HSL Chairs - Burnley Reviews 

Visited the Burnley store recently and Val & Jill were brilliant. My husband has had a stroke and is using a 4 wheeled walker they were so considerate of his needs this trip out was his first for 10 months and their helpfulness and thoughtfulness made it a great time. They went above and beyond what we expected and it was really appreciated.

Val and Jill were very welcoming on my arrival at the showroom. They listened to my requirements and were able to show me a range of examples and give me detailed explanations about the pros and cons of each design. Friendly, knowledgeable staff made for a pleasant visit and a great purchase.

Jill and colleague were very helpful. Good deal on seconds Glenmore. Delivered same day.

From my initial telephone conversation with Val, she was so informative and helpful. I wanted to take mother in to look at purchasing a remote controlled reclining chair.
She gave us great directions to the store and an even better postcode to use on the Satnav - even so I still got lost !
But that wasn't a problem. Val then met me where I'd parked up, showed me her ID and then directed us safely to the store. It's tucked away a little and I wasn't the first person from out of the area to get lost.
We then were offered tea/coffee and biscuits, very nice touch.
Val then went on to describe the 7 points of measurements required to get the best bespoke chair for my mother's needs.
The service was excellent.
My mother can't wait to take delivery of her new chair in the new year.

The two ladies who took care of me couldn't have been more helpful and informative, it was a very enjoyable experience, thank you Val and Jill at the Burnley store I will surely recommend HSL to friends.

The girls at the Burnley shop are wonderful, so very welcoming and make great brews and biccies. Sorted us a great deal, and HSL held on for the delivery of our sofa while we decorated the living room.
The delivery was painless and very professionally done by two guys, Craig and Mark, who were very courteous, pleasant and well-mannered.
We love the sofa, very sturdy and comfy. 10/10 xx

As I wasn't able to make a store visit HSL's Adam (Stockport) made a home visit and the demonstration convinced me that I really needed a riser recliner chair! Val, Jill, Paula and Tracy - at the Burnley store, were instrumental in finding me the right chair at short notice and Duncan - the delivery guy, was great also! ALL of the HSL staff have been caring and understanding and incredibly helpful in making suitable and informed choices! I felt comfortable and at ease speaking with each person - as if I were speaking with my own family; whenever I needed to speak with them and never felt under any duress or pressure to make an uninformed purchase! Thank you HSL - you are blessed to have such caring staff/family!

On looking to replace our tied HSL chair. We returned only to find our local store had closed down. Looking for our nearest HSL store we came across the Burnley branch, we are pleased we did. The staff asked if we had and idea of need, after listening patiently and without a push they advised what chairs in the showroom would be accommodating, then they left us to walk around sit and operate the chairs we fancied. Once we had made our mind up a purchase was made . All we have to do now is await our new comfort.

Very friendly atmosphere, extremely attentive staff, answered all our questions, Val made it a pleasure to visit, stress free.

I bought an ex demonstrator chair from HSL in my local town last December. All was fine until the summer and the warmer temperatures set off something called off gassing causing a garlic/chemical smell in my living room which was very over powering especially first thing. It took me a while to figure out where the smell was coming from but the response I got from HSL was very poor.
I rang customer services and they admitted they had a few calls about smells and the advice to be given was open a window! Not good enough, I have asthma/COPD overlap syndrome and could not stay in that room until well into the afternoon.
I then sent an email stating all the above and that I did not want the chair in my home. First response was I don't have any rights because I bought an ex display and was told about any faults and agreed to buy the chair. This incorrect as there is a potential Health and safety issue. Any way they wanted me to pay for a technician to do a report on the chair, who I refused to do. They said they would ring back on a Monday never did so I rang them and they totally back tracked, (must have asked their legal team) said they would send a technician out at their cost and that they don't discriminate against customers who pay good money for one of their chairs. Wow. Anyway the engineer came today wouldn't listen to me just kept saying he could really smell it, which was true but that is because the temperatures have dropped etc. I refused to sign and said I will wait for HSL to get back in touch with me while I seek legal advice.
Some advice for anyone who has the same problem look up VOC's Volatile Organic Compounds. They are used in manufacturing processes such as material, adhesive, chipboard and foam production and also sprays which are used on furniture pre sale. When it hits warm in summer they off gas and I have been told it could take years to stop doing it. I am so disappointed in how they have dealt with this sending an engineer probably knowing the smell isn't as bad but the fact remains it is a known issue and a replacement wouldn't solve the problem. Just waiting for citizens advice to get back to me.

We told the ladies what we needed & their knowledge & customer service was amazing.

Chair was chosen (fantastic price btw) paid for, collected by delivery chap (lovely Duncan) & delivered to my mums house all within 90 minutes.
