As I have not got a response from the manager who I send an email in response to her email explaining the situation, I think the complaint I made has been taken lightly and would like to request for someone else to answer for the actions taken by the staff member in the gym in particular, the incident that occured in the male sauna.
I would like to explain my concerns here, just so to clarify that I am not making an inquiry, rather a complaint about the prejudice against individual gym members when staff members are choosing to act in response to a concern regarding sauna attire.
There have been questionable decision making in the last 7 months when it came to staff members choosing when and who to confront in response to gym members' sauna attire. My email below to the manager will explain in detail how appropriate clothing, as stated under sauna guidelines, have not been worn on multiple occasions by numerous gym members including myself since December 2024.
Significant number of times with staff members observing inappropriate sauna attire being worn by gym members with myself present, there was not a single exchange where staff members decided to confront and bring to our attention that we do not have the appropriate attire using the sauna.
There is a serious concern here as many gym members were not addressed by staff members for clearly not following gym etiquette, specifically using the sauna inline with the guideline for hygiene reasons.
My email to the manager has been attached below for reference.
"I would like to clarify some facts about your message. You mentioned: "He observed that you were using the men's sauna without the appropriate clothing, which is addressed in our gym rules and etiquette."
I do not know what information has been given to you by your staff members but he clearly was not the one who noticed me in the men's sauna without appropriate clothing as it was evident that he came into the sauna solely with the intention of making the statement he uttered. Please kindly clarify the facts on the incident in a professional manner and not resort to changing the narrative. This is however not my main concern and I understand now regarding my responsibility as a gym member using the sauna after our recent correspondence explaining the situation. Thank you very much.
The important occurrences of what I have experienced at the gym since I joined late last year is as follows. Underwear/towels has been worn not just by me but as well as many other gym members in the sauna on numerous occasions with staff members clearly having knowledge of these occurring as the cleaning staff were accompanied by another staff member on many occasions with us using the sauna.
This goes against sauna rules as it states clearly underwear is not allowed but still this has been going on all this time whilst I was a member. However, not once have I observed any confrontation or staff member act in response to a concern regarding sauna attire mentioned above until now with the case between me and the named staff.
There is no reason at all for such a discrepancy between how your staff members are treating the individual gym members who did not follow gym rules and etiquette or the sauna guidelines. From a gym member's perspective, we cannot believe there was no ill intention in that exchange as you have mentioned.
Please kindly appreciate what has been explained and hopefully you can see from a broader perspective that, if your staff member approached the situation with any element of discrimination and abuse their authority to single out a particular gym member to make them an example for their own personal gain, that is extremely disappointing. "
Chose the JD Gyms due to good variety of classes at no extra cost, which is amazing as the portfolio varies from yoga to Zumba, to body pump and so on. But I feel that the music is played far too loud (body pump) and I can't hear very clear the instructor as the mic does not sound well. Need to keep looking around what is next as I simply just hear white noise, not words. Combination of noises made me feel overwhelmed as I do have issues with hearing and the noise almost made me leave the class last time. Now I have to wear earplugs, don't want to miss out on training. Even at the yoga, sound of music was too loud, not very relaxing ambiance for my liking, but the workout was great. Great and clean fascilities, friendly people. Los of equipment to use.
The main issue is the parking, as the gym is situated in busy retail space and swimming pool next door, so if you are in a rush for classes in the evening, allocate extra time to find a parking space.

Not a women friendly gym! I have been a member for a year now and I must say it is only getting worse. Literally every time I go to workout using a machine I am approached by some self entitled guy asking me how many sessions I still have to do and when he does not like the answer I am told by him a number of sessions I am allowed to do and would not walk away staring at me! I even experienced a guy watch me just getting on a machine and still asked me how many sessions I had left despite the fact seeing that I just started using it! I always work out alone and so guys take so called courage to harass me for that fact alone. Also groups of youngsters are not better at all adapting the same behaviour. I have overheard one of them calling me names and staring me up just after I told him that I just started using the machine! It is just absolutely disgusting how women are bullied off equipment and rushed to finish quicker or give up entirely. The staff should be made aware of that kind of behaviour and monitor any suspicious behaviour via the CCTV to make women feel safe and comfortable. I am now considering cancelling my membership and looking for a better place. Also it gets way too busy no matter what time of the day which again is pointless going as you never can follow your planned workout. I would also suggest putting more equipment upstairs as there is still enough space for more and maybe then people would stop harassing others. More Peck Deck and Leg Curl machines are needed. One is just not enough if you are willing to take on so many members In your gym! People leave frustrated because of lack of equipment and the huge number of members visiting the gym. You need to adapt safety measures for women!!!! Toilets lack toilet paper! Drinking bottles are left all over the gym floor. Guys refuse to put heavy weights back walking away and expecting others including fragile women to do that for them! This should be monitored by the staff and signs put up everywhere asking members to put weights back with a warning! I will be writing a formal complaint to JD GYMS regarding all the issues.

I had a tour of this facility but found about about a data breach by the assistant manager Ricky and how he had accessed personal information and screenshot it and used it for his own gain. Very disappointed, Ricky should be removed from his position as he can’t be trusted having access to members personal information.

The actual gym is nice, the machines etc. Have to make sure you go at a decent time otherwise is will be packed.
But the App needs some major improvements, I would like to see how busy the gym is before setting off, there's should a gym feed but it's just stuck at updating since Chatham opened and there's no progress. I think overall it's a decent gym but please update and improve the app!!

I have been going to JD gym Chatham since January and have to say the staff are amazing and very helpful. The manager will always answer your questions and the staff are always happy to help you and show you how to use the equipment if you ask. The place is clean and there is always enough equipment for people to train at any time. It’s a good way to meet new people and share knowledge and learn. The classes times are good and the instructors are amazing.
I would also like to add a big thank you to Dan who is a personal trainer and I have been training for 2 months due to health issues. Dan is amazing in supporting your health needs and is happy to always help others. It’s always good to have a PT session to see what your body is capable of as you would be surprised yourself . Thank-you so much Dan and the JD team

The staff is super friendly, the equipment is top-notch, the facility itself is always clean and well-kept. The manger, Amandeep, is really good too, she’s dedicated and passionate about running the gym, and it shows in every aspect. Defo recommend it!
