Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 60 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers report being lured by a low initial fee, typically around £5 or $5, for a single question or service. However, they subsequently found unexpected charges for monthly memberships or subscriptions, often ranging from £28 to $70, which they did not recall consenting to. People frequently mention that the service provided was generic, unhelpful, or that their questions were not adequately answered, despite the unexpected charges. Customers also faced significant difficulties in obtaining refunds for these unexpected payments, with some resorting to their banks or PayPal to dispute the charges. Several reviewers highlight that the true cost and subscription model were not transparently communicated upfront, leading to feelings of being confused or disappointed. Some people were satisfied with the quick reversal of charges when they contacted their credit card companies or the service directly.

This company preys on people looking…

This company preys on people looking for advice in a hurry. They tell you that you will pay a one time fee of 5.00 but then slip in a charge of 35.00 for a membership fee.
Without a word.
And the advice is generic and unhelpful.
They are a scam.

Deceptive

Deceptive! Charged *refundable* $5 fee for question, but then found a $47 fee on my bank statement. They said it was clearly stated on the invoice. Looking at all the reviews here, I'm not alone. They agreed to cancel the membership, but NOT the fee.
Scam scam scam!

Very deceptive company

Very deceptive company! I authorize $1 to be taken from my credit card and when I looked at my bank it was $46 that they took out. When I called they said I joined a membership. I did not authorize any $46 to be taken from my account. This company is a scam I would not use them. After calling back a second time and threatening the better Business bureau and leaving the bad review they refunded my money.

Stealing money!!!!

I get the $5 fee being charged, but to turn around & charge the $46 fee. Completely wrong. I reported it as fraudulent on my debit card so now my card is blocked. If I could've given no stars I would. Just know, the 1 star is really a -1. Never, ever use this.

Although I received the advice I was seeking, they are very misleading in there approach. I was told there was a $5 fee which was refundable. After I canceled the membership there was still a charge on my account. When I contacted them I was told that I would not be billed in future, but they would not refund the $51. That left me a negative balance in my account. They should advise up front that a one time yearly fee will be applied without being refunded

A $5 trial charge was required to chat with a technician. Unbeknownst to me, due to deceptive fine print, an additional $30 showed up on my credit card charge for a monthly subscription that had no consent from me to authorize. I did not try to get a refund, but probably should have.

Just Answer UK

My husband needed the answer to a technical question so, having read the blurb about this company, he thought he would give it a try. £1 for a 7 day trial, which he did, got a rubbish answer to his question and unsubscribed. The message on the screen told him he had successfully unsubscribed and that they were sorry he was leaving. 3 days later, we got a message from our bank to say they had blocked our credit card due to suspicious activity - from Just Answer requesting £30. My husband contacted Just Answer by phone and eventually spoke to someone who said they hadn’t received any unsubscribed message from him, even though it had been up on the screen. As it was within the 7 days free trial we asked them to stop any further charges, but the £30 transaction unfortunately had gone through. They eventually agreed to refund us the monthly fee. The credit card company said that this company was well known to them and although a legitimate company, they have very strange dealings and that’s why they had put a block on our card. We have since had confirmation from Just Ask to say they are refunding the £30 in 3-5 working days, so they’ve got our money for quite a few days. This is obviously how they work and you have to be very observant. I would advise giving them a wide berth.

Very misleading if you trust in the honesty of their advertisement

Very misleading if you yare told that you will be charged a nominal fee. I had online chat with Dr(think it could be AI as answers were very generic and did not help at all) but the catch is that they don’t make it clear at the start that as well as the fee you are automatically enrolled in a membership fee which is immediately charged and that you will be subsequently charged monthly. Unless you go right through the blurb you would never find this. So they charged $66 for information that is freely available on google.

I signed up for justask under the…

I signed up for justask under the pretense that I would pay $1 and they charged my bank acct $46. When i reached out to them they said no $1 that it was $46. I stated my husband just had a stroke on June 5th and we couldnt make our rent until 2 days ago bcuz of his health he cannot work he's paralyzed on his left side. I would never have used this service had their promo not said $1. I was looking for tech support for a PS4. Of which neither techs that i chatted with resolved my 2 questions. I resolved the questions thru you tube. I was trying to pair a new controller and no matter what i said to the tech he kept saying that the controller was faulty. It was brand new. I told him multiple times it wasn't a bad controller. Unbeknownst to me my controller was already paired. My other question was where can I locate the settings button on the PS4 app. I never got a correct answer so i disconnected from the chat. They were both simple questions. It would've been worth the $1 for their trial but never would I pay for their subscription. I tried to chat with them and i was disconnected from their Agent even though he could clearly see I was still typing. So unprofessional ! They have yet to respond back to me and their charge is still pending my bank acct which it will not clear bcuz i have filled a complaint with the fraud dept w/Chase bank. I am also going to contact the Better Business Beau. I am a senior citizen and I believe this practice is unethical by tricking your customers. I will change my 1 star rating if they refund my money without my bank rejecting their charge.

I used this service in March '24 regarding a problem with a household appliance. I paid an initial £1 as requested and exchanged a few messages. The problem wasn't solved and I did not agree to signing up to a monthly payment. However, Just Ask have taken £90 out of my account since then!!!
I feel I have been duped.
I have tried to contact them by phone before leaving a review but was disconnected after 3 seconds. Twice.
Therefore I'm joining others in leaving a negative review about this company.
I hope Just Ask will refund my £90 forthwith.

Totally scammed out of £35. My internet was down. The advice? Switch of router and back on again. Useless. My internet provider sorted it out and explained what was going on.
The £35 was because I had 'joined' their monthly subscription scheme.
