Was great, now awful

I’ve been with Mistr for about 5 years now and the journey I’ve been on has been quite a ride. The tl;dr of it all is in the beginning it was great; awesome communication through the portal, email, and text. The service started falling off about a year ago (2024/25) and now they’re absolutely horrid to deal with.

Because I am trans (FtM), I have to be on Truvada and not Descovy. This last telehealth visit I confirmed with the doctor that I would be prescribed Truvada because of a paperwork issue that’s happened twice in the past with them sending the wrong prescription. The doctor assured me that I would be getting the correct medication. I then confirmed again while filling out paperwork through the portal that I would be taking Truvada, and again told I would be getting it. I come to find out now that they’re sending the wrong prescription to the pharmacy and now I have to go through a whole bunch more waiting for them to get their act together because of their own mistake. I have less than a weeks worth of meds left now and will be off them for however long they take to sort this issue out.

They also used to be way more proactive when having to fill out documents and set up appointments for renewing information, now you better have your own calendar reminders for things or you won’t get your meds in time.

I appreciate very much what they do for the community and especially with their insurance program assistance, but these consistent mistakes are making me look into other services. I don’t know what happened in the last year or two to make all this incredibly difficult, but it needs to go back before the whole of the community stops using their services.

Test vial labels and prescription problems

Test vials come with the labels pre-attached making it impossible to write information on them. My first drugs were mailed to me with no issue. However, the second time Mistr contacted me saying my insurance wouldn’t cover their pharmacy and asked me to provide them with a different pharmacy so I did. I kept checking the pharmacy app to see when my medication was available and saw that they’ve been trying to contact the prescribing doctor. They suggested I contact the prescribing doctor. So I have sent I don’t know how many messages to Mistr asking them to resolve this issue. It is still unresolved. I have been without the medication for over two weeks now. Needless to say, I’m getting very frustrated. I’m going to seek another provider.

MISTR has been a literal life-saver for me! I did not have the insurance or ability to get PReP and MISTR made it a seamless process. The at home testing is certainly convenient, the regular dr visit call is non-judgement and the dr is easy to take with. Finally the access to PReP is the most incredible aspect. I didn’t even know where to “start” on my own.

MISTr has been a literal lifesaver

MISTr has been a literal lifesaver, and they have helped me to get on PrEP and doxy pep at no cost, and with the relative ease and privacy of home testing. MISTr has also been excellent in terms of communication and answering my questions and concerns in an expedient manner. For my part, I’ve got nothing but praise and thanks for this fantastic service and all the folks at MISTr. Much appreciated!!!

Better options exist

There's continuously a problem with obtaining my medication. Customer service is pretty useless with cookie cutter responses that don't actually answer the questions asked.

Cookie-cutter texts

Cookie-cutter texts. Nobody responds via phone. Pharmacy issues. This could easily be dealt with via phone. But nobody seems to read the texts detailing the issues I have been dealing with (my insurance company wanting to work with a different pharmacy).
Dealt successfully with this a few years ago. But now dealing with this--unsuccessfully--again.

DO NOT JOIN MISTR

DO NOT JOIN MISTR! Every month I have to battle with Mistr to get the medication. They always send it a month late...every time. I must start over every 3 months because they refuse to send the medication on time. You will experience extreme delays, unprofessionalism, excuses, and basically people that do not care if you join Mistr. You have been warned.

Disastrous

I found this company's service to be shockingly inept. It's a complete logistical nightmare. The experience was utterly frustrating and made me question their entire operation. There are plenty of other options available. Please go elsewhere.

I waited over a month for test results let alone a prescription...…

I waited over a month for test results with lab delays. Then since receiving doctor approval, it's been another two weeks waiting to hear anything from the pharmacy. I've sent texts in the "doctor" and "pharmacy" message center portals with no response in over a week. Also called the phone number (always goes to voicemail and never have been able to talk to a person) and left voicemails and no response in over a week as well. The doctor's original message said support would reach back out within 4-6 hours on most business days. This is ridiculous!!

DO NOT USE MISTR UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! THEY WILL LEAVE YOU HIGH AND DRY WITH NO ANSWERS AND NO MEDICATION!! RUN DON’T WALK AWAY FROM THEM!

I’m compelled to write this review to let others know that my experience recently utilizing MISTR was an absolute nightmare in every way shape and form! They are clearly incapable of responding to repeated requests as to status of enrollment, which pharmacy is sending out your med’s, when that happen, and virtually any other question you have for their doctors and support staff. What is even more concerning and extremely troubling is that upon attempting to do a simple 3 month refill after your required lab work has been completed(and that is another disaster) they will leave you with NO MEDICATION as they fumble about for weeks and weeks, providing you with no updates of any kind whatsoever and after daily inquires by myself to my doctor and other customer service representatives. MISTR clearly knew that Gilead Access had a new policy in place effective May 5, 2025 whereby certain patients medication would be processed and filled by Gilead’s pharmacy instead on one of their other partner pharmacies. They knew this right along, they blatantly did not tell me upfront but instead dragged this along for weeks providing misinformation, lying to me when they said they had finally completed my enrollment application with Gilead and it had been submitted to them, but upon checking with Gilead more two times in fact MISTR had never in fact sent in the enrollment application causing me to once again try and reach a customer service representative to find out what was exactly going on? Again, no response, so I messaged my doctor at MISTR, who said he couldn’t do anything and would send my message to him to customer service which I found extremely troubling as your doctor is ultimately responsible for you care and has a ethical and legal responsibility to you to make sure your medication is refilled in a timely manner so I’m not run out of you’re medication as I’m today still without weeks later but he couldn’t be bothered.

I’m honestly so distributed by the course of events here and after reading other reviewers on this app having very much the same experience recently, I had planned on filing a complaint with the Health Department here in my state to investigate this matter, however now I believe this to be a systemic problem and I’m contemplating filing a written complaint with the US ATTORNEYS OFFICE in my state as they certainly have the vast resources available to investigate companies such as MISTR, who in my opinion need to be put under a microscope heed since clearly, I don’t believe they should be engaged in any type of medication management or any other health related businesses.

I’d encourage all of you who have experienced what I have been going through, and still DON’T have my medication at this very moment to file a written complaint with the US ATTORNEYS OFFICE in the district in your state. This type of “medical care” is clearly troubling and should be investigated by the proper authorities who I believe is the US ATTORNEYS OFFICE and obviously the US DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE.
