Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Many customers express significant dissatisfaction with the service, citing concerns that the company prioritizes profit over animal welfare and genuine care, leading to practices perceived as lacking in humanity. Reviewers frequently mention exorbitant pricing for treatments and medications, with costs often tripling or being significantly higher than independent vets, causing financial strain and making pet care unaffordable for many. This profit-driven approach is seen as a systemic issue, with some customers expressing concerns about recommendations for procedures, including euthanasia, that they felt were unnecessary, and many regret that their once-trusted independent vets have changed for the worse after being acquired. Conversely, a small portion of people felt that while the overall service has declined, some staff members remain caring and friendly, though they are often seen as constrained by the company's corporate policies. However, some customers also noted issues with product recommendations, including concerns about over-prescription of medications with potential side effects and a lack of thorough consultation regarding treatment options.

Being ripped off for drugs

This is not a complaint against the individual vet, but rather the mark up being made on drugs.was charged £80 for one drug and £55 for the other, when they are available to buy for £34 and £18 respectivly

Disgusting company ethics

As others have scored, there really should be a minus rating. Disgusting company ethics. Things go wrong, life happens but the strength of a company or individual is in how they handle and resolve those issues.

IVC are killing vet practices and PETS…

IVC are killing vet practices and PETS as they just do nothing but encourage vet practices to make money and hit targets!

A stray cat turned up at my house, it was clearly in no fit state to be outside and was showing clear signs of antifreeze poisoning. My partner took the cat to the vets yet the vet claimed the cat looked fine and to let it back out. They also claimed the cats microchip was registered in the street it was found in, it wasn't. My partner brought the cat home and kept the poor girl warm until a rescue turned up to take her. Unfortunately the stray cat didn't make it and the vets didn't even bother to contact the owner at the point of arrival when it was taken there originally. Due to the sheer amount of neglect from the vet on duty this cat suffered for 12 hours when this could've quite easily have been prevented but no because it's a stray and not a paying customer they didn't care less. The vet has a duty of care, which has been abused in this case and I sincerely hope she receives some for of reproductions from this. We also have a picture of the cat before it was taken to the vets and every person that has been shown this agreed the cat doesn't look well at all!

Profit before animal welfare and loyalty.

What was a fabulous practice of vetcare in portlaoise is now owned by this money grabbing ivc evidensia. My fogs and cats will no longer be treated there. Which is a shame after going to them for over 20 years. Ill miss the staff but I won't bring my animals somewhere that priorities profit over animal welfare. Very sad. 😢

IVC a horror story…

IVC have taken over a veterinary practice near me in Glasnevin Dublin Ireland. My experience was a horror story. I was lied to by all of them. I saw at least ten different vets. They falsified clinical notes. Lied to me. Lied about me in clinical notes. They performed procedures on my pet after telling me my pet would only have a scan that day. I had no say in my pets treatment because my decisions were based on lies they told me. One vet wrote a whole entry in the clinical notes saying it was based on a phone conversation she had with me. She wrote she had advised me of treatment options and of possible further tests. This conversation never took place. This tells me they knew they should have discussed treatment options with me. It also tells me they intended all along to do invasive testing on my pet without telling until after it was done. Not to mention the upselling of specialist cat food without discussing the necessity to feed my pet that food only for it to be effective. Badgering me to have my sick, senior cat microchipped when the vet should have been discussing with me what he intended to do to my pet that day. They were like vultures circling a wounded animal. My pet would have been better off going through the disease process in his own surroundings then been euthanized at home. I sincerely wish them the very worst in their business I hope their reputation is diservidly ruinous. Truly the vets from hell

Crossroads Vet High Wycombe &…

Crossroads Vet High Wycombe & Hazlemere: Beware - do not use! After being with the practise for 10yrs unfortunately they now put financial gain over the welfare of patients. My dog was given an expensive rhinoscopy when a swab would have sufficed (only found this out after investigation after my dog had to be put to sleep). Complained and they lied about interactions they had with me, despite me having other witnesses at the time. The practise is part of the IVC Evidensia group - owned by Mars (chocolate brand). They are practising profit over genuine care and welfare of the patient. Look to an independent Vet!

No compassion or care at all. Just corporate.

In July 2025 we visited Zetland Vets who are owned by a IVC Evidensia with our rabbit who was in GI Stasis. When we got there the experiance at the vets was good and we were assured our bun could be taken home and given care at home as we had caught the GI Stasis early, cisapride suspension was administered along with pain relief at the vets so they could demonstrate how to administer this when we were at home. This was an emergency visit as it was on a Saturday as Zetland is not listed as an exotic vet but said they provide care for rabbits.

Within 10 mins of getting home Stewie our rabbit passed away. This was within 30 mins of the medication being administered from the vets.

It was then we noticed that the medication that had been administered was labeled out of date by 2 months.

I had raised a complaint and this was investigated and I was advised even though THREE different members of staff including a receptionist, Vet and Vet nurse should have checked this label / medication there was a clerical error on their side. They have said it was just mislabled and have apologised for the mistake. However they have no valid proof they did not administer the out of date medication as they have no record for the old medications disposal.

I was offered a £65 gesture of goodwill as a result to sign away liability for my pets death. I cannot express enough how much loosing our pet has impacted our lives and the lack of care shown by both Zetland Vets director saying "sometimes rabbits just pass away" over the phone, or the cold emails from IVC Evidensia where they have only looked to protect thier corperate interest.

I wouldn't trust this vets to administer appropriate care for your pet, specifically exotics. I was told on that day going to Zetland Vets was the only option as other vets were closed.

Currently this is still ongoing with Zetland Vets parent company's indemnity insurers, however if you have a rabbit please go and seek out a rabbit savvy vet, or at least a vet who can administer the correct, in date medication.

ELMO

IVC Evidensia own Sundean vets ,Lydney. I called on the 3rd Nov 2025 fir an emergency appointment. He was panting, struggling to breath and had a substantial bleeding from nose/mouth. They wouldn't see him untill 10.15 by which time he was dead. No care for animals, purely profit driven. Don't register with any of their practices, they are all the same

Would give no stars if I could

Would give no stars if I could. Since my vet sold his soul to the devil and sold to this company, their care has gone downhill. They failed to communicate properly and only cared about sending me to places I couldnt afford for treatment causing delays which led to the death of my cat. Absolute disgrace.

Hidden costs, sloppy records, and pressure to euthanise

Terrible experience. We took our kitten in and were never given clear prices for treatment, only vague talk. Instead, euthanasia was pushed as the “kind” option. Later we learned kittens his age often survive panleukopenia with proper care — his siblings did at home. We felt pressured into a decision without the full truth. When we got his records, we found details of the diagnosis added long after he was already gone. This company is as corporate, greedy, and soulless as it gets. I will never trust IVC Evidensia again, and neither should anyone else.

I want to warn other pet owners about…

I want to warn other pet owners about my shocking experience with Avenue Vets Malvern (part of IVC Evidensia).

Back in February 2025, I raised a complaint about the way my cat’s treatment was handled. It has taken until August 2025 to finally receive a conclusion from IVC — and only after being repeatedly ignored by their head office. I even emailed Simon Smith at IVC directly and received no reply.

The treatment my cat received at Avenue Vets was unacceptable. I was told my only option was to put my cat to sleep and was pressured multiple times by phone calls to make that decision. Instead, I trusted my instincts, sought a second opinion, and for just £35 at a new vet, my cat made a full recovery.

This proves that the advice I was given was false, misleading, and completely unprofessional. On top of that, I was overcharged and treated with a complete lack of compassion. The whole experience felt focused on money rather than the welfare of my pet.

No animal owner should ever have to go through this — being pressured into euthanasia when their pet could recover with proper care. I will be taking this further, but I feel it’s vital to make others aware of how both Avenue Vets Malvern and IVC Evidensia operate.

If you love your pets, avoid Avenue Vets Malvern and IVC Evidensia.

Our local take over IVC

Our local take over IVC

Since the company has taken over our independent veterinary surgery consultation fees have almost tripled and the cost of treatment has also soared.
IVC now has much buying power than our previous practice so the can purchase drugs etc. far more competitively so presumably the profits are going to be shareholders.

Since being acquired by IVC our local veterinary practice has changed dramatically. Their emphasis is now clearly on revenue, revenue and revenue to the extent that I feel totally exploited and cannot trust a word that leaves the vet's mouth.

The group has been subject to an investigation by the Competition and Markets Authority and many journalists, including the BBC.

Dog died

The specialists at the clinic are very bad, they don't care about the life of animals, they just want to get money. On they x-ray photos from the dog they didn't see bone cancer. They scheduled some appointments and did an external examination. And the dog suffered. At the end I went to Utrecht, they said you should have come earlier. The dog died.
