I recently had a truly horrendous experience with ikman.lk, the so-called largest online marketplace in Sri Lanka.

I posted an ad to sell my laptop along with a few accessories. Shortly after posting, I received a notification to boost my ad, and I paid Rs. 5,500 for two ad types: "Spotlight" and a bundle ad with additional boost features that promised better conversions and leads because I wanted to sell my items fast.

However, within minutes, I got a notification that my ad was disapproved and needed editing to be published. They had edited my ad, removed all the photos except for one of the laptop, and changed the ad description to what they deemed appropriate. This is not how I wanted my ad to appear.

I contacted customer service and was informed that I could only sell the laptop and that other items must be listed separately. There was no mention of this restriction on their website. It would have been helpful to have clear guidelines on what can be posted when selling a computer item.

My listing included the laptop and a few accessories I no longer needed, which I was giving away with the laptop. Frustrated, I requested an immediate refund, as I wanted to sell the accessories along with the laptop.

Customer service directed me to email their support team, which I did right away. They responded by asking for a bunch of information to verify the transaction, including my debit card number and the amount paid. I complied and sent them the necessary details, understanding that these steps are standard for processing a refund.

In their email, they assured me the refund would be processed within seven days. After 7 days, I contacted them to follow up as I had not received my refund. I was told they had sent the emails to the right department and that the refund was being processed. This runaround continued for over 20 days with over 15 phone calls to their customer service agents.

Every time I called, the support agents assured me the refund was forthcoming. However, some agents didn’t even bother to call me back after promising to do so within 30 minutes. I had to follow up repeatedly.

Despite filing multiple complaints through their customer service, I never heard back with a resolution. It's been 3 weeks, and I haven't received a single penny of my Rs. 5,500 refund.

It's not the Rs. 5,500 that I'm worried about but the time I lost following up with these people. At least you could have told me that you didn’t want to refund me the money just because you don't want to refund your customers. I could have made up my mind without wasting my time and effort on this refund process.

As a business owner myself, I understand there are certain processes in place for refunds. However, taking over 20 days to refund a relatively small amount of Rs. 5,500 is indicative of pure incompetence. Most companies would process such a refund immediately or within a few days.

It’s not a large sum that requires extensive verification. The payment was made with my debit card, which I use regularly for purchases, yet ikman.lk has taken an unreasonably long time.

Every interaction with their customer service was met with scripted assurances, but no real action. Their failure to follow up or resolve the issue is unacceptable. I have now been calling them for weeks with no success.

I strongly advise against paying for ads on ikman.lk. It’s a shame that a company of this size provides such poor customer service. You’re better off posting free ads or using other platforms like Facebook Marketplace, which provides more leads without costing a penny.

Ikman.lk is just preying on customers willing to pay for ads and then ignoring them, even though these paying customers keep their platform alive.

It's no wonder they don’t have a Google My Business account, as they would be flooded with negative reviews about their shady practices.

I will update this review if they ever refund my money, but for now, my experience has been nothing short of abysmal. Avoid ikman.lk at all costs.

UPDATE: They have finally refunded the amount, which was reflected in my bank account after 28 days.

It looks like, in order to get a refund, the customer must take some sort of action against them, such as leaving a couple of negative reviews about their business practices.

Either way, I'm glad they did refund after all this wasted time and effort.

I would have given 3 stars after the refund was completed, but it took unreasonably long and will only give 2 stars because you wasted too much of my time and effort.

A quick recommendation: I think it's best if you can update your refund policy stating it will take up to 30 days, as it will at least give some peace of mind to your customers since you failed to deliver in 7 days as per your current policy.

Lot of scammers promotes their gigs

Posted an advertisement ikman.lk to sell my land through ikman.lk , spended around 10000 LKR , only 15 leads ( clicks on the ad ) for two months. Better to use some other option like Facebook market or newspapers. Waste of money

They don't tell you that they'll charge you for your ads till the last moment. Wasted hours of my time writing an ad.

Never trust the price or sellers in Ikman.lk, they have a mafia gang called members, who publish all the scam ads. Never pay for this site to publish anything

Can't access from Germany anymore. Unusable for dual citizens.

Would not give them a single star! They will not let us publish the info on a add we payed for. The phone number I wanted appeared for a particular land sale advertisement was different from what my account was registered with. They kept deleting that phone number and posting my add. When asked multiple times at last I was given a floppy answer.They will approve your add only to take your money and once money had been paid it's their way or noway at all. Please run away from this company. Customer service agents at their worst . They do not introduce themselves, unapologetic and has attitude. This company will not go long if this is how they plan on doing business. I will tell all my friends now to stay away from this crap..P.s. if we pay for a advertisement we should not be dictated what info we can or can't have in our adds.

ikman has become worse over the years, their greed and underhanded tactics, and the extremely UN-intelligent employees has made them the worse.
The persons responsible for reviewing the ads don't know anything at all. They keep editing the ads and placing them in completely wrong categories, editing the information in client's ads and making it in accurate, and rejecting ads which look similar but photos and written details clearly show its just different versions. and this is for paid ads. its almost like ikman is trying to sabotage the client.

ikman.lk is the easiest platform for someone to cheat. They do not check the credentials/verify the phone number if its working. Any Cheater can easily advertise and get away by posting a bogus product ad.
Pls be careful of ikman.lk ads, they just put the ball back to you once something is reported saying they are only an advertising platform and holds no responsibility in individual transactions. Let me remind Ikman.lk that it is their responsibility to verify the customer before the allow their website to be used in a SCAM.

I am FURIOUS with this company's deceptive and unethical business practices! They charged me 14600 LKR to publish my house ad, but they never told me how long it would be published. Their call center representatives were also rude and unhelpful. I was told that I would receive an email with the time period for my ad, but I never received it. Instead, I received an email TWO MONTHS LATER saying that my ad had expired!

SCAMMERS-
Wajira Rent House shop is a scamming site.

They lie about the posts and waste your time and money and they take you to completely different shabby dirty places and ask for money.

shame on you ikman for letting those scammers to post their ads without checking them properly.

They advertise as one free ad. And after taking an effort fill the ridiculous fields and they ask to pay. 14000RS. Why not clear that in the first place. But via chat version they helped me to remove my ad. That is the only positive thing.

Edit: Thank you for the response. Make sure that you make it clear that you charge for those categories. This is not about the money I have paid enough sites with payments but if your website appear as free advertising in the search and at the end ask for money that is not nice. I have done my advertisement somewhere else. Where it was clear about the site and how it works. Thank you again for taking time to reply.

I have seen a post from this ikman.lk .I bought a phone from Kadawatha Smart Hub. But when I updated it at home, it didn't work again..Finally, they said they can't even pay me now.
Never buy phone from Kadawatha smart hub.

Most of the ads are fake and scam .Only few are legit. UI is friendly but overall not satisfied that much

all fake adverticement . they will Ask payment after i send they removed their ad . ikman is worst page to vaccancy. very bad .please do not pay eny amount for ikman . i have cheated by ikman vaccancy add.

Zero security anyone can put an advertisement and cheat buyers easily.
