As an American, I loved using HousingAnywhere to rent for my upcoming trip! It was secure and efficient! Knowing I have a place is such a relief!

Seamless booking through HousingAnywhere wesbite, communication with Anita was good except that there is no opportunity to see the flat, it was refused, so I booked it by trusting the owner.

I am satisfied with my experience using HousingAnywhere. The platform effectively facilitates finding long-term accommodation remotely, making relocation much easier. However, it's crucial to carefully read the terms and conditions and understand how the platform operates. A few important points to note: HousingAnywhere does not handle or assist with deposit returns from hosts, so it is important signing a separate rental contract directly with your host and maintaining clear communication throughout. Additionally, rental periods are calculated on a calendar month basis regardless of the actual number of days stayed, so be precise when selecting your move-in and move-out dates to avoid paying for unused time. Overall, the platform serves its purpose well if you understand these limitations upfront.

It was really easy to see and understand what/whom I'd be wanting to send my rent to. It was also nice to have replies, even if they were automated.

It has been a pleasure work with Housing Anywhere, in particular my beloved and super professional agent Sole. She made everything clear helping me to reach my first booking in one of the apartments I manage in Rome.

I am a fresh new user of HousingAnywhere but at once very satisfied with the cooperation. Invaluable help with finding tenants for my apartment, smooth and well organised process, I do recomend!

I have no words for the horrible experience I had and still have! Last year, I was going abroad for my university studies, and I needed a place to stay located near Stuttgart (Germany). That is where I found HousingAnywhere and the landlord named PeterCast. The pictures provided on the website looked okay, and the price was within my budget, so I was happy to be moving. However, upon arrival, I already encountered the first of many horrors.
My room smelled like a herbal substance, which I suspected was marijuana. My bed was completely broken and taped together just to look normal from the outside, but it could support no weight. My door could not lock, so I had to push it closed using my backpack. The window could not open or close properly, and there were random paint stripes on the walls. This was only my room.
Moving on to the whole apartment, nothing was properly maintained, and it looked like it was about to fall apart. The shower was leaking, which led to the entire bathroom floor flooding every time you took a shower. The kitchen was dirty and moldy, very unhygienic, and one out of the two toilets was not in use due to the filth and muck that had been building up over time.
Moreover, outside of my apartment I did not feel safe at all. In the second week of my stay, my neighbour told me that there was a stalker looking for her and that I needed to be prepared in case he came back. She also noted that he could be aggressive and that the police had been notified. Outside of my apartment door, there were always drunken people waiting to harass the tenants.
This is just the surface of what I experienced. I tried to communicate many many many times with my landlord PeterCast on his profile his name is Peter who, by the way, I am not even sure really exists. This is because when I contacted his personal number and made arrangements with him, the person I was talking to was not Peter but someone working under him, a handyman as he called himself.
I really wanted PeterCast to fix my door, window, and bed because this was not what I agreed to. On the day of arrival, PeterCast A.K.A this handyman ghosted me on purpose. Later that week he responded in broken English, clearly not fully understanding, and with slow replies. I had to wait several months and eventually take my own actions to fix my door.
To fix my bed, PeterCast sent two married people who seemed like random individuals with some kind of toolbox to try to repair the bed frame. The way they fixed it was by hammering an extra wooden beam onto it and saying to me, Just be careful. Not surprisingly, the bed did not last even a week. PeterCast brilliant solution was then to send me new bed slats, which were completely useless since the bed frame itself was broken. For my entire four month stay I DID NOT HAVE A FUNCTIONAL BED. Ironically, after all my complaining, a completely new bed arrived on the day I was leaving the room.
Around the beginning of December, while I was out in the city of Stuttgart, PeterCast randomly sent me text messages saying that someone would be coming in one hour to review and inspect my room. I immediately asked what this was about and why I was being informed so late. Apparently, it was someone looking for a new room and potentially taking over my room after I left. I had to rush back to the apartment and found her waiting in front of the door. I showed her the apartment in all its ugly glory, and from her expression it was safe to say that it was the last time she would ever set foot in that apartment.
I left feeling angry and deeply unhappy. This period of my life was supposed to be adventurous and full of new experiences. It is safe to say that I experienced something I never want to experience again.
When I returned home, I was at least hoping to receive my downpayment I paid at the beginning of the stay, but PeterCast refused to return it and completely ignored both my family and me. WE HAD TO START A COURT CASE AGAINST PETERCAST, WHICH IS STILL NOT RESOLVED. HousingAnywhere was definitely also not helpful during this period.
So yeah, it is very safe to say that HousingAnywhere deserves this 1-star review, and I DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone to use this service. absolutely horrible in all regards!

Very reliable in term of communication
I have not been at the place I have booked yet through this website but it really helped me with my choice to see all the caracteristic and be so easily in touch with all of the owners I had to contact.

The apartment was great and we received assistance whenever it was needed. No problems whatsoever, I think it is a great choice both of an apartment and of landlords!

Booked this place months in advance. They confirmed everything in writing, including exactly when the deposit was due (their words: “the deposit is due before your move-in”). The second I paid and the booking was locked in the bag, they flipped the script and started demanding money earlier with brand-new “rules” that never existed before. When I pointed out their own messages proving they changed the terms, they canceled my reservation out of nowhere and promised a “full refund.” That was weeks ago. Still waiting for every cent. They’re keeping hundreds of dollars they have zero right to. Shady, dishonest, and straight-up thieves. They bait you with one set of rules, switch them the moment you’re committed, then pocket your money when you call them out. If you enjoy being lied to, extorted, and robbed, book here. Everyone else: run far, far away. I’m reporting them everywhere I can and warning every traveler I know. This “host” doesn’t deserve a single booking ever again.

★☆☆☆☆ EDITED Dec 11, 2025 03:27 PM - They responded with lies and still haven’t refunded the full amount:
Cut the scripted, fake-apology nonsense. Nobody’s buying it.
You say “we are very sorry to hear that”, no you’re not. You don’t give a single sh*t. If you did, you’d fix the problem instead of hiding behind copy-paste lies. You claim I “already got the refund.” That’s another straight-up lie. You kept hundreds of euros for yourself, money you openly admitted was from the first mont, then had the balls to call it a “fee” for a cancellation that YOU initiated, with zero valid reason, after I showed you your own messages proving you changed the terms.
I sent you screenshots of YOUR words: “the deposit is due before your move-in.” Then suddenly it wasn’t, and when I refused to pay your surprise extra demand, you canceled and stole the difference. That’s not a “platform policy.” That’s theft. You had every chance to make this right. Instead you doubled down, kept the money, and now you’re sending me this condescending, robotic garbage like I’m too stupid to see through it. Keep the fake smiles and the “we take feedback seriously” nonsense for someone who hasn’t watched you lie repeatedly in writing. I’m posting every detail of how you scammed me all over the internet. Future guests will know exactly what kind of lying, thieving operation you run.Enjoy the money you stole. Hope it was worth torching whatever’s left of your reputation.
Reply with another lie and I will edit this review again with your own original messages as proof for everyone to see. you either fix it(which you ABSOLUTLELY can) or admin that you scammed me and stole the money, that's the only 2 logical answers exist in this case.

Used the HousingAnywhere platform to book accommodation. The booking process and payment functions operated correctly. The total cost was significantly higher than sourcing similar accommodation through free alternatives because of the platform’s fee. The fee did not provide protections beyond the legal rights already applicable to such transactions. Expectations were not met.

Housing anywhere promotes very attractive appartements for a very low on sites like Immoscout. If you want to book it on the Housing Website, you learn, it's not available. And that's always like that. It's a cheap trick. In fact all appartements they offer, are crazy overpriced. But of course the plus is: if you need something urgent, you'll probably find something fast, even in cities like Berlin. I used it, but I'm not 100% happy with it.

I strongly advise everyone to stay away from HousingAnywhere. They took my money and completely refused to issue a refund, even though they charged me incorrectly. My rental period was 5 months, yet they charged me commission for 6 months because of an error in their system.
Despite multiple attempts to get a clear explanation, they provided none. They simply refused to acknowledge the mistake or return the extra money. It feels like they are more interested in keeping customers’ money than providing fair service.
Their fees are extremely high, especially considering how poor and inaccurate their calculations are. This has been one of the worst rental platform experiences I’ve ever had.
Do not trust them. Do not use them.

Horrible experience. Horrible business values. Would not recommend. There is no checking by the company of the house/room, and you get stuck on a place or a year with no support of them. No one offer alternatives/support, the landlords don't fix the issues. They don't take any responsibility after the exaggerated fees they impose.

I have rented out three times on this platform and it is legit and payments have arrived as described. There are a few things though in the system that I would like to see improved. Mainly syncing with other calendars, I would like to see more options there and better control over it.
