We booked a trip for a friend’s wedding and fully intended to go. After 7 years of infertility and multiple miscarriages, I unexpectedly fell pregnant at the end of last year. Because of my history, I’m under the care of a world-renowned high-risk pregnancy specialist clinic.
Very early on, doctors discovered a clotting issue requiring close medical management. My specialist explicitly advised that I absolutely should not be flying long haul due to the significant risk involved. My GP also provided medical evidence stating I was not fit to fly — which, by the way, cost us additional money to obtain.
What I cannot understand is how an insurance company believes it can override the advice of multiple qualified medical professionals. One of which entire careers revolve around protecting mothers and babies. No responsible parent would knowingly risk the life of their unborn child for a holiday.
What makes this even worse is that this claim dragged on from January until the end of May, causing months of unnecessary stress during an already high-risk pregnancy. If you were going to refuse the claim, you should have had the decency to say so months ago instead of forcing me to repeatedly relive traumatic experiences, provide endless paperwork, and jump through hoops that ultimately meant nothing.
Apparently, according to this company, having four previous miscarriages, a diagnosed clotting issue, and direct medical advice not to fly still isn’t enough to justify cancelling a holiday. It seems your baby has to already be dying before compassion or common sense applies.
This experience has shown me exactly what kind of company this is. In future, we’ll happily pay extra elsewhere for proper cancellation cover and will never use this company again. I strongly suggest others learn from our mistake and look elsewhere too.
Dragging a vulnerable pregnant woman through five months of stress only to deny the claim is utterly unacceptable and disgraceful.

I just bought the insurance, I don't know if it works well or not. Website was easy to navigate but hope I don't have to use the policy.

I do have one suggestion. When I logged into my account, I could not find a link to start a new policy.
I could see how to add a claim, but not how to start a new policy.
The workaround was simple. I just started the new policy before I logged in.
But you might want to add that option for after I have logged in.

Unreliable company
I was on my trip when Spirit airlines went bankrupt. I did not have a way to get back home. Once I found an airline that could get me home I turned in a claim for the additional airfare reimbursement and was denied reimbursement by IMG. This small situation lets me know the company is not reliable. Thankfully it was not a major medical issue that was denied. I would not recommend using this company. Their response below shows that they are not understanding that this $251 charge should have been covered either under trip interruption, cancellation, or travel delay. We were out at sea with no way to get home (cancellation), we were trying to figure out how to return home (interruption) and when we did find one of the last flights home it was with layovers which took many hours ( travel delay) All three of these are covered in the contract. This not only comes from my interpretation but that of my lawyer. Number 3(g) under Cancellation says I should be reimbursed to this ticket on Southwest Airline to get home. We still have not received any refund from Spirit Airline ans according to their reply, we may never. Also, I am covered by number 1 under Trip Interruption since our return airline ticket was cancelled and we had no way to get home.
