About Incogni

Written by the company

Incogni, a tool that helps prevent your personal information from being stored and sold by data brokers.

Upon the customers’ request, the tool identifies and communicates with dozens of data broker companies, so that the person’s details can be deleted from their databases.

Leading names in the data brokerage industry currently own data on hundreds of millions of consumers, some boasting up to 1500 data points per consumer.

With the introduction of GDPR and CCPA, all these companies are subject to giving or deleting information they hold on the person if they receive a formal request.

However, contacting each firm could take ages due to the excessive response frameworks companies have crafted and perfected.

Surfshark’s team of researchers contacted 36 data broker companies on their own to show how difficult this process can be. To get a final response took a little over 6 days from our first letter with each new data broker and more than 20 days with each established one.

Furthermore, 63% of the large data brokers asked for additional personal data which is not necessary to complete the inquiry (outside of ID copy), asking for a bank statement or even e-signature and thus prolonging the procedure.

“Data privacy is becoming an increasingly alarming issue, yet many people are still unaware of the hidden market that data brokers operate in,” – points out Vytautas Kaziukonis, Chief Executive Officer of Surfshark.

“As the sensitivity and scope of data they possess widen, so does the need to be able to opt-out of it. However, based on recent studies, the actual process of taking back data is an extremely tedious procedure, which requires legal knowledge and lots of persistence.

“Incogni aims to help users opt-out of these practices more efficiently and exercise their legal right to privacy easily.”

The Incogni privacy tool is available for purchase at the official link: https://incogni.com.

Simply a Fantastic Service!

We live in exciting times and yet it can be a very dangerous world! Today’s technology is enjoying explosive growth but with the benefits we all enjoy from that growth comes great danger as well, if we are not careful.

Thanks to Incogni those of us who continuously look for ways to minimize our exposure to scams: like malware, phishing attempts, and a host of other malicious threats, can sleep a little easier at night!

The folks at Incogni are constantly working to remove their clients names from the myriad number of Data Brokers active today. While it isn’t cheap, it is by no means the most expensive either. It is, for the most part, a hands free / set it forget it service.

They continuously monitor each of the Data Brokers and frequently send their clients an activity report showing the status of successful removals and those in process, making certain once the Data Broker removes your name it stays removed. While it periodically requires a MINIMUM amount of the clients input, it truly is minimal! In addition, I like the fact they are audited by Deloitte; a large multinational audit and professional services company.

The amount of time that an individual would have to spend to do the same thing would be astronomical! Thanks to Incogni I sleep a little easier at night.

We sincerely apologize for the frustration caused by the increase in spam emails you've experienced.

We understand how concerning this situation must be. Please note that we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee, and we fully honor it. Once personal data enters these networks, it can sometimes circulate and resurface over time. However, Incogni works proactively to reduce these risks by requesting the removal of your data from data broker databases, helping to prevent further exposure.

In many cases, spam emails may temporarily increase due to prior data exposure, but they typically decrease over time, especially when there is no engagement with such emails.

Rest assured, as we continue sending out our recurring data removal requests, this will significantly help mitigate your online exposure, which is a key factor contributing to spam emails. By proceeding with the full data profile deletion, we are taking important steps to further reduce any risks related to data breaches and unwanted solicitations.

If you’d like, please feel free to reach out to our support team at support@incogni.com so we can take a closer look at your account and assist you further.

Fewer scam calls and emails

Fewer scam calls and emails. The true testament was when a potential suitor tried Google me, but had to ask about my life the old fashioned way because he couldn’t find me.

Do not trust Incogni, they do not follow through!

Incogni DOES NOT provide the services they promise. I have been using Incogni since September of 2024. At first things went smoothly and I was pleased but then the wheels came off. At this point (March of 2026) I have over 250 "in progress" removals. Of those 13 have not been updated in over a year, 211 have not been updated in over 6 months. Over two weeks ago I reached out to Incogni asking for an explanation of what is going on, they replied that they were looking into it and would provide an update - no updates have been provided. Incogni simply takes your money and does not follow through. Do yourself a favor and find another removal service - one that actually does what they promise. Below you will see the exact response I have received for the past 2 weeks - not one single substantive update and no change to the status of the removals in question. Further when I inquired about a refund I was told that since my payment was made in September I am just plain out of luck - that's right - if you do what they suggest and buy the annual plan - after 30 days you have no leverage. As they have shown repeatedly, once they have your money - they do not care. Update - it is now April of 2026 and despite promising that their technicians are looking into the problem - nothing. Not even so much as an update.

just 44 brokers contacted after multiple months

After multiple months of paying, only 44 removal requests have been sent out on my behalf. The customer service says they use statistical analytics to determine what data brokers to contact, which basically means that they are guessing to reduce the number of requests they sent out. Advertising servicing for 420+ data brokers and then actively limiting the number of brokers to contact feels misleading to me.

If you want to get your data removed, just pay for the first month and you get 90% of the value of this service

We understand your concern regarding the number of requests sent. While we cover over 420+ brokers, the total number we target for you depends on your specific jurisdiction and personal privacy practices; for instance, there are fewer active data brokers in the EU compared to the US.

Our goal is to be precise in locating where your data is most likely held to ensure effective removals. You can view the full list of brokers we currently cover here: https://blog.incogni.com/data-brokers-incogni-covers/.

Incogni offers solutions to widespread privacy concerns which would be much more difficult to handle individually. I've rated it at four stars because it could do a better job of describing its value/results. I still highly recommend it.

Give it a go. I appreciate Incogni alot.

I have been on Incogni a few months now. The web user interface is clean and intuitive. The reports are helpful and clear. I love that they save so much time removing and monitoring the removal requests. Additionally the revisits and repeat requests every month make it peace of mind. I added family to the referral lists and they have been happy with Incogni as well. I recommend at the very least trying it for a few months. You will see the difference.

Incogni didn't work

I gave it a month like they said. Spam calls went through the roof. Used to get 10-12 per day. Shot up to about 30 per day. As I write this it's 9:20a and I received 5 in an hour and a half. Spam emails went up about 40%, not as much but the only change I experienced after signing up was more spam after a month.

Hello, thank you for sharing this feedback.

We understand how frustrating this is. While Incogni works to remove your data from brokers to prevent future risks and breaches, information already circulating among scammers can unfortunately resurface. Such calls usually reduce in number after scammers see that you have not responded to their calls.

We also monitor the data brokers we cover, and since we added them to our data brokers list, there has not been any information about any data breach that could affect the increase in spam.
