What a Rube Goldeberg mess of an…

What a Rube Goldeberg mess of an institution. The website will take you in circles, "For Help click here. Now tell us what you need. Read these FAQs that don't help." So you call for assistance and get an automated assistance that might or probably might not be able to help you. You ask for a human and the automated service tries to tell you that you would be better served talking to it, but it can't help, so you insist on a human. You finally get the human and they are, of course, located outside of America and they can't be of assistance either.

You want to roll over your IRA from Inspira to another institution? Good freaking luck. Your new institution says, "Hey, Inspira has to initiate the communication and transfer" but Inspira says, "Hey, your new instution needs to initiate contact and the transfer." So, there you are, left between two unhelpful organizations, neither of which will do any work to get the job done. You, the customer, are left irate and helpless. Your money, stuck with Inspira, an institution you didn't even want or ask your money to be at in the first place.

Terrible online user interface Customer Service

Terrible online user interface and customer service. Unintuitive and often doesn't work. Tried to link my bank account for over an hour. Plaid said it was successful but Inspira didn't take it. Agent said it's not functioning yet. Tried to open my account info and I get an Oops message. Waited 40 minutes to talk to an agent yesterday then gave up. Keeps asking for documentation that I've already sent (explanation of benefits). Terribly incompetent, especially for a large company.

They’re the worst

They’re the worst! I’m changing my insurance plan so I never have to deal with their FSA team again. I provide countless documents for them and they made being covered a pain. I’ve ended up paying most of my claims back. The money goes to waste due to their coverage.

Unbelievable

Unbelievable. Every single time. Do not bother using this company as an FSA thru work, I assure you, the fighting and headaches you will have to endure to get ANY healthcare cost reimbursed is utterly absurd. Completely unacceptable.

Every 6 months I get Vital Tears. These are eye drops, ordered by my doctor, made out of my own blood, for severe dry eye. It’s 700 dollars every 6 months. This is all out of pocket, insurance covers none of this. I submit the same exact paperwork to Inspire every 6 months. And each time I have to call them and get into multiple, multiple conversations this people who are paid to simple DENY PAYMENT. Eventually, after I yell at one of them, they approve my claim. But not until I’ve been denied a minimum of 4 times. Does this sound like it’s worth it to save a couple bucks on taxes???? It’s not. I’m never using them again.

Very difficult to work with

Very difficult to work with. If you believe your FSA card has been fraudulently charged, good luck getting help from them. They will tell you to reach out to the merchant and get it solved by yourself. If you charge your FSA card to purchase something totally useless on the FSA store (like a foot massager, for example), everything is OK. But try to pay for blood work in a private clinic, and your FSA claim will surely be denied. Really don't know what to make of all this. If I could, I would not use their service anymore. Update 1: Not surprisingly, after one week, despite what they say in their reply, nobody from Inspira has reached out. Update 2: Now something new. Two different charges for the SAME service in the SAME clinic on two different dates. SAME documentation is submitted for the TWO occurences. The first transaction gets verified. The second does not. Again... How can I trust this company with MY money? I am afraid I am done with them. I am not in the business of wasting thousands of dollars every year for little or no benefit. Update 3: I have been trying to pay back a card purchase that, according to them, does not qualify. Fine. There's no obvious way anymore to do so online. I have emailed Customer Service repeatedly. They pretended not to understand my issue first. Then they offered two different sets of instructions to follow on the portal to submit my payment electronically. It's clear they are reading scripts that do not apply to what I see on my online portal. Their instructions are wrong, and I can't pay them back electronically as it used to be possible until very recently. After my last message, they dropped the ball and now claim they are unable to locate my account with the information I provided. It's rare to see such unprofessional behavior and total inability to offer reliable service. In the meantime, I am sure, my card will be suspended, but I wanted to leave written evidence of my attempts to solve the issue. I will report all this to my HR and/or Benefits department. My employer should do better when selecting our FSA provider.

Absolutely unacceptable customer…

Absolutely unacceptable customer service from Inspira Financial regarding my HSA account. I have never experienced something this difficult and stressful just trying to access and manage my own money.

They continue mailing documents to my correct address with the correct ZIP code and account information, yet when I call customer service, they repeatedly say they cannot verify me because their system is not updated properly. I have provided my account number, debit card information, SS# and every detail requested, only to be transferred, placed on endless holds, disconnected, and forced to start over again.

Managing an HSA account should not feel this painful. This is healthcare money people depend on, and the lack of competent support is beyond frustrating. The automated phone system is terrible, and getting a real resolution seems nearly impossible.

Leadership, including CEO Matt Marek and President Rich Gill, should seriously evaluate the customer experience their company is delivering. Customers deserve competent support, accurate systems, and access to their own funds without hours of stress and repeated verification failures.

At this point, I am strongly considering moving my HSA funds elsewhere because I no longer have confidence in the level of service being provided.

I called customer service to find out if a 1099-r form had been mailed

I called customer service to find out if a 1099R form had been mailed for tax year 2025 and was told yes. Requested it be emailed so I could file my taxes, was told it would take two days. After 7 days of checking all folders in my Gmail, I called back and was told there was no 1099R form for that tax year. I asked to speak to a supervisor to confirm since I got two different answers from two different agents. Time is money. Not only for myself, but for my CPA. Not cool!

Inspire sucks. Excuse me, I meant to say they really suck

My employer, which is kind enough to reimburse me for half the cost of my monthly train ticket, was unkind enough to force Inspira on me. Inspira processes my monthly train ticket, taking payment from a credit card on file and mailing the ticket to me. Next paycheck, my employer repays half the amount.

Recently, my credit card must have expired. Rather than contact me, Inspira cancels the order; no chance to give them an updated card before you're out of luck.

Their web site is impossible to navigate, so I can't find the credit card update section. Call Inspira, right? If you can get past the voice-activated prompts, maybe you will talk to someone. I am on a long hold as I write this.

Employers, do not force Inspira on your employees. Process the claims yourself. In the long run, morale will be better, assuming you want that, so it's worth the expense to have your own staff take care of it.

Bang for your buck

Excellent time wasting processes- while other financial institutions respect your time and will make accomodations to help you as best as they can, Inspira instead provides you with emails with 30 day time limits to call their phone tree. You’ll have to explain to an agent that you got sent here and the agent will have to research your account and find a solution on the fly.

Even moving away from this company has the potential to take weeks upon weeks. Proceed with caution

I have spent over 4 hours trying to get customer service, all you get is a robot, which sends you to online portal, which refers you back to customer service. When you call you get referred back to portal or hung up on by not one but three different people on three different calls.
I spoke with Jessica, Hawla, and another gal in sales who didn't give her name. Then I got to distribution and they indicated that I had to agree with their fees to take out my money, and they have been taking out my money yearly since they were sent my IRA by my past employer who for some reason did not notify me about sending my IRA to a 3rd party administrator. I have been trying to find my money since 2021. Highway robbery and unjust business practices. I will tell everyone I know to NOT trust Inspira financial!

Don't waste your time - Look elsewhere

Inspira Financial has been one of the most frustrating financial service providers I’ve ever dealt with. Their customer service is, frankly, appalling. Reaching a representative is difficult enough, but when you finally do, the experience rarely improves. Responses are slow, unhelpful, and often feel scripted rather than genuinely aimed at resolving issues.

What’s most concerning is the lack of accountability. Problems are passed from one representative to another with no clear follow-through, leaving customers stuck repeating themselves without any real progress. It often feels like there’s no urgency or willingness to actually assist clients in a meaningful way.

For a company that handles sensitive financial matters, this level of service is unacceptable. Customers deserve clear communication, timely support, and real solutions—not endless delays and frustration. Based on my experience, Inspira Financial falls far short of those expectations. Just absolutely incompetent!

Update to my earlier review written 6 days ago

Hello,
I wrote a review 6 days ago, however, Inspira's response was not adequate. I am still waiting for my HSA transfer to be completed. They have taken no action to expedite it. So I decided to take the next step and update my review with some additional details.
I decided to transfer my Health Savings Account from Inspira to another custodian because it would be easier for me to invest in assets that pay monthly dividends. I needed to do that because a recent diagnosis of an autoimmune disease has left me with medical and prescription drug costs exceeding twenty thousand dollars each month of which I am responsible for a five percent copay along with a hefty deductible (and monthly insurance premiums rising into the stratosphere.) Little did I know that Inspira would keep my HSA money for weeks and weeks while hiding behind claims that it actually takes that long to complete a transfer, when, in fact, they have no incentive to part with my money, while I have been without an important source of income, my HSA, to help cover my copay costs. Inspira continues to insist it takes up to six weeks or more because there are numerous requirements that they have to meet to complete the closure. Anyone who has transferred HSAs, IRAs, 401Ks, etc. to new custodians, which usually take ten business days, give or take a few days, knows that what Inspira is saying is purely self-serving. Why make the transfer expeditious when they benefit by holding onto your money for an additional six weeks and longer. I sincerely recommend to anyone who is contemplating opening an HSA account with Inspira to think very carefully about it. If you get sick in the near future or are sick right now you will likely need to use the money your HSA earns without unreasonable delays. Your bills don’t get put on hold for six or more weeks. You have control over which company handles your Health Savings Account, so research carefully and become fully informed about it when opening an HSA account or transferring one. My original HSA company was PayFlex, and I could have moved my HSA to another well-known and highly regarded financial investment firm prior to when PayFlex was acquired by Inspira but did not. I hope that you are able to learn from other people's mistakes and make the right decision for yourself.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Inspira's website is quick but Inefficient

Inspira's website is quick but very inefficient. I went through the usual login verifications, but I failed them (doesn't that make me feel great as a client!) In order to get ANY information on my accounts, including their actual existence, I then had to go to the phone, call, answer id questions to a bot before actually reaching a person- Felipe. Once I had given him all my info (2nd time) so that My ID was verified, he was very helpful and patient as he basically walked me through the online process of giving that exact same info for a third time, then doing it yet again (4th time), as I had 2 accounts. Half an hour later, I know:
A. How much money I have in my accounts and
B. That I will take that money out ASAP so I don't have to deal with the absurdity of Inspira's oh-so-friendly computer system. I do understand and appreciate the need for solid security, but having to give all my info 4 times in one session? Simply ridiculous. Felipe saved the day as best he could. only good thing about the entire process.

Convoluted scammers

My retirement account got rolled over without my consent and I’ve been fighting Inspira ever since. Their app is nonfunctional, their website is overly complex, their protocols are purposely tedious so you never get your money out. I have tried 4 times to roll over my money into my new account and it’s taken real like paper mailing of a form they except my new company to fill out, several phone calls, emails that never get answered by a real person, and countless dead end clicks through their website. I even had a group call with a financial advisor to sort it out and it remains unsorted. I haven’t had access to my money in years. It’s not growing either! I am young and tech savvy and I still struggle navigating their business. I wouldn’t even have known my money was moved if I wasn’t diligent! I genuinely believe this company purchases retirement accounts from under peoples noses and hopes the costumer is too confused or too ignorant to notice it so they never withdrawal the funds. Scam scam scam.
