Great products let down by deceptive business practices and terrible customer service

If there is any company in the world that has made an attempt to actively convince me to never do business with them again, it would have to be Hyperfly. It seems like they hire people to work for them as "customer service" whose job it is to argue and debate with the customer in an attempt to convince them that they were wrong to ask for support, and that it is the customers fault for having a bad experience. My issues with Hyperfly can be broken down into 2 parts.

1: Deceptive Business Practices.
I am new to BJJ and was looking to buy my first gi. I read some reviews online and heard that Hyperfly produced some of the best products so I decided to order from them despite living outside of the US. Due unfavourable rates of currency conversion and the fact that I had to pay approx. $100 to ship the gi internationally, I decided to buy one of their products that was on sale. It was not my favourite gi but I thought it would be worth saving 30% and settling for one of their less popular products. About 2 hours after making the purchase I received an email for Hyperfly informing me that there was currently a sale on ALL of their products, yet this information was nowhere to be found on their website. It seems that they intentionally mark down undesirable products or surplus stock on their website while intentionally hiding the fact that there is a sale from new customers, pushing new customers to buy particular products while returning customers get to take advantage of the sale. I personally find this to be pretty heinous and seems like the perfect way to leave new customers with a sour taste in their mouths. Imagine spending hundreds of dollars on a product only to find out that you had just been tricked out of participating in a sale.. This leads me to my second point of criticism.

2: Terrible Customer Service.
Naturally, upon finding out about their scammy secret sale, I immediately emailed support to switch my gi for the one I would have preferred. This was 2 hours after making my purchase, before the shipping process started, and it would have been the middle of the night in America. Meaning that if the customer service team was actually working, they would have been able to easily rectify my issue in minutes. Unfortunately, I received no reply. I waited a couple of days and emailed again, still no reply. They packed and shipped the gi that I didn't want anymore, still no reply. Three weeks later after the gi had arrived I got an email from them asking me to review the product. I left a 2 star review on the website, stating that I appreciated the quality of the product but was deeply unsatisfied with the lack of support I received and the fact that my tickets were ignored. I got a reply back from Hyperfly support informing me that I had never emailed them and asked me if there was anything they could do to rectify the issue LOL so I then took the time to explain my concerns to the customer service person clearly and respectfully, outlining the fact that I had emailed multiple times for assistance and conceding that I didn't expect them to pay to ship back the gi and send me the one that I wanted, as this would have cost the company hundreds of dollars. I also included a screenshot proving that I sent multiple request for support. I got another reply insisting that they never received the emails, and that they had "looked into it" and found out that there was no mistake on their end and there was no error with their email system ??? um okay bro but you already have proof that I sent the emails so I am not sure why you are trying to debate that point. They also tried to explain to me that I actually had benefitted from the sale because I bought a gi that was 30% off, completely ignoring my feedback and the reason for my complaint. They also told me that even if they had responded to my ticket, they wouldn't have done anything to rectify the situation because I am an international customer. Correction, I was an international customer, past tense lol I will never be shopping with this business again.

It seems clear that the intent of this business is to milk you for a quick buck and then gaslight you into enjoying the terrible purchasing experience that they intentionally created to scam customers. You might make a purchase from them and it will work out just fine, because their products seem to be well made and high quality.. But, god forbid you actually need some kind of assistance beyond handing them your money and receiving a product in return. Be careful if you choose to make a purchase from Hyperfly, personally I'm going to spend my money with a company that is willing to do the bare minimum to ensure their customers have a positive experience.

Refused to accept my exchange (not refund, an exchange for a larger size), after spending $80 for a rashguard. Wanted to charge an additional $25 for a cleaning fee, citing deodorant stains, that were not present when I mailed it back. SAVE YOUR MONEY, buy your jiu jitsu/MMA from a company that values its customers. Not this one.

Awful customer service who body shame for ill fitting gi

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Hyperfly.

I originally purchased a gi that didn’t fit and, after consulting with their customer service team and following their advice, I paid out of pocket to return it and ordered another one they recommended. Unfortunately, the second gi also fit very poorly — even after shrinking it — making it unusable for both training and competition.

When I raised these concerns, instead of taking responsibility for their poor sizing guidance, Hyperfly told me the issue was due to my “body type” and that “any gi will most likely always fit on the baggy side.” Not only is this dismissive, but it also came across as body shaming. For a company that sponsors athletes with similar builds to mine, this explanation felt unacceptable.

On top of that, I have reached out to customer service multiple times and have either been ignored or brushed off with a generic 15% discount code — essentially no resolution at all. I’m now stuck with an expensive, unwearable gi and no accountability from Hyperfly.

This is not the level of service or professionalism I expected from a brand with their reputation. Once they have your money, don’t expect them to stand behind their products or provide meaningful support if things go wrong.

Best customer service experience EVER (thank you Kalyn)!

Kalyn was absolutely outstanding. We ran into a few problems, and she helped us from start to finish with the entire process. I have never worked with such exceptional customer service. My husband and I will continue to purchase from Hyperfly (and recommend them) not just for their quality, but due to their stellar customer service. Truly I cannot thank Kalyn enough for all the hard work she put into making sure we were/are satisfied!!

Side note, if you are not happy with your Gi or the sizing is off email/call hyperfly... they really do go above and beyond to make the customer happy!

Hyperfly EU

Firstly the Gi - Hyperfly BJJ Gi ProComp 3.0 black. RUBBISH! For the price I expected more. I can get a Gi like this off ebay for £50. Secondly shipping. When i order a product from Ireland (I live in England), I do not expect to pay £60 customs charge. This product was either shipped with the incorrect customs code or the staff at Hyperfly know and just conveniently don't tell you. I also tried to leave a review on the website, but what a surprise, that functionality is disabled. I will not order another Hyperfly Gi again and I will not recommend. I guarantee you Hyperfly will say "customs charges are out of our control".... YAwn.
