I admire the mission of Imperfect foods but I got my first order and was SHOCKED at the excess packaging!!!!! Huge gel packs too big to reuse in my freezer! Foam box liners and silver sheet thermal wrappers! I understand that food needs to be kept fresh in transit but THIS very big issue negates any benefits for me. Imper. Foods saying they will collect these packing items doesn’t mean they are re-used!
Also, some of the foods are imperfect in ways that don’t work for me, like leaking honey, a bag of carrots with a carrot sized hole in the bottom that looks like someone slipped one out…. Fresh Thyme in an opened pack and dried out.
The food items are small and NOT inexpensive. I really like the convenience of delivery but not all the WASTE in packaging. Perhaps I should only buy things that are not available to me here and learn what is best to order from Imp. Foods and what is better bought locally. I feel a bit RIPPED OFF. I’m still deciding if I’ll order again. I never got a discount from them for signing up either.

I love their mission and think their hearts are in the right place. However, things are packaged very poorly and things get smushed and broken. I'm in MN and the hours for delivery used to be 12 pm - 8 am, but then they switched from 7 am - 9 pm. You literally have no idea when your order is going to show up, other than an text that might come a little before it is delivered. Very hard to plan your day. Prices on some things are ok, but unfortunately, several prices are higher than I can buy locally.

My first shipment never arrived due to damage. Second one arrived two days late so the perishables were bad. The boxes are packaged so poorly that essentially all of my produce was smashed to mush. Two glass containers were broken.
The pantry items are decent to good, however the Imperfect Foods brand cold brew concentrate is bitter as all hell so avoid that item altogether.

I've been using Imperfect for maybe 6 months and I don't have a lot to complain about. Here in Cincinnati I get reliable deliveries (though the delivery times have fluctuated here and there. Some weeks the delivery will be right at noon and others it won't be until 4ish. I'd appreciate a heads up in those cases). But due to my flexible circumstances it hasn't caused much of an issue. I love that I get a text ahead of time and can track the delivery driver on their route. They also make it easy to skip a delivery when needed.
I have been grossed out by receiving produce-usually broccoli or leafy greens- that have little bugs in them but I have since learned that submerging in water vs. rinsing will kill and remove them. (I guess that's what I would expect if I bought them from a farmer's market or something. I'm way too used to perfectly clean food). I enjoy the rotating offerings of new items, and especially the (usually) discounted prices on vegan products! My boxes are always packaged with care and it's rare that I receive produce that doesn't last longer than a day or two. I am able to get meat for my partner at a fair price and it's usually good quality. Sometimes those weird leftover cuts make him scratch his head though!
Overall I love how much this service has cut down on grocery trips and I believe it has kept my bill about the same or sometimes less than if I had done all my shopping in-store! It would be appreciated if we were able to earn free shipping once in a while - I usually don't order enough to be eligible but I still think it's worth it or evens out.
I also love that they take the insulated liners and gel packs to recycle! I truly hope the rest of what they claim in their mission is true. Would love to get a little behind the scenes knowledge of that.
For those reasons, I don't see the need to cancel anytime soon.

I held off on writing this review for a long time. Today I was pushed too far and need to share my experience. The reason that I have been a customer for over a year is that they do offer some great items for good prices. And when they totally screw things up, which they will, A LOT, they stand behind their mistakes. The reason for the 3 stars is because there are things I love and things I hate about this company, so I decided to go for the middle rating.
In the beginning, I got a lot of damaged stuff, especially the eggs, which they consistently packed at the bottom of a heavy box. It was very aggravating and messy. They have gotten much better about this. I have had random items in my box, have not received items that I have ordered, have received items that were misrepresented on their website, and a host of other issues.
I have also had numerous delivery issues, with today being the worst. I am severely disabled and the driver completely ignored my delivery instructions, leaving a very heavy box in front of my door and trapping me in my home. I was able to catch him and I politely asked him to move the box, advising him where it should be left. When I went outside I discovered that he had left it in the middle of the stairs on the other side of my house, where I really couldn't get to it at all. In the pouring rain. This both saddened and infuriated me, since I was very clear and very nice. The worst part of the delivery issues (and you will have some) is that they consistently tell you that they are unable to reach the drivers. Really? In this day and age? With cell phones and GPS? Really? But they will tell you this any time there is an issue. That is simply unacceptable and it is unfathomable that they refuse to address it.
So why am I still a customer? Because when they get things right it's good. I have been exposed to a lot of products which I never would have discovered otherwise and the quality is generally good, despite the name. They have a lot of organic items and I find things here that my local grocery stores don't carry. Each time I am tempted to walk away from this company I am reminded that I may need to give up some of these products, and I stay. At least for now.
If you are thinking about signing on, you will need to decide if the good outweighs the bad. It's worth a try but don't expect perfection. They will live up to their name.

Had order my first delivery it was horrible package did not look like the ad There was old food inside and paid 68$ for this and they just let my package at my front door without knocking when canceling the next order they still took money out my account when I cancelled they nast food in very disappointed I could of spend 25$ at the big 99€ store if that was the case
When I signed up for Imperfect Foods I thought it sounded like a great idea. Produce that is not pretty or perfect but still fresh and tasty. However, the reality is that I have now received two deliveries with several fuzzy moldy rotten produce items. Some of the cucumbers were not entirely mushy and fuzzy. I cut about half off and was able to eat the other half. The nectarines were not salvageable the mushy rot was too far into the fruit. The tomatoes were bursting and severely bruised. The corn looked alright until I pulled back the husk. That is when I saw the black mold growing on and around more than half of the kernels.
I had one remaining month of discounted delivery but I am not interested in paying for old produce. Not pretty does not mean old but old is what I received two weeks in a row.

I've done 6 orders with Imperfect Foods...mainly because I had a discount code for my first 5 orders and then they offered an additional discount code when I tried to cancel. I will be fully canceling for the following reasons:
1) Their food isn't even local. I've been using them during peak produce season in Washington and they can't seem to even find produce to send me from my state...or even Oregon! At times I've even receiving items from Mexico when I could go to dozens of local farms to purchase the freshest produce possible - often at the same cost!
2) Their prices aren't actually that impressive. You may save a tiny bit at times but likely not without discount codes. Smaller sized produce also means more waste and more time prepping when using. Admittedly, some items were OK values but often that was because of discount codes. Very few items actually save money from grocery store prices...and again, the grocery store was likely more local!
3) They mess up orders! I did 6 orders...2 were horribly flawed...and they still charged a delivery fee even after my complaint. I would have to go to the store to get missing ingredients for meals - making the delivery fee even more infuriating. Yes, they refund items when you complain but if I wanted average produce, I might as well just head to my local market which will also reduce waste of getting products all at once that I may not be able to use in time.
4) There is nothing green about this company. This is all a fake marketing scheme to make you feel better about your purchases. Sending products up from Mexico when I am surrounded by local farms producing the exact same products is not helpful. The amount of packaging material is crazy. They'll take it back on the next order but that's mainly because it is a cost savings to them. This is a for-profit business. Don't let their "green mission" fool you.
Support your local Co-ops and small farmers...that will actually do better in the end. This company is extremely disappointing.

Reliable deliveries in my area (Connecticut), great quality food, and reasonable prices once you account for the time and driving you save by not going to the grocery store. Honestly haven't had a single problem over months of deliveries!

I really wanted this to be a great experience. I have ordered two boxes and did not receive either one. They don't get a third bite at the apple and I will be cancelling my account as soon as I get my latest refund. First time, I received an email that the box could not be delivered (fedex destroyed it) and this week, no notice, no box, no shipping notification. Have emailed twice for an update on what's going on and where the box is - radio silence. Do not recommend this company at all.

Literally every order has had at least one broken container or split meat package in it. Often there is at least one missing item. Every package is a call to customer support, and they credit us -- but I don't want credit as much as I want my order correct. We tried a second time after months away from the service, but again: same problems. And this time they failed to deliver any of the meat we ordered. Customer service says they'll get a box to us by last night; nothing has arrived, and their system has marked the box as delivered. Stay away from these guys.

It takes some effort for a company and products that I wanted to like, that I was more than willing to give the benefit of the doubt too, numerous times,to cause me to turn my back on, but imperfect foods has done it.
To begin with, they never managed to fill an order correctly, it was never even close. It was kind of like playing the lottery, you never knew what would be delivered. They were decent about credit etc, but who needs to waste your own time dealing with their ineptitude? The fresh produce was mediocre, at best. The amount of waste that because of covid you are stuck with is astronomical, and. It turns out being as, or more expensive than the grocery store.
You will get an endless stream of spam cajoling you to return after you cancel.
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me…no thanks

The produce, in *July* is tasteless.
I’ve re-opened my acct with them several times, and cancelled each time.
In addition, I believe this Silicon Valley etc app’s mission statement is BS: A) they’re in business to Make Money, NOT “Save The Planet”; B) they’re probably diverting food to themselves , for profit, that would go to people in need at food banks.

Just found out from customer service that "freshly packed" means its packed on a Monday and can sit in the warehouse for the week until its delivered. So usually my order sits in a warehouse for 2 days, then in a delivery truck until they get it to my door sometime around 7pm. They do put the meat and cheese on a cold bad with an ice pack, but that means my lettuce and other produce is packed against the ice pack and gets burned while everything slowly defrosts.
This week we are delayed a day because they don't have a shortage of drivers. So my box is sitting an extra day in the warehouse to defrost then is going to ride around in a delivery van until 7pm in 100 degree wrath. Great! Not freshly packed. Not timely delivery. Not happy at all.

I loved the concept but the sad reality is that it's nothing like it's marketed. These aren't imperfect items like you would think. Imperfect is fresh produce either a little too big or a little too small or deformed and maybe a little ugly. NOT ROTTEN PRODUCE THAT WAS STORED IN COLD STORAGE, CONVENIENTLY SHIPPED TO YOU TO WARM UP AND TURN TO MUSHY ROT ON YOUR FRONT PORCH, BOX OOZING LIQUID AND ALL! YUM SO TASTY! I CANCELLED YOU TWICE! NO I DIDN'T LEARN MY LESSON THE FIRST TIME. " OOH NOO WE'RE SORRY" ISN'T NECESSARY SO PLEASE DON'T APOLOGIZE.

Ordered 2 boxes, produce was alright, not great. Next time to order I was swamped at work and figured I’d just skip it. Then I get an email confirming my box would arrive tomorrow with a bunch of random vegetables, 2/3 of which I don’t like or ever ordered. Items I don’t eat went right in the garbage and membership was canceled. Not sure how they plan to stay in business when they just pick stuff out and put it in a box.

This company is going to kill someone with food poisoning ! I received chocolate packed in with raw meat !! I guess they did not want it to melt.... I would rather have melted chocolate than have it covered in raw meat and deadly bacteria !! FDA needs to investigate them. DO NOT PURCHASE FOOD FROM THEM !!

I honestly don't understand where the negative reviews are coming from. I've been using Imperfect Foods for a little over a month now and I just love it. It has made my life so much easier!
When you sign up you clearly choose how often you want your food to be delivered, and it is clearly stated when your cart will be filled, how long you have to edit your cart, and when your the items in your cart will be processed.
There was even a week where my food wasn't able to be delivered for some reason, and they made sure it was delivered the next day, still fresh, still cold!
Thanks Imperfect Foods!
