Terrible quality!

I purchased a swimsuit recently, and on my first wear, the suit fabric started to fuzz. Very disappointed in the quality. Customer service was also a letdown. They refused to do anything but give me a 20% off coupon for my next purchase. Will not be purchasing any thing from this company again.

Johnny Was totally IS!

Johnny Was has the most beautifully designed clothes, the intricacy of the embroidery is amazing. The clothes feel like soft air. The fit is perfect. I’m so happy with my selections. The website works flawlessly and my items arrived very quickly.

Spend Elsewhere

I received what will be my last order from Johnny Was. I feel foolish for being duped more than once. Over the past year I’ve ordered a number of items even though each order was disappointing. I was sucked in by the beautiful presentation of items online. This recent order revealed contents of such low quality they bear little resemblance to the items pictured on the website. In fact, I found myself wondering if there are oversight bodies who check that what vendors advertise their products as being made from actually contain those materials. For instance, one blouse I received is supposed to be 100% silk. There must be a number of quality variations with silk because what I was sent feels unlike any silk garment I have ever worn over my 65 years on this planet. It’s rough, drapes poorly, and certainly is no candidate for a representative of that material.
There are too many wonderful offerings out there worthy of higher price points. Johnny Was is not among them.

I love the brand but customer service is very much lacking.

I love the brand and proceeded to purchase yet another piece on Boxing Day. I purchased the piece. It was the wrong size. I contacted the companies’s office and they said to re-order the right size and they would refund the first one. When I re-ordered the replacement one they charged me full price not the Boxing Day price and guaranteed me a refund of the difference and I have been struggling now since Boxing Day to get that refund the company. does not honour its promises.

Faulty stock received via online purchase

I can't recommend buying online because I received a top (from the US). It's flawed and they won't replace or refund. I've seen other people post similar issues so I'm thinking that JW tries to offload faulty stock to online buyers. Save yourself hundreds and only buy in a physical retailer.

My Customer Service experience with…

My Customer Service experience with this company was a time consuming, frustrating hassle. I received a damaged item. Had to call customer care to request a return label and then the replacement dress they sent was lost by FED EX. They wouldn’t refund my money until they got the dress back - a dress I never received. Basically made it my issue to resolve with Fed Ex instead of handling themselves - they were the ones who mailed the replacement that got lost but somehow I was the one whose problem it was to solve. After multiple emails and calls, I still do not have my money back - it’s been two weeks of dealing with them. I do not recommend placing an online order with this company because if there is an issue it will be nothing less than painful to have it resolved. That is if you are lucky enough to even get it resolved. Still waiting and hoping for mine to be resolved.

I will give them three stars for what…

I will give them three stars for what they were. Before the disaster, crap show of Oxford industries buying this unbelievably beautiful brand and ruining it with their awful designs and mass saturation. It was a solid five. One of the most beautiful unique brands on the market. After the greedy gross Oxford industries bought it now it is junkie material constantly on flash sales because it’s just basically crap and a complete disaster. My only hope is that somebody will buy out this brand and restore it to its previous deserved glory. Oxford industries you are absolute garbage. Your acquisition ruined my absolute favorite brand on earth and you know how badly you screwed up…either sell it to someone else or close up shop because you are killing the brand.

Johnny Was not a good buy.

The clothing is expensive and poorly made. The sizing is off on most of the pieces I tried on and the sizing is not consistent. I've tried to wear the brand several times over the years, the colors are bright and inviting. The overall quality is not there.

Just recently purchased a coat from the…horrendous

Just recently purchased a coat from the location in el paseo Palm Springs. The guy who took my purchase on march 1 2025 was rudest person I have ever had in customer service. I told him to was looking for a coat I had seen at another store in Palm Springs and described it. Without even looking he said we sold this long ago. Ok buddy, so I proceeded to look myself. I found the coat. I tried it on and said ya it fits ok but the wrists are so loose. so what does he say to me. well jusr use your seamstress fix it. what? you want me to pay huge bucks for a coat and then have to fix it?? then i said the other store i saw this coat said its 30% off. he says well it depends. this is the price they told me. i said with everything so expensive of course i want the best deal. he turns to my husband and says how do you deal with her?? what the hell. after i bought it i wish i had not! i am back there in a few weeks to return it! tag still on. i decided it doesnt fit right and with customer service as horrendous as that. they dont deserve my money for a product that doesnt fit properly

Lack of Customer Service

I called CS several times, after I was left on auto hold, a message come on, asking to leave name, and number for a call back, needless to say I have yet to receive a call back. I'm not sure what has happened to this Company, other than their prices have sky rocketed, and their services have plummeted to an extreme low. It's really a shame, how retailers don't realize, above all, Customer Service is what will generate on-going revenue and bring new clientele to their product.

Ordered the Britt puffer jacket- jadeey
absolutely loved the print BUT the placement of the side pockets are atrociously placed right along the seam of the hips so when you put your hands all the way in to keep warm, your wrist pulls at the seam because they are placed to far back. So uncomfortable. Did anyone try this jacket on in the sample room?? I can’t believe they would actually manufacture this jacket without noticing this. Cannot return because it is final sale!

Johnny was , isn't !!!!

I was scammed by them. I went to the site and sale and it said 40% off sale price, with code "festive". I applied the code and it came out 58$for the dress and $78 dollars for the pants. Later I get invoice for $215, which was 70 dollars more than it should have been . I called THEY Said I needed a screen shot wow I had purchased from the company before and trusted them. So I said to cancel the order. They said they would get back to me, they didn't . I called again and they said it was too late it shipped. Final sale. I have seen the clothes change and wondered if the company had sold sure enough it did. it sold in 2022. It sold to a big conglomerate called Oxford Industries LLC. . They do not give a hoot about their customers. Another big corporation bottom line is the almighty dollar. Greedy and they also own Tommy Bahamas, Lily Pulitzer and more. DO NOT BUY A THING FROM THEM. The clothes are not as good as they used to be either.

Purchased many items at Johnny was

Purchased many items at Johnny was. Purchase dress for my daughter which I need to return because it’s too big good luck if you ever need a return they never answer the phone and was promised an email when I went online and filled out the form and it never came as I read more not so unusual online several complains as to no credit for returns so you might as well not buy there because if you need to return, you can forget it. Horrible customer service.

Why buy online.....

Ordered an item on Oct 12 with online information stating it would be shipped the next business day. So it was shipped Oct 16 (next business day?). Now on Oct 26, item still has not arrived. With the price of these items, you would expect some priority in shipping, but it doesn't seem to be a priority to the company. I may return it whenever it arrives. I've reached my intolerance for bad service.

BAIT AND SWITCH I ordered a jogging set…

BAIT AND SWITCH I ordered a jogging set with jacket and leggings. They only sent the jacket and did not have the leggings. I wanted to return the jacket since they did not have the set I purchased. They refused to send the return label for the jacket. I would never buy from this Company again. What a waste of time.
