Staff really helpful at Burnley store & Ian & Paul delivered the chair with care

What a lovely buying experience we had yesterday. There was no pushing or hard selling. Everything was relaxed and each element of what we were buying was carefully explained. Thank you to Tracy in the store at Burnley. Once again, thanks, Tracy.

On looking to replace our tied HSL chair. We returned only to find our local store had closed down. Looking for our nearest HSL store we came across the Burnley branch, we are pleased we did. The staff asked if we had and idea of need, after listening patiently and without a push they advised what chairs in the showroom would be accommodating, then they left us to walk around sit and operate the chairs we fancied. Once we had made our mind up a purchase was made . All we have to do now is await our new comfort.

Very friendly atmosphere, extremely attentive staff, answered all our questions, Val made it a pleasure to visit, stress free.

I bought an ex demonstrator chair from HSL in my local town last December. All was fine until the summer and the warmer temperatures set off something called off gassing causing a garlic/chemical smell in my living room which was very over powering especially first thing. It took me a while to figure out where the smell was coming from but the response I got from HSL was very poor.
I rang customer services and they admitted they had a few calls about smells and the advice to be given was open a window! Not good enough, I have asthma/COPD overlap syndrome and could not stay in that room until well into the afternoon.
I then sent an email stating all the above and that I did not want the chair in my home. First response was I don't have any rights because I bought an ex display and was told about any faults and agreed to buy the chair. This incorrect as there is a potential Health and safety issue. Any way they wanted me to pay for a technician to do a report on the chair, who I refused to do. They said they would ring back on a Monday never did so I rang them and they totally back tracked, (must have asked their legal team) said they would send a technician out at their cost and that they don't discriminate against customers who pay good money for one of their chairs. Wow. Anyway the engineer came today wouldn't listen to me just kept saying he could really smell it, which was true but that is because the temperatures have dropped etc. I refused to sign and said I will wait for HSL to get back in touch with me while I seek legal advice.
Some advice for anyone who has the same problem look up VOC's Volatile Organic Compounds. They are used in manufacturing processes such as material, adhesive, chipboard and foam production and also sprays which are used on furniture pre sale. When it hits warm in summer they off gas and I have been told it could take years to stop doing it. I am so disappointed in how they have dealt with this sending an engineer probably knowing the smell isn't as bad but the fact remains it is a known issue and a replacement wouldn't solve the problem. Just waiting for citizens advice to get back to me.

Chair was chosen (fantastic price btw) paid for, collected by delivery chap (lovely Duncan) & delivered to my mums house all within 90 minutes.

Having had a great experience buying our new furniture we faced getting it home to Hesketh Bank, over an hour away. Once again Paula was very helpful and put us in touch with Duncan.
Duncan is great. We arranged a date and time and Dunan delivered, installed and was away. No fuss, just a professional, cheerful gentleman.

I dealt with both the Norwich and Burnley HSL stores. Both were outstanding in their customer service, both Michelle at Norwich and Jill in Burnley were very efficient, knowledgeable and very caring in dealing with our order.

The chair was delivered on time by the 2 Danny’s.Very polite and friendly.Very happy with my purchase so far.

Jill was great, showing my mother around the showroom and letting her try lots of different chairs. She explained everything very well, gave my mother all of the relevant options, and even managed to arrange delivery within about an hour of purchase (as bought chair from showroom floor). Delivery was quick, smooth and straightforward. Could not complain at all about the purchase and delivery process at all.

We purchased a chair from HSL Burnley branch about 6 months ago excellent service throughout. Today we found our new kitten had gone under the said chair and both being elderly did not know what to do, so I rang our local showroom at Burnley and explained our dilemma and that we were panicking on how we could get her out with all the mechanisms . Within 20 mins 2 lady staff arrived at our doorstep, Paula and Val , All I can say is that they went above and beyond to get our kitten out from under the chair safely, they understood all the mechanisms and knew just how to move the chair without hurting the kitten, we are deeply grateful and can guarantee to any future customers to go straight to HSL for furniture. They are all extremely knowledgable on their products and nothing is to much trouble, HSL furniture is second to none.

The choice was good and the service with Tracy was excellent, thanks for a no pressure choice.

From getting in my car,i told my wife i dont want a NEW RECLINING CHAIR,what i have is OK.2 hours later,£1280 lighter in my bank balance,delivery Monday,a New Chair will arrive.Val and Jill were very helpful,NO hard sell from either of them,just let me look at what would be OK for my Posture etc.A very nice,well set out store,Quality products throughout,a nice Brew,and a good laugh,no complaints,Val and Jill,THANKYOU.

From walking through the door you're made very welcome. Relaxed atmosphere no pressure no hassle. Jill was really helpful and friendly (she makes a lovely cup of tea 😀) everything was explained fully. I will certainly be visiting the store in Burnley again. Thank you HSL

The whole experience we had at the Burnley HSL store was second to none. The staff were on hand all the time, particularly Jill our Comfort Specialist was very knowledgeable, professional on hand all the time while we were there. It was a very relaxing rewarding experience, thank you. My husband is getting used to the chair we purchased using it a little more each day, he really looks comfortable sitting in it either just as a chair or with the footrest. Thank you.
