Faulty product

Bought a laptop less than a year and a half ago and it is already falling apart (the screen is coming off). Despite being inside the warranty period, they are refusing to fix it.

Purchased a Bosch washing machine from John Lewis.
Price similar to other retailers but unlike them John Lewis include delivery set up and recycled. The delivery drivers were excellent nothing too much trouble. After completing the installation run a quick cycle
To make sure everything was working. They were very peasant and very positive. Defiantly the best company for customer service

What ever happened to the great…

What ever happened to the great customer service John Lewis was famous for ? instead of helping you with problems you may have with purchases they fob you off to the manufacturer it’s really not worth being loyal to them you may as well take your chances elsewhere .The end of an era.Their great customer service was why they were always my first port of call

Never again. Expected at least a modicum of service

Purchased a printer that developed a fault within days. After about half an hour 'chatting' online with customer services answering inane and patronising questions we are told to contact the manufacturer. John Lewis are not prepared to involve themselves in dealing with the matter at all. Frankly, if this is their approach to online retail compared to, say, Amazon they have no hope.

Disinterested at Best

I bought a silk pillowcase from John Lewis online during the first lockdown. Before the second lockdown it had literally disintegrated so I phoned them and was advised to take it back to store which I did. They replaced it and despite incredibly careful washing and drying, the replacement has also disintegrated. I contacted John Lewis online as the shops are closed on this third lockdown. Not our problem was the long and short of it. It’s been replaced once ... take it back to the store! Very helpful - NOT

Brilliant customer service

I’ve always had nothing but excellent customer service when visiting JL stores. I recently made an online purchase and encountered some issues with the delivery. I contacted JL as soon as I opened my parcel and found the damaged item. JL were so quick to resolve the problem - within 24 hours they resent me the damaged and missing item with next day delivery. I will definitely continue to buy and recommend JL, they have a good reputation for a reason..because they are good and trustworthy.

The poor service from John Lewis…

The poor service from John Lewis continues, I wrote a review on here and their reply is so typical, I have attached it below on here so you can see.
They just pass the book and tell me to go back to Bosch so Bosch can instruct me how to use the dryer. I know how to use the dryer, I have the manual and its easy, put my washing in and choose an appropriate setting considering the weight and the type of clothes as in cotton mix etc. They just patronise me and are not taking responsibility to replace my faulty dryer. They do not care about after sales anymore, even though I said it was faulty 5 days after it was delivered.
They are great at selling, but if your purchase is faulty they just rely on the manufacture to prove it and sometimes that is not easy. They never believe your word. See their response below:-

Hi Helen, I'm sorry to read about the issues you've had with your tumble dryer and that despite the engineer's visits you remain unhappy with your appliance. If you continue to have trouble with your machine I'd recommend making contact with the Bosch Product Support team. They will be able to advise on how to use the machine in the best possible way. They will also be happy to troubleshoot and discuss the tumble dryer setting with you in greater detail. ^Sophie

New Samsung TV which shuts down and intermittently the picture breaks up. Contacted JL customer service who sent a third party engineer who diagnosed a faulty circuit board which had to be ordered from overseas and will take several weeks to arrive. In the meantime we have to put up with a TV with a mind of it's own!!

Dishwasher instal destroys kitchen - John Lewis won't help

A recent dishwasher install went badly, kitchen unit badly damaged. Complained immediately to installer who denied it, provided ample evidence to John Lewis. Having investigated, and with no substantial evidence to prove I'm lying, John Lewis won't act as they beleive the installer. Absolutely shocking service, genuinely dismayed by the damage done and lack of responsibility taken by John Lewis. Never use again and will be seeking further escalation.

John Lewis

On another Trust Pilot site I placed a review about John Lewis that referred to store closures among other things. I did suggest that a detailed analysis of the Trust Pilot reviews may help John Lewis to understand what in part is going wrong. I have received a note that John Lewis think my review relates to another business. The content of the review makes reference to plans for Oxford Street Branch. If for some reason JL still think the review relates to another business can they please look at the Mail On Line report of the 21 February and respond to the review saying what parts of the Mail report are wrong. Presumably if they disagree with any parts they have no doubt taken up with Mail.

Literally THE worst company to deal with regarding any technical faults, please buy your tech elsewhere!

Honestly I cannot believe how awful the customer service from this company has actually got.
I have been a loyal John Lewis and Waitrose customer for well over a decade and would always recommend them wholeheartedly for their customer support. No more!
I bought two Dell laptops from them in the last two years and recently had call to request a repair for a keyboard and touchpad issue on the 19th January.
A repair that should have been straightforward and timely in manner. Well it would have been had John Lewis managed to arrange so much as a collection for the laptop. 2 weeks in and no collection, nearly £50 in call charges sitting in lengthy queues to try and speak to them. I finally arranged the collection myself with the information provided on the redundant box we had been given and I duly waited for some feedback. After hearing nothing for another 2 weeks I rang JL to be told they would not be repairing the laptop due to screen and liquid damage. I was completely overwhelmed as the laptop was sent with no screen damage or liquid damage and photographic evidence was taken to back this up. When I provided the evidence to JL they agreed to accept the repair, though not without more long stressful phone calls and a suggestion I was lying about when I had taken the photos? They also told me Dell would be sending me back my laptop that week unless I made a decision about the repair. I could accept less than a third of the cost of the laptop and they would keep it or I could accept the repair that day. So you would send me a laptop back in a worse condition than when it left? Having checked the dell repair quote I could see the quote was valid for 30 days, why lie?
Having asked for the repair quote to be forwarded to me I could see this did not mention liquid damage, further more it had arrived at JL almost directly after collection from our end, why on earth I waited 2 weeks and had to chase to get the information is beyond me.
I have sent a complaint email that has never been replied to, I have contacted them repeatedly through FB messenger, I have rung time and time again, often meeting with an agressive or confrontational manner from staff. I am now over a month in, but of course its not 28 days, its 28 working days JL, oh no, its "28 working days from the date of collection"??? What the actual?
I have spoken to Dell myself today who say they won't have the parts until next week and expect to update next Monday, by which time my case manager is on holiday apparently. I have tried to speak to her today but had to put the phone down after she became angry that I was challenging what she has said. I have never encountered this many lies from a company before. Lies, decietfulness, dodging of responsibilty and general refusal to actually do anything about the situation.
"Oh we are fixing it out of good will" really? I am feeling zero goodwill to be honest and I can honestly say that while I will continue to use Waitrose for convenience, I will no longer be using John Lewis for anything.
Lord knows when I will see my laptop back. I live in hope that one day it will arrive back in working condition but in the meantime I have to continue to try and home educate 6 children with our main laptop still missing. Thanks a bunch John Lewis.

Absolute joke

Absolute joke, fault is their own for not responding to emails or answering calls. They they dare to say will not authorise a return when the fault is their own for not answering the phones or responding to emails. Awful customer service.

gift voucher grief

Ordered a gift voucher for a relative, online, It was delivered via email and I gave it to my relative. When she tried to use it was told it was not valid. I followed up and was told 'my order did not go through' with no further explanation. What happened to JL - used to pride itself on customer service. I won't be using these vouchers again.

I ordered two Garmin watches valuing…

I ordered two Garmin watches valuing nearly 1,000, to be delivered 13th February from JL.
DHL delivered broken open box to my front porch and driver bolted before I could hand package back and sped off at speed.
After opening to reveal contents to find one men’s watch and empty ladies box charger also taken.
After contacting JL with great difficulty and emailing they promised to call back, they failed and I called again and again they cut line, so I called back, they then said after apparently saying they looked into it I had to claim back through my Bank.
After calling DHL who said it was a private driver and had gone home as I called them straightaway as well and the man said I am the only one in office wait til next week.
DFL told me today the blame was put on them by JL and should not have delivered broken into parcel.

Meantime even with photos and date and timescale JL have washed their hands of it.

Totally unacceptable and abysmal behaviour from a company that were held in high esteem.

Customer comes last and left to claim back at their own cost and extremely stressful scenario.

hours of my life i wont get back.

I ordered a domestic item (clothes dryer) in November, it turned up broken. Reported and got a replacement sent to me. It arrived December - also broken. I finally got another delivered before xmas. BUT still havent been refunded on the first. They told me they need to arrange a pickup of items. Never arranged anything. Told me people would be in touch. I've now called over 8 or 9 times, spent hours on hold. Been shuffled through departments. Fingers pointing... nobody owning it. I have 2 broken clothes dryers cluttering my house. As i type this message i am on hold yet again trying to sort this out 4 months after the first call, still no refund. Very poor behaviour. I used to love this company.
