HSL Chairs - Orpington Reviews 

Service on a level that we came to expect in the 1960’s but alas now sadly lacking. Absolutely first class.

31st Jan 2026 my wife and I spent the most enjoyable time choosing and ordering some sofas, thanks to the help and advice given by Ros assisted by Christine at the Orpington branch. They allowed us all the time we needed, including tea and biscuits. Selecting the right design for support, comfort and size along with the fabric and accessories can be daunting but the guidance given was very knowledgeable and we made the perfect choice. Ros and Christine are also very pleasant ladies.

I visited today with my brother to purchase an armchair. Christine was very helpful and kind. She took time to fit a chair to my brother and help us find the colour that we wanted. She also explained the warranty and the delivery process in detail.
The other lady member of staff was also very welcoming and chatted with us. Would recommend the Orpington branch as we had a very friendly welcome.

Store was easy to find. Parking available in the back. Jon met us at the door. Immediately he was engaged with our Aunt and spent all the time needed to ensure she had the best experience. No pressure sales, but refreshingly a dedicated set of observations and feedback the result of which was Aunty and chair being a perfect match.

HSL (especially Jon - Orpington) were terrific. No pressure selling just helpful advice, guidance in acquiring the right furniture for you. Delivery was advised 6-8 weeks. Received furniture within 4 weeks. Everyone we dealt with were polite and very professional. Very impressed. Wouldn't hesitate to buy from HSL again.

What a wonderful experience shopping at HSL. We were met at the entrance by Christine and there followed a delightful experience from being offered tea or coffee to a very pleasant journey finding the chairs that we wanted. Christine was exceptionally nice and the service from a very careful fitting (as we need two different size chairs) to the preparation of a quotation was completely without pressure or obligation. On Our second visit a few days later we met Ros (and later Christine again) who was equally attentive and just really nice. We discussed some options and had some questions answered before signing off on the two chairs we absolutely loved.

What a difference true, personalised and friendly service makes! From start to finish this morning, Jonathan at the Orpington branch made an urgent need to replace the old trusted HSL chair that my 92 year old mother has been using for the last 30 years, an easy and efficient process.
He was kind and courteous and it felt as though he was helping his own mum pick the right one for her needs.

Parking at the rear of the shop is excellent, rear access for a wheelchair was excellent, Jon the sales man bent over backwards offering refreshments and help with selecting a chair that was right for me as I’m in a wheelchair.

We visited HSL Orpington today and were thoroughly impressed with the reception and introduction from Christine in the store. She was absolutely amazing, so helpful, informative. She put us at ease whilst looking to purchase a new riser recliner chair. There was absolutely no pressure and the amount of time we had to browse the store, try out the various varieties available which was reinforced by Christine’s knowledge and advice. We really felt as though we weren’t just customers, but were considered as valued individuals whose tailored needs and comfort were completely considered . A great experience from when we entered the shop and offered coffee and biscuits to being shown the different riser chairs by Ros who expertly explained the different type of motors and showed us the material swatches. This enabled us to make up our minds and order the chairs with confidence

I would like to express my sincerely thanks to Jonathan for his professional advice and patience in recommending the perfect HELMSLEY chair to me which I have ordered
on 31/12/2025.

On 30/12/2025 (my first visit) he suggested that I bring my slippers along another day and sit on the chair for 15 minutes or so to make sure that the chair was the right height for me.
On 31/12/2025 (my second visit) I sat on the HELMSLEY chair with my slippers on and my feet was touching the floor, and the suggested Petite size was ordered.

I can’t thank Ros enough for her professionalism and attentiveness. Ros really knows her products and couldn’t have been more helpful. She really went above and beyond with my order. Christine, the member of staff who served us at the Orpington branch, was both patient and knowledgable as she steered us through the various options available for our chosen design of sofa and chairs. If the delivery experience is as painless as the sales process it will be ten out of ten for HSL.

The attention that Jon payed to my size in selecting the right size armchair and his attention to detail regarding the armchair's options was very good and the staff were very good.

We went to HSL chairs to get a recliner chair. Ros was super helpful and was very informative. Great selection to try from and customer parking with easy acess to the store. Thank you for all your help!

Jon was excellent, listening to what my father wanted, showing us the various recliner chairs that were suitable for him. He was patient, explaining the best options and all the various extras available, which might be beneficial for his health issues. He's now looking forward to receiving his Ripley Grande!

Ros at HSL Orpington was very helpful in guiding us through the options available for the chair we ordered. It was a real pleasure dealing with her and she ensured we left happy, even taking the trouble to make sure our exit from the car park was clear.

The Furniture arrived today at the promised time. The delivery men were quick and very professional with the setting up of the chairs and settee. The furniture is beautiful, just as I was expecting. All round good service from the shop to the delivery.. Well done.
