me ideally not the bet up for myself who trades more

No contact number and response of 24…

No contact number and response of 24 hours on any inquiries. (People that forgot their password has to wait til they respond in 24 hours hopefully. Me and my partner are both trading and surprised to see that its showing different price on our mobile app on a live data. Try it and see for yourself. I was also charged $144 bank fee for using our bankcard instead of poli which is free. Beginners very expensive mistake. As the transaction detail is hidden on the tab.

Simple to use

Firstly, I'd like to say that I knew next to nothing about stocks and shares, but the app made it so easy for me! As a UK user, it's frustrating that I can't use the website as the app wasn't working a couple of months ago. However, when I kept receiving an error message today, I didn’t even contact Stake, and they emailed me to advise me to update the app to see if that helps, and it did. I would definitely recommend for anyone like me who just needs a simple to use app!

Terrible customer support

Terrible customer support, it nearly doesnt exist.
Wants you to use Poli, which technically removes some security banks give you for online activities, because it wants your banking password! Otherwise wants you to use your own money via debit card but you have to wait 60 days for withdawal.

Haven't had any problems. Low fees

Haven't had any problems. Easy to use interface. Only problem is right when markets open it is slow but other than that very good! And I'm from Australia

I like this app a lot

I like this app a lot. Some complain about various things, but from Australian user perspective:. Good! Try getting into the US equities market some other way... Not easy.

I made a bank transfer since a week…

I made a bank transfer since a week ago, Stake called me on the 28/08/2020 saying they will send the funds back because the address says Venezuela, which I explained and showed them I am living in Australia and the account is from USA (Amerant Bank) and until today, no one knows where is my money, I have called and email them many times and all the time I have to explain the same, it looks like they don't read the email either, now Stake Australia said it is the broker responsibility which I don't understand because they are my broker and at the moment my money is in somewhere in the space or the world, I don't know and they don't know as well. I don't recommend send money to this broker from the US, I have all the evidences and everything and people can contact me in order to check I am telling the true, even though they explained the problem is the reference in the transfer which I totally understand, at this point on time they haven't sent the money back to my bank account and when I contact them they don't know anything about the money (Australia) and I have been told that they need to contact the broker in USA, dear Stake I processed the transfer to that broker account on the 21/08/2020 and it has been a nightmare since there

Best way to buy US stocks direct using an SMSF

Stake has been a great experience for me and I regularly recommend it as a solution for people looking to buy US stocks (either personally or via their SMSF). I've been using Stake for over 3 years both personally and via my SMSF.

I've read people complaining about the FX costs to transfer AUD/USD however this is something you get hit with across ALL BROKERS and banks and Stake is comparatively lower - especially with smaller amounts. With higher amounts above AUD$25k there is the option of using a different FX provider and then transferring cash to your USD Stake account that way.

HOT TIP: Use Stake via a desktop browser as it gives you the 'Bank Transfer' option whereas for me on the iOS app it only provides POLi and debit/credit card which cost more in fees.

Timing of my transfers to have funds available to trade from AUD to USD fpr me has typically been 48 hours max. Some people complain as they have to transfer to the Macquarie account, then across to the Stake USD trading account and that 'double-hop' can take an extra day or two which is the slowness of the Australian banking system not Stake.

I've never experienced the app or Stake platform be laggy and the customer support has always been excellent. They could potentially offer phone support for PAYING CUSTOMERS on the Stake Black brokerage package.

I read someone say 'they will keep any dividends you would have received' - this is factually incorrect. Dividends are paid into the USD account and are clearly visible on the reports. They even ensure the W8-BEN forms are complete which reduces the withholding tax for us non-US people.

Apologies for the long review but Stake is a great solution and app, although some inexperienced investors struggle with some of the realities that exist for Australians looking to invest direct in the US market.

I’m surprised about the negative reviews TBH

I’m surprised about the negative reviews. So far my experience has been great with Stake.com.au app. I admit that potentially for a professional trader it may appear slow and lack some features of desktop trading platforms. For a newbie and novice investor, I found it great. I do believe the trades could execute faster, but that is my only criticism.

High fees

High fees, there are many other brokers with less or zero fees. 0.5% fee for every top up and withdraw is unacceptable! It also asks a £5 fee for the W-8BEN form is also ridiculous. Stay away from them.

They seem to be on there early stages…

They seem to be on there early stages of development and are good at taking constructive critisism from my experience on the phone. I have not been on the app for long but what put me off was the significant bank transfer fees and the slow processing of unsettled funds.

The employee told me that it would be addressed. From the big brokerages out there they have a long way to go. The UK and US market brokerages are highly competitive and from my experience 212 in UK dominates and in the US robinhood if they want to be seen on the same level they have to start improving faster.

Put £50 in made £2ish on my stock sold…

Put £50 in made £2ish on my stock sold my free gopro stock for profit, sell both stocks in green, go to with withdraw my money and some how I'm out of nearly £3 after they take the fees to withdraw my own money total scam needs to be removed.

Say goodbye to hellostake.

All time limits advertised or represented are not kept. The software is clumsy at best and useless at worst.Forget it if you are a trader. If you are buy and hold you will still tear your hair out waiting for things to be set up as promised. Great concept lacks implementation. Plenty of room for a real operator to make these people redundant. Like Elvis my money will be leaving the building.

Slow Slow Slow

I do not recommend this platform for trading. Like the reviewers have mentioned I have put through market orders and that just came through minutes after. Absolutely disgusting. I tried to cancel those orders, they did not even cancel. Stay away if you're a trader.
