I was not a direct client with INWX, but had to deal with them. Experience was horrible.
I bought an Icelandic domain through one of their partners. But due to Icelandic model, INWX was the one to put information to the registry.
What they did was they entered my full name, but incorrect email address, so that I don't have access to the registry's portal.
I happened to be a hostmaster of a few name servers. Since no Icelandic domains were delegated to them before, what INWX did was without my consent registered my servers, and put themselves in the technical contact despite the fact that the registry rules clearly state that "the zone contact must have full authority over the nameserver and be able and willing to promptly remedy all technical problems with the .is domains hosted on this nameserver."
And they weren't neither owners nor operators of *my* name servers.
For two days they ignored my requests (their mail servers are malfunctioning, chat representatives super cocky, arrogant and defensive) until after such enormous effort from me I got back access to my domain.
Stay away from INWX if you can. No matter if you are just a natural person or a company. Transfer out your services to other provides of your choice before it's too late.

We do enter our custom e-mail address for .is domains only because most of our customers don't get along with the email confirmations from ISNIC, the .is registry. We don't do this to withhold any domains or nameservers but to be able to handle the administration for our customers. When we are contacted through these e-mail addresses, we pass on every information to our client if neccessary. When our customers approach us to have their contact handle information changed for .is domains we kindly do that.
In this case the domain was registered by a reseller that is our client. Instead of contacting the contractual partner we were contacted directly by the registrant. Due to our strict data protection policies we are not allowed to disclose personal information to unknown persons or act on their behalf without the consent of our partner. If one or more resellers are involved, we must of course consult with them before changing contacts.
We give our best to react and solve all requests that we get approached with in a fast and professional way. Even with no direct customer relationship we did our best to solve the issue. When we were contacted via chat, our support agents reacted fast and contacted our client by phone. We were contacted several times and our whole team was involved over the course of a whole day trying to explain this process and mediate. The domain data was changed the next day and after approval of our client we resigned from being the billing contact for the domain.
We will take this incident as an opportunity to rethink the process of .is registrations with us, but of course we still want to keep the registration process and managing .is domains with us as simple as possible when we act on behalf of our customers.
INWX is awesome
I trust INWX for many years now as my go-to provider for Domains. I could finally do everything I wanted compared to the limited state at popular Hosters. I use INWX as a decentralized way to Host my Domains and point it to wherever I host my websites and apps. It works fantastic!

I am already many years with them. They are really helpful and best price for .de domains. For support never got a problem. Always with right answers someone helping. Plus not much help needed, you can do all on your control panel.

I've had several domains registered with INWX since 2011 and can't complain. They offer good prices for most common TLDs and I can't remember last time I needed any sort of support from them - their website explains itself and all features you'll ever need are available online.

The company is broken.
I called 2 weeks ago to change the DNS server because there was no option to do so on the backend -- how odd. Today, after 1 call, 2 emails, and a lot of waiting, it's still not fixed yet.
The support guy said it'll take 1 week to fix. I told him I'll call him back in a week if it's not.
Guess what? They didn't fix it until 1 week and 1 day. I'm pretty sure that was intentional.
Don't do business with them.

We are not broken.
In our backend there is an option to change nameservers and this customer did so 2 weeks go. We don't accept any other ways to change nameservers e.g. by a phone call.
The requested nameserver change was successfully performed after 1 day, because the .com.ar registry from Argentina does not have automated ways to update nameservers, so it's a manual process. The only issue we had was, that the successful change after 1 day was not reflected in our system automatically, so the domain had a pending status in our customer panel, but the domain was already changed as requested. Because of this pending status, it was not possible to send a new update request, to new nameservers, as requested by our customer. After contacting our customer support we were able to change the status back to active, so the customer was able to send a new update request, which will be performed also in 1 day.
