Morning Tide cottage, Mumbles

Cottage accommodation was spacious with a huge kitchen. Nice surprise was a dishwasher as this was not mentioned in the write up. Great views from patio and comfortable garden furniture.
We didn’t use the fire as it was summer time. However, huge table and chairs in front of fireplace. Probably would have been better locating table elsewhere. Managed to park easily in various roads nearby.
Seaside within walking distance and The Mumbles is a charming town. Wonderful castle nearby. Lots of varied restaurants within 20 minute walk. We took a taxi, quite reasonable, to Swansea theatre one night.
Negative was no warning about double yellow lines on both sides of road outside cottage. Managed to pull up on pavement opposite to unload. Not easy as road at this point on a bend. Another negative was the key safe. Located a few inches above the ground I had to kneel on the floor to operate it. Difficulty keying numbers in properly and ended up with the whole box coming away in my hand.
Would have been nice to have been left a pint of milk in the fridge!
Lovely holiday despite the negatives.

Fantastic stay, Hart family

Fantastic stay, was a beautiful lodge filled with comfort and equipped with all the essentials you will need for a break away. Hot tub was brilliant and ready to use on arrival.

Owner was brilliant very hands on and helpful.

Shops are around 20 drive
Beaches between 15 - 20min drive depending on which one you want to visit either one is just as beautiful.

Will definitely visit again with the family.

A Real Gem

The owners, Chris and Tina, are lovely, welcoming people. The accommodation is clean, comfortable and well equipped. As a dog owner, the large, fully-enclosed front and rear gardens are marvellous. There are quiet walks along the canal so close to home. The road is quiet, so you sleep well, yet, remarkably, you are only 5 minutes from North Walsham town centre. It offers some nice shops and cafés and even a large supermarket. You don't have to travel very far to Blickling and Felbrigg Halls and the seaside at Overstrand and Mundesley. The guestbook shows that so many people pay the Acorn Annex a return visit. That says it all.

Well equipped cottage

This comfortable cottage is located on a working farm. It is interesting to see how a dairy farm works. You will enjoy all the privacy indoors. Outdoors you can sit on your own terrace or use the lovely garden. The location is good to make some nice trips in this area of North Wales.

Premium Cottage Let Down by Pool Issues, But Complaint Eventually Resolved

Update: Since posting my original review, Holiday Cottages have contacted me directly to discuss my complaint. Following that conversation, they apologised for the experience and have offered a partial refund, which I have accepted. I therefore wanted to update my review to reflect the final outcome.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it’s important to share both the positives and the negatives.

We booked what was marketed as a premium holiday property for over £9,000, with one of the main reasons for choosing it being the private swimming pool. Within approximately one hour of arriving, we reported that the pool was not in an acceptable condition. The water was cloudy, the bottom could not be clearly seen, there were leaves floating in it, and it did not appear clean or inviting. As our group included children, we were not comfortable using it.

Unfortunately, we were told that no pool maintenance was available over the weekend and that nobody could attend until Monday, meaning we lost the use of one of the property’s key features for a significant part of our holiday.

When the contractor attended on Monday, the water became noticeably clearer and it was then evident that the bottom of the pool required a thorough clean. In my opinion, the pool was not presented to the standard you would expect from a premium holiday property. I also remain of the view that the pool heating should be checked, as it never reached what I would reasonably describe as a heated temperature during our stay.

Aside from the issues with the pool, I want to be fair and say that the cottage itself was excellent. We really enjoyed the property, its location, and the rest of our holiday, and had the pool been in the expected condition from the outset, our experience would have been a very positive one.

My biggest frustration was initially with the way the complaint was handled, as I felt our concerns were dismissed rather than acknowledged. However, following further discussions, Holiday Cottages reviewed the matter, apologised for the inconvenience caused, and offered a £450 refund, which I appreciate. While I still believe the issues should have been resolved more quickly during our stay, I’m pleased that they ultimately listened to my concerns and reached a resolution.

Overall, I hope Holiday Cottages and the property owner take on board the feedback regarding the pool’s cleanliness and heating, as addressing those issues would significantly improve the experience for future guests.
