This company is paradise for scammers !
They're advertising with a lot of marketing lingo that it's safe and they "use technology to detect fraudulent activity by verifying user accounts, giving you confidence in the authenticity of owner identities".
It's obviously not, as you will read. Their 'fraud detection' technology is a joke and probably built in Lego. Basic fraud detection does a better job than what they claim to use.
Result is we lost over 4000 GBP on a scam case, ran entirely on their platform. Their poor platform security allows people to post fake houses, send you messages using their channels, pretending to be homeaway customer support and even worse: HomeAway provides the ability on their platform to upload their payment instructions, like coming from HomeAway themselves. They use HomeAway letterheads and even HomeAway named (false) bank accounts that give you the impression that you pay using their 'secure payment service'
So, you think you are dealing with them, using their channels and you're using their secure payment service. Result: Money is gone where the bank even figured out earlier what happend than HomeAway themselves.
The customer service after is complete useless. You can't get a Nederlandse language speaker on the phone, they promise to call you back but never do. They are great in standard emails though. You can't email them back anymore, since they closed there support-cs(att)homeaway.co.uk mailbox. A simple question to speak to a senior customer support rep is ignored. Go somewhere else and ignore this place.
