Prepaid Cancellable Reservation Probably a Scam

In June 2024 I booked (pre-paid, cancellable) a nice hotel in New Orleans through Hotels in America near 2025 Super Bowl time when many hotels are sold out or charging ridiculous premiums. I felt lucky to get the place at all, let alone at a reasonable price, which was lower than posted at the hotel's own website. While trying to book another hotel a week apart through another on-line service, Traveluro, I became suspicious that Traveluro was a scam after calling Traveluro to ask some questions. After researching Traveluro, I decided not to proceed with the Traveluro booking and that experience raised concerns about Hotels in America. I checked with the hotel directly the next day and learned they had no record of a reservation. I checked with Hotels in America and was reassured that the "confirmed" reservation was good, but that the reservation was more than 200 days away and the hotel would not recognize the details of the information until closer to the check-in date. Back to the hotel, which claimed not to do business through Hotels in America or even to have heard of it, and did not recognize my confirmation number. Plus, my dates were booked, and none of the booked dates had my name or the name of Hotels in America. Then I checked reviews, such as Trustpilot, and called my credit card company to report a fraud in the pending transaction. Fortunately, I have other credit cards and can manage to have my card cancelled (while I am travelling), which is how the credit card company proceeded. I did not bother calling Hotels in America to "cancel" and request a refund. Maybe that was unfair, but the indications were overwhelming that that the reservation was bogus and money is best recouped sooner than later. It would have been horrible to be stuck in New Orleans for two days before my flight with nowhere else in the city to stay at the last minute when the city is already booked close to capacity more than six months out.

Don't book with them

Don't book with them. I was put on the do not rent list at a hotel. No big deal I just went to another one but the hotel said I'd have to go through hotels America for a refund. Was denied the refund it wasn't even my money but now I have to take the money out of my paycheck to pay the person back.

ZERO STARS - DO NOT USE THEM

ZERO STARS - DO NOT USE THEM TO BOOK ANYTHING! We clicked on specific dates and clicked “confirm”. When we got the email confirmation, the dates were completely different. We immediately called them and let them know that something had happened with their website and told them the dates we actually booked for. We were greeted with “our website didn’t glitch. You chose the wrong dates.” See, the funny thing about that is it’s for MY BIRTHDAY. I told her that and she said “you must have clicked on the wrong dates. We aren’t wrong. There’s a no refund policy. We can’t do anything about it.” I told her yet again “I know when my birthday is and these are not the dates we clicked on.” She just repeated herself. I tried again to explain to her as I could tell she wasn’t truly understanding. She just repeated herself. I asked to speak to someone above her. She said “they will tell you the same thing.” So, we filed with our bank and got our money back. This website is a SCAM. DO NOT use this place. They are here to take your money and smile. I told them I would write a review on this and she said “ok. We do not refund.” Looks like they did “refund” because we got our money back and they are now being investigated. Please head all our words. Please do not fund them in anymore scams.

Horrible Horrible Horrible.

Horrible Horrible Horrible.
Terrible customer service...if you can even call it that. Unhelpful and will bounce you from person to person and then tell you to call the hotel. But the hotel can't help because these guys made the reservation and are as incompetent as they come. No one knows what they're doing. A complete scam to get your money and walk away. Should be shut down. They don't even deserve 1 star. They have terrible reviews for a reason. Our fault for not researching first. Never ever ever would have gone with them if we'd known better.

None of your member points count at any of the hotels you try to stay at if you book through hotels in America. So what's the f****** point? Save $10 but you don't get any of your points. None of your frequent member stuff. Screw this place. You're a rip-off and a scam

I would rate zero if I could. Do not book through these guys! Huge SCAM. They will charge your card without finalizing the booking and ask you to use another card. I have been dealing with my bank now to cancel the charge and it could take up to 90 days to do so. Boooooooooo Hotels in America, boooooooo!

Do not get your reservations from this…

Do not get your reservations from this place, they do not check to see if there’s rooms available and they have been over booking. They don’t give the customer phone numbers to the hotel so they can call them to let them know the rooms been over booked. they give you the runaround when you try to make them refund your money. This place just scam you out of your money. They know you didn't get your room and they make you do all the grunt work to try to get your money back. They even told me they see that I didn't get my room but want me to provide a receipt from another hotel that I had to stay at, I told them that shouldn't matter because they didn't do their job by contacting the hotel prior in making the reservation if they would have then they would know the hotel wouldn't have any rooms available.

This is a scam site

This is a scam site. I just booked a hotel with them and upon checking in to the hotel the frontdesk asked me to call the 3rd party I booked with because their Virtual Credit card that was suppose to pay for my hotel was DECLINED TWICE!

I called customer service and their Respond was they cannot refund me the money and will need few days to investigate it. I am at a hotel without a room that I paid for with my debit card because Hotel in America failed to pay for my stay. I guess I have to wait outside my car until they are able to investigate why it’s DECLINED.

I have a letter from the Hotel Manager as proof that it was declined twice. Their customer service asked me to wait 15 minutes so they can contact the hotel and I was trying to tell her that the manager is infront of me and on speaker and she said she has to follow protocol and call herself and give me an update within 15 minutes.

SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!

52 thumbs down for hotelsinamerica

This company will take your money and do nothing with your reservation. I flew from Fl to Ca. Got to my “reserved” hotel at 10pm for them to tell me they do not have my reservation nor do they have any open rooms. As i begged and begged because I had no where else to go they finally gave me a room at a premium cost for only one night. DO NOT book with this company. You will regret it.

a nightmare with them now

I'm in a nightmare with them now. I booked with them because it was the lowest rate. It was the right Hotel name but unfortunately for me, the wrong location. And the front desk couldn't do anything about the error in booking and I had to contact Hotels in America to correct. The number they provide as a contact is only a number for you to be put on hold. I then resorted to send an email to the address they also provide for support. It takes them about a week to reply an email.. The first response didnt address any of my concerns. The second response said I was getting a full refund in five to seven days. At seven days and no refund, I write them and get a response that's total gibberish from their amendments Team haha... This is evidence enough that there are too many online taking advantage of people at any place and any level because their no policies or regulations in place that will prevent that. The very ones that need to be liable and responsible to implement these policies and regulations are the same ones that allow and bring this to us. (search engines and browsers) Its not justified to say we are dumb and greedy to take the lowest price. Because we all have a little bit of dumb and greedy speaking for myself but the ones that are wrong here are the ones that are allowing this to come to us. to be continued I guess...lol

I used Hotels in America twice. A++

I used Hotels in America twice for my recent trip and both reservations were great. One hotel was a 3star reservation, the second a 4star and both hotels confirmed my stay when I called about 8 hours after I paid. Idk why they have such a bad rep on here but it sounds like a very easy solution to most all of them, pay with a credit card, make sure you dont need to edit your stay, call to confirm you got your reservation, and last but not least enjoy your savings

Same situation as others

Same situation as others. They get legitimacy through being on the Google site with the lowest rate for a hotel room. Within 5 minutes of booking, we got to the hotel and it was dirty and dangerous. The hotel even gave us back the cash deposit we gave them BUT Hotels in America refused to return our money. We ended up sleeping in our car!It was constant fighting with them but they plan to steal your money. I learned an expensive lesson - just book directly with the hotel. Hotels have the desire to make it right with customers. Hotels in America.com is there to rip you off. How can they still be in business?

Our hotel extended a refund for a…

Our hotel extended a refund for a non-refundable trip in writing and Hotels in America would not return the refund. The hotel even said every other company issues a refund. Hotels in America simply kept the money. DO NOT USE this company. It's not worth the very small discount you are expecting.
