Nothing left to say other than hot garbage. IXL is made to improve education, but it does the complete opposite of that. It bores me out of my freaking mind, and it literally does nothing. My school a... See more

IXL: The Review
I think that some school districts should be doing something about this program. Based on what I’ve heard, people have been doing it for literal hours, which I’m not surprised by. Perhaps, they might consider changing their name to ETL for Endless Time Loop. Just a suggestion, IXL, I think that you aren’t reading these reviews given how you haven’t filed for bankruptcy. So, read them! It would make a lot of people happier.
Well, my main point here is to say that IXL sucks, so I’d better say that now. First there’s the absurd “Smart”score system. When you’re just starting and you’ve barely got any points, it gives you like 10-20 points for answering something correctly. But if you’re up in the 80s or 90s, you get 1-3 points for a question correct and -10 to -20 if you get it wrong. It doesn’t make any sense. And I can see IXL’s point of view here- they think that once you’re smarter, you should be challenged more. But if you get just a few questions wrong by accident, then bam, you’re not “smart” anymore, and you have to work even more to finish.
Then there’s the “Diagnostic,” which is supposed to be an accurate representation of your skills in math or English. Well, it’s not. I took it a few years ago in 3rd grade, and it was just nonstop questions for a long time. A lot of the time I would be using up entire classes to finish this. When I got to the end I would feel so successful, like I had just won a marathon, then I realized one week later I had to do it again. My scores were average for third grade, which is somewhere in the 300s. Then, I saw my classmates, who got Bs, in the 200s and 100s. I didn’t know how that could be at the time, but now I understand. IXL isn’t testing your skills with the diagnostic. They’re testing your endurance, how much you can endure without destroying your Chromebook’s screen. I have autism, so now I can understand why I was somehow able to pull through. It was my brain telling me to work harder, to pull through because focus and effort are absolutely necessary. But I wish I could have just not taken it and have not wasted my brain on those 100+ problems when I could have just read and actually educated myself.
I am so glad I do not have to do IXL right now. My school has devoted a 20-30 minute block of time, 2 days a week, solely to doing IXL unless you fall into certain groups. Thankfully, I was in one of those groups. I feel very sorry for all the people who have to do it. I can only imagine what some of them must be feeling during that time. However, during math class, we have strayed from IXL and mostly use other sites like Khan Academy and Delta Math. I am happy to say that now my math scores are always in the 90 to 100% range, and I am actually, somehow, loving math.
Some reviews I have read about IXL have literally made me cry, and I am devastated that this is still going on some places. I leave you with a message: If IXL is still being used in your local school districts, please do something about it. I cannot bear human suffering.
IXL is trash
IXL is trash, the lessons are hard, and the scoring system is rigged. You can get one single question wrong and you'll drop from a 90 to an 83. It's a horrible website and makes me want to punch my Chromebook...
it was the worst experience ever and I…
it was the worst experience ever and I hate it permanently
It helps students like me grow in some…
It helps students like me grow in some ways, and it helps them learn how to work a little harder, especially in times like this, nothing is perfect, but at least they are trying hard, and it kind of teaches them effort, although there is a few inaccuracies, although it may be the worst platform i ever used, but i’m not going to whine about it.
It sucks you just get more 💰 from just…
It sucks you just get more 💰 from just making kids do IXL so we're busy and our grade goes down so we work harder so our grade barely goes up like ixl grading.I can't even find the STUPID SUBJECT!!!! My teacher won't let me take my math test even though my math teacher told me to!!!
This thing is the worst thing ever
This thing is the worst thing ever, I get 1-2 points for getting a correct point and lose 10-15 points for getting something wrong. All the other students in my class hate this thing, I hate this thing, this thing causes stress and anxiety and apparently video games cause violence but I have never wanted to do something this many times on a game, then I have on IXL this is useless and get this banned, deleted, shut down, and fire the ceo.
Ixl Is Horrible to students
Okay, I am in the fifth grade and I have been using IXL for less than a year and already despise it. One of my lessons I spent over 30 minutes answering 71 questions and didn't even get to 60 smartscore. I do not recommend this site to any learners out there and honestly, my school should go back to the old website that was actually decent. If you ever talk to a student about this site, you will only hear bad things. Can I ask Trump to nuke this site?
It always makes thing more complicated…
It always makes thing more complicated then it actually needs to be and I don't run into this often but sometimes. The questions are wrong and it makes me so mad that I just get off for the day.
IXL the worst learning website
I had to do IXL today in ELA and it's HELL. It was the first time I did it today and in 2 years. IXL in 5th grade was hell also. I remember in 5th grade that I had almost cried because of one stupid question, and the explanations aren't even that good either, all they do is show what you did wrong and not even help you what so ever. And don't even get me started on the SmartScore! Today in ELA, I was stuck on one question and couldn't even get passed 76% SmartScore for 10 minutes straight, and didn't have time to finish my four assignments, and note that it was only the second assignment too.
why!
I like rocks and also I hate it the smart score system is bad and the color of the website is just plain white and boring without being encouraging and colorful
hellllllllllll
i hate it my math teacher gives us…
i hate it my math teacher gives us IXL'S everyday even ones that we have not learned yet he one time gave us an IXL that had questions he never explained kids started to use ai and other stuff to just get the answers i think schools should not be using this
Ixl learning
the point logic does not make sense how is it you go up 3 points but go down 10 points for incorrect answers. Also this is lying to parents/teachers world wide because this is making students feel anxious about finishing the skills.
The single WORST sight for learning
The single WORST sight for learning, In this world their is a difference between being able to learn and grow in your own way, And then their is control. My teacher gives us 5 IXLs every day and says they help us, Excuse me how does 5 IXLs at the HIGHEST level help with 8TH GRADE!!!! IXL FIX YOUR SYSTEM!!!!
ITS BAD (we need to sue IXL at this point)
As a student that uses IXL it’s bad… for instance when I was in the 2nd grade we were learning in IXL write numbers in word form! Easy right..? NOT… we HAVE to do the little “-“ in the words my mom helped me when I was little my mom even said “this is ridiculous” (w mom ngl) every time we get an answer right 1-2 points answer wrong? -10-15… a few days ago we were at 99 lost some… BACK DOWN TO 70 🥀 💀 also teacher, yes TEACHERS were saying that ppl in her class are getting depression and anxiety 🥀 we need to sue them at this point...
Do not use
First of all, why the heck do you go down and it takes you longer when you get a question wrong they should explain to you and instead of stunting you they should not help you go forward. There was also nothing fun on this website. And everything under there takes about hours to get done so if you were a teacher looking to use IXL don’t.
I HATE ixl so much
I HATE ixl so much it sucks but my teacher over assigns it to me and my classmates
It is so unfair and annoying and I want to blow off my computer screen with a punch
DO NOT USE IXL. IF YOU USE IT GET HELP.
IXL is the suckiest site you can use for learning EVER. the smart score makes you stressed to no end because you get a question right at the end and you get two points. for example I am at niendy get one wrong and you are down to eightyfour. my schedule is extremely busy and I have no time to sit down for an hour or two to do ONE of these skills. I am autistic and have ADHD so I speak for all with ADHD autism dyslexia and any other focus or other disorder, IXL is like trying to eat a burning car tire on a car that's moving. the only thing you'll get is blood sweat and tears
not the best and can be stressful
I personally only used ixl for one year and didn't struggle with it as much as i've seen other reviewers have, but it was still pretty annoying my math teacher was awesome but he had us all do ixl and it was frustrating...
there is a smart score that goes from 0 to 100 at first when you get questions right you get like 10 points and it only penalizes you a few points but once you get to like 60 if you get it right, they give you a few points and if you get it wrong you can get knocked down like 15!!!
on multiple occasions I have experienced something like this, for example: I am at 79 points and the homework is to get to 80 points, i'm so close! I get a question wrong and I get knocked to 65 points
WHAT
I rarely cry over schoolwork but this has made me cry once or twice
I also don't like how they call it a smart score it makes it seem like if you don't get a certain number you're dumb
I don't use ixl anymore, I now use Delta math, but whenever ixl says you got a question wrong, it takes a pause for a few seconds before displaying it, or at least for me
and now ixl has trained me to be afraid/disappointed every time I see a pause after I complete a question, which I feel like is mildly concerning
that's all, go make your decisions
Ixl is terrible it sucks I get too 99…
Ixl is terrible it suck I get too 99 and I drop down to an 85 it is the worst thing ever created and the creator should be behind bars
