Don't risk with this company

If you're reading this, just so you know, if things go wrong you're gonna have the worst time trying to fix it. They didn't carry out one of the services we purchased on the day, we called in multiple times and they just say the classic "call us back tomorrow" each time until a week has gone by. Finally end of the week they just had a woman telling us the service will not be carried out and there's nothing we can do, at one point started twisting my words but I won't go into details here, and just plainly refusing to help us in any other way what so ever. Eventually, she added we can only contact their complaints team, which doesn't take calls, only emails, and "might reply". I didn't send an email and just accepted this is lost. Just disgusting treatment of customers.

Brilliant Service
I ordered a refrigerator from Hughes Colchester but when it was delivered on the date and time promised, I realised it should have ordered a freezer ! Don't ask, it was entirely my fault. I went straight round to Hughes in Colchester and told my tale of woe to Sales Lady Wendy. She waved aside my embarrassment and could not have been more helpful in finding the freezer I should have ordered in their warehouse. After setting a prompt delivery and exchange date , it was all over, done and dusted. I cannot praise Wendy enough for sparing my blushes and saving a lot of food from going off. I will definitely shop at Hughes again and let my friends and family know how helpful she was.

Absolutely disgusting service , pick items up and keep charging you for them. Saying they never got it

Absolutely disgusting, was renting off them for years. arranged collection of a TV i no longer needed, they collected it from me and then over a year later i discover they have been charging me every month for it still . Got hold of them and they are saying they never collected it and that i have to keep paying for it or pay a replacement fee.
What a load of rubbish!!! One of their team has picked it up and robbed it and i’m fitting the bill still !

Faulty fridge freezer .they couldn't check on the Friday. And told me to wait for Monday. So I told them to pick up the cooker tv and the fridge freezer. They charged me a termination fee of over 300 pounds .I'm taking this to trading standards. They took the fee off my friends card .there not getting away with this .there ripping people off .especially the vulnerable. Please don't use Hughes. Be warned ⚠️

Do not rent from them

Rented a television through them for over 5 years. When I called them to cancel the staff member on the phone said I could have paid £20 less a month a few years back. No contact from them to advise and afterwards he carried on with the hard sell to keep it at the reduced price or order another television. Con artists

Notified them of my mums death and advised they would come and collect the tv. This is not what I wanted and advised I would be keeping the tv, then advised need a credit check and death certificate. No empathy or condolences, just a young girl on the other end that wasn’t particularly pleasant. ALL companies should have a bereavement team.

Went into store at Great Yarmouth

Went into store at Great Yarmouth, found the American fridge freezer that we wanted.Eplained to salesman that we were not going to be a run of the mill delivery destination. We have a Broads riverside bungalow, that is serviced by a concrete pathway, from unloading area.We are 4 properties from this area, approx 130 yards. We informed salesman of that before we purchased goods, he needed to check that delivery was possible. After a call to delivery depot , they confirmed it was not a problem. We duly awaited delivery on designated day, we were visited by delivery en and told that "health and safety rules meant they could not deliver" they also said they had refused to deliver a washing machine to a neighbour, same reason. So, why did store take my order for fridge freezer when they wouldn't deliver a washing machine.I received refund, and placed order with AO, they delivered order within two days no problem. Will never shop with Hughes again

Confused communication with delivery, no after service?

To start with they were quite helpful, but why wouldn't they be I was about to purchase 3 LG TV's at a cost of £1500. I was not offered any deals and was quickly dismissed when I broached the subject, anyway I continued with the purchase and said I would collect from store two days later.I received an email saying my order should be ready for collection between 8am and 10am from store on the day I received a call from the delivery driver at 7am, sadly his English was not that great so communication between us both was a nightmare. After about 30 minutes of conversing I eventually got my home post code across to them and 15 minutes later they turned up at my home not the shop as requested. Since this all happened I have not had so much as a phone call text nothing from Hughes Clacton on sea in over a week very poor poor after service got my money then no follow up. Mr Bell
PS. funny just got a call from Hughes whilst i'm writing this they had just seen the feed back I left on their site.

Crooks

Crooks. No goods in stock despite the false figures shown on website. Fake tracking and hold onto your money for ages like any good crook does. Shocking they are even still allowed to trade.

Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!

I purchased an LG TV for our client from their website. Unfortunately, I did not receive it on the expected delivery day. In the morning, I received an email from the courier with the delivery time slot; however, I received no other emails or text messages. I had to schedule my day to ensure I would be at home to receive the delivery. However, neither Hughes nor their courier contacted me to notify me that the delivery had been cancelled. When I contacted Hughes the next day, they told me that their courier couldn't deliver the TV due to weather conditions. However, according to the tracking information, the driver delivered another 24 packages without issues. They also told me that the courier tried to deliver the TV in the morning the next day; however, when I offered to send them the CCTV footage from my front door to prove that no one had come, they refused.
The customer service of this company is awful. I regret dealing with them and warn everyone to stay away. They offered a £50 cheaper deal on their website, but the stress you will receive is not worth it.

I purchased a TV online on the 29th of December for delivery on the 3rd of January.
No contact from Hughes on or before delivery date so I give them a call.

Apparently they need to speak to you on the phone if you buy a TV now but decided to not call or email me about this until I contacted them.

So now I've burned my first day off of the year from work so I can not get a delivery and instead I have to chase them to find out why.

Very poor indeed. No recompense. No interest.

Very poor indeed and its not the young lady on the end of the phone at Hughes who is at fault - its very much higher up the chain.

I made the mistake of ordering a washing machine through EBAY. Hughes EBay use a terrible courier called Arrow XL. (see my review on them for more and avoid them like the plague no matter what) and when it goes wrong as it did last Friday, neither Arrow or Hughes are interested in putting it right. I've been without a washing machine for a month now. How difficult is it to bring a piece of white goods into a kitchen or utility and put it where requested? Well with both of these companies it seems that it is impossible and a totally unreasonable thing to expect of them.

Arrow's drivers were rude and they dropped my washing machine and also stole my washing machine because I asked them v nicely to put the old one out in the yard (all of 10 feet and fully unplumbed already) so that there was room for the new one to be indoors in the utility. I didn't expect them to do anymore than that. They totally refused, they intended to just leave it in the yard - and there were 2 of them and one of little 60 year old female me. They then took the new one back!. When I then called the company, Arrow's phone lady Jenny put the phone down on me!.

Arrow are a tick box company who after a negative review will ask for information but nothing comes of it. I've heard nothing from them at all since providing. They have not apologised and not even offered redress and clearly have no intention of doing so - neither have Hughes incidentally and ditto.

I am in 100% agreement with everyone else on here saying 1 star and give them a wide berth. I'd go one further. Lets put Arrow's rude staff out of a job and them out of business by leaving reviews everywhere and warning people to stay away. Hughes would then have to use a decent company or employ their own drivers and then maybe CUSTOMER would actually mean something and be valued rather than CASH COW.

Trurst in the reviews, they are correct

So I find this a bit strange, we had an issue with our LG TV turning itself off every couple of hours. Called Hughes and they sent some guys out with a van to collect very quickly taking an £85 fee. They were polite pleasant and can't be faulted. However received a call from them a few days later to say our TV wasn't a UK model and they could not possibly get parts. This is a Korean TV sold globally with an apparent software issue, it has lived in the UK since it was brand new when we bought it, in the UK. I don't think they have any idea what they are doing. I should have paid more attention to their reviews, they are not great but probably for a reason. Would be less than 1 star from me but their collection staff were great in fairness

Ordered a £600+ LG washer dryer through their eBay store in July. I've recently been finding screws inside the drum - the machine is falling apart.

Reported the issue to them and have basically been told it's not their problem - speak to the manufacturer.

Currently going around in circles with LG with either company willing to help.

Avoid Hughes and LG!

DO NOT ORDER FROM HUGHES

This is a terrible company, do not order from Hughes!!
Ordered an oven on 17th November, to date I still haven't received it. The earliest date I was able to book delivery was 5th December (!!). Delivery was half an hour later than the booking window, builders had left for the day so we missed it. Called Hughes who were completely disinterested. Next available delivery date isn't until 6 days time, Hughes customer services simply offered me an email address to send in my complaint and said "well there's nothing we can do". I asked why it's taking nearly a month to receive my order, the advisor spoke over me, would not listen and just did not care at all. My renovation job is now delayed, absolutely furious and will never order from Hughes again.
