My Experience and Concerns When Enquiring With HonestVillas

I recently enquired about a villa through HonestVillas and wanted to share my experience to help others make informed decisions.

When I contacted them, I was immediately offered a 20% discount, which felt unusual for a villa rental. I was also told that payment could only be made by bank transfer, with no option for card payment or any form of financial protection. As they are a Spanish company, they are not ABTA or ATOL protected, which made the bank-transfer-only requirement more concerning.

While researching, I found the same villa listed with another company, who told me they were the only authorised agent for that property. This authorised company is ATOL and ABTA protected and accepted card payments, which offered far more security and reassurance. I also noticed the photos on HonestVillas’ listing appeared to be identical to those used by the authorised company, which raised further questions.

In addition, many of the reviews I read for HonestVillas seemed unusually similar to each other. When I queried them about the villa’s availability and the authorisation issue, I was suddenly told the property was no longer available—despite the authorised company confirming it was still available.

In the end, I decided not to book through HonestVillas, but I wanted to share the red flags I personally encountered so others can do their own due diligence.

Our trip to Ibiza was for a special birthday and Villa Vava in Cala Vadella was the perfect setting. It felt so exclusive and chic. The three bedrooms were all a good size and the whole place was beautifully designed. I was a bit worried about the price but honestly it was worth every penny for the luxury and privacy we got. The website made everything clear from the start. A memorable trip for all the right reasons.
