Poor Service at John Roe Toyota. Hull
I travelled 22 miles to John Roe Toyota, Hull to sort out annual service.
I was given a price for 50000 service. excluding some parts that were not needed. I was happy with price for booked car in for 06/03/26. I received a E-mail saying Health check free & Oil & filter change. I send message back to see what was going on, no respond.
Then I got another E-mail to sign booking, asked about why it saying only oil & filter. no respond. Turned up for service 06/03/26, At reception desk I said it a 50000 service, no problem, gave them my key. on leaving John roe got a call can you come back. Returned to garage for them to say will not do the service for agreed price. wanted another £70. I refused as I got a agreed price.
Talking to General Manager who was arrogant & did not listen to me.
Last year I had a Service, 1.5 litres of oil above engine oil max. when i asked about this no respond.
Also last year I had a problem with Car play, been in 6 times for this problem. manager said don't think we can fix it. Got on with Toyota, send then video of problem & it got sorted.
Worse Than A Back Street Garage – Unprofessional & Hos
I purchased this vehicle solely because it was sold and advertised as a Toyota Approved Used car. This designation explicitly implies that a full 145-point inspection, including a meaningful road test and verification of mechanical integrity, had been properly completed prior to sale.
Almost immediately upon collection, multiple serious issues became apparent. These included the vehicle pulling to one side, drivetrain vibration under load, abnormal gearbox noise, hesitation when power was demanded (particularly on inclines), excessive vibration and abnormal noise on cold start, and an intermittently faulty driver’s door lock that at times prevented the door from closing properly. These are fundamental drivability and safety-related defects that could not reasonably have been missed during a competent inspection and road test.
These defects raised immediate concerns that the Toyota Approved Used inspection was either not carried out at all, or was conducted to a purely superficial standard. On that basis, I exercised my right to reject the vehicle.
When I returned the car, there was no joint inspection or agreed handover process. A manager took one key and walked away without acknowledgment, then took the vehicle away alone. After some time, he returned alleging scratches and a minor dent on the roof. I had the vehicle for only one day, and the dent was very small — there is no plausible way such minor damage could have occurred in that time. The dealer suggested I should have noticed it at collection, but it is entirely unreasonable to expect a customer to spot such a minor mark, particularly when a pre-delivery condition report should have documented any pre-existing imperfections.
No figures were provided, and despite my requests, no photographs, inspection records, or contemporaneous evidence were produced to demonstrate that any alleged marks were caused by me. I was then escorted to the paint department in an accusatory manner to consult a specialist about how much I should pay for repairs, despite no joint inspection taking place and no evidence that I caused any damage. This conduct made me feel as though I was being treated as if I had done something wrong.
At no point was I shown a 145-point inspection report, any pre-delivery condition report, any handover photographs, or any advertising photographs, despite explicitly requesting them. Without such documentation, it is impossible to verify whether the inspection was properly conducted or whether the alleged marks pre-existed my ownership.
The overall handling of this matter was hostile, confrontational, and unprofessional. While a refund was eventually indicated, it was offered reluctantly and only after it became clear that deductions could not be justified.
Overall, this experience demonstrates a serious lack of transparency, accountability, and professionalism. In the end, the experience was worse than dealing with a typical back street garage, which is saying a lot given the supposed “Toyota Approved Used” standard.
Very pleased with the service i got
Very pleased with the service i got. I had a slight problem with low tyre pressure warning lights but got it fixed after a couple of weeks. The car is very nice and it is my first automatic that I have owned. SARAH was really helpful. Great garage had Toyotas since 1991. John Roe has great service
A very positive buying experience
From start to finish, our experience of buying our year-old Corolla Touring hybrid was excellent. The team members we dealt with were polite and helpful. Sarah in particular couldn't have been more helpful in guiding us through the new (to us) technology.
First time buying a new car
First time buying a new car! Was guided and supported throughout the process by the lovely Sarah! Excellent service for a nervous buyer with nothing being too much trouble.
Five stars well earned
Without a doubt the experience of buying a new car at John Roe earned five stars thanks to the professionalism and interpersonal skills of Sarah Holden. In my view she is a credit to the organisation and made us very confident that we had made the right choice. She worked so hard to explain everything and was at pains to ensure we made informed choices.
The car, a Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid, is even better than we thought now we have got to know it a little better.
Great service
Have two Toyota’s, both recently serviced. Very efficient and friendly, great customer service overall and excellent value.
Key problems
Popped in today, trouble with my keys. Essie sorted out the problem in no time at all. Nothing seemed to be any trouble. Smiling, cheerful and above all very knowledgeable.
Thanks also to Cheryl who sorted out another problem for me earlier.
Both a credit to John Roe. A smile makes all the difference.
Kindest Regards
Mike Cooper.

New Toyota Yaris
Great service at John Roe Hull Toyota. Jay was very efficient as usual as this is the second car I have bought from him this year. Jay answered all my questions and I really appreciated the overall experience. I am very pleased with my new Toyota Yaris
Poor customer service and pricing
own a RAV4 which has poor security (see CAN bus). I asked John Roe for an offer to sell the car to them, due to the poor manufacturing. I was given a price lower than WeBuyAnyCar, so obviously, John Roe is not interested in customer satisfaction....

I recently purchased a new Bz4x from John Roe garage of Hull. I was greated by Ryan Clarke. I had a budget and I made various changes until he came with it. I agreed to purchase the vehicle and the service I received was excellent. I was kept up to date throughout the process. Thank you Ryan and thank you Toyota.
Great service and a pleasure to deal with.
Bought a used vehicle recently from John Roe in Hull. Refreshingly easy to deal with them. No hassle, no backwards and forwards to the boss. Straightforward dealings and all questions answered. Issues we had with the vehicle before agreeing to purchase were agreed to be addressed and the vehicle was brilliant when we collected it. Thank you to Howard Roberts and the team for such good service.

Toyota Hilux Invincible X
I placed an order for a Toyota Hilux on 02/06/2021 with extras at a cost of £49706.74 I was told that it would be in the country 31/01/2022 when it came and i went to look it was a basic Hilux i ordered automatic, tow bar, canopy, sliding deck and spray lining, the manager said he could sort it all but the automatic, they then drove it to Durham and back to get the work done but had over 200 miles on clock, to me that is second hand the sales team were appalling
1) I did take the vehicle but when I got home there were problems with the paint work, hubs, leaking canopy, roof bars
2) I tried to contact principal dealer and Tom Roe but no rang back, rang Toyota a lady manager rang back to arrange for the vehicle to go back it spent more time in the garage than on my drive BUT they did loan me a vehicle
3) 2-3 months later wasn't happy with the vehicle so made arrangement with manager to order the correct vehicle we agreed a date paid for it in full once again no communication for 6 months, my vehicle was taken back in July so i have had no vehicle for 6 months
4) My partner rang manager to see when new vehicle would be in only to be told the factory had been flooded and we may get one by September, we looked online and yes the factory had been flooded but in April, that was before we took out vehicle back so they knew we would not be one in March this year, but I was just finding this out now, I trusted John Roe and the sales team but it's been lies and betrayal
5) John Roe did pay my money back but i have still lost £3762.80 over this and i feel that i have been ripped off
6) I would never deal with John Roe again the customer service is terrible and no communication skills whatsoever would have given NO STARS AT ALL
I'm very disappointed after taking my…
I'm very disappointed after taking my car to John Roe Toyota Hull four times. The last time they had it was four days on condition that they fixed my car for £504 and I paid that much but today I got it back with same issue. While they said they would fix it for you with a guarantee. I'm really not happy with them. zero star for they work.
