This is in relation to furniture purchased and not carpets
From the moment we walked into the store we could not have had better service from Steven Bligh. He was not pushy and basically said if you have any questions then just ask which we did after having a look at items we were thinking of purchasing. He was extremely helpful offering sound advice to our questions obviously drawing on several years of retail experience. We did not purchase anything that day but went back a few days later mainly due to Steves assistance. Not only did we purchase the original item we were looking at but three other items as well. We were told the what the minimum delivery dates were and kept informed about the progress. Delivery was excellent as were the staff delivering it. I would certainly purchase from Roger Harrods again based on our recent experience.
My father in law is 99 years old. He lives in a residential bungalow in Carlton Hall Village. These bungalows were originally carpetted by Karpet Kingdom of Lowestoft. We went there originally to select colour approximately 4 years ago.
After a fall his bedroom carpet was left covered in blood and needing replacement.
I contacted Karpet Kingdom on Tuesday 14th September and explained the situation. They said their carpet fitter lived "around the corner" and he'd call in at 1700 hrs on that day.
By 1720 hrs he still hadn't arrived. As my 99 year old father in law was now getting confused, I rang the shop. After chasing the fitter eventually turned up.
Clearly he'd forgotten their appointment.
He couldn't get out of the place fast enough! I'm assuming he was in the middle of eating his tea.
When asked when will I hear from you I was told in the next two days.
And that's the last we heard.
I contacted my usual carpet supplier in Beccles. They came, on time. The cost and colour were agreed on the day. An appointment has been made to fit.
Clearly they value custom. They also recognise vulnerable customers.
After finally having the manager/owner call us back after a YEAR AND A HALF of constantly chasing, we finally got an appointment book to stretch, our now very creased, carpets. The manager is very rude and unprofessional after coming into our home starting an argument to now not turning up to the appointment on time. We had no courtesy call to say they were running late, which once again led US to chase it up. The manager then was VERY rude to my partner on the phone calling ‘childish’. We are very disappointed with the service and the quality of the flooring. Disgusting behaviour from such a big company!
Had hall and kitchen fitted in Karndean a couple of years ago by Jason, one of their fitters. Excellent professional job, no easy task, had to latex floors, level and then almost 2 days to fit. The floor looks as good now as when fitted, highly recommend this tried and tested company
We have just experienced the worst customer service possible with this company having been in the carpet trade for over 40 years I have never come across such a poor attitude to business, carpet trade or otherwise.
We ordered the carpet, underlay, gripper and fitting and paid a deposit, to my disbelief I found the same underlay and gripper delivered for over £100 less on the internet. I then phoned the store to cancel the underlay etc but still required the fitting their response was unbelievable, the salesman said "OK sir but if you still require the fitting we need you to fit the underlay and gripper and there would be an extra £20 to pay as you sourced the underlay and gripper elsewhere". What instead of £60 you now want £80 for fitting and me to half do the job "are you Kidding me?"
Also, they wanted £10 for delivery, delivered I might add by the carpet fitter my question was "how can the fitter fit the carpet if he hasn't bought it with him" "don't know sir that's the way it is, unbelievable!
The carpet did not arrive as planned ( as I was determined to fit it myself even it did kill me) and after phoning to see where it was we were told that the fitter had hurt his back and could not lift it, after a few choice words the carpet arrived 45 minutes later and the delivery man/fitter wanted to leave it on my drive! We had to pay the balance before delivery The manager has never heard of "Pay on Delivery" they also left the cardboard tube in the middle of the roll making it difficult to bend into the lounge, something we would never have done.
My advice buy your carpet anywhere except Karpet Kingdom, your underlay and gripper from "Carpet Underlay Shop" and source your own fitter!!!
I was surprised to see some 5 star reviews for this company, but it didn't surprise me to see that these were actually for completely different companies with the same name. This review is for Karpet Kingom in Lowestoft.
Bought a new house that had the flooring pre-fitted by Karpet Kingdom and what a mess they made of it. Despite being paid to level the floors, there are some gaps under skirting that are big enough to insert your thumb, the vinyl and skirting boards have glue all over them, the vinyl itself has all bubbled up and it hasn't even been cut in around the door frames, toilet, etc. There was one room where there actually wasn't any bubbling but this vinyl had not been laid square and is over 4 inches out from one end of the room to the other. The customer services has since been extremely poor, claiming the out of square to be within tolerance, and refusing to discount the original cost against replacement for all the flooring to one of better spec.
So I have since had another company quote and when they came round they said that this was the worst flooring they had ever seen and asked who did it. When I told them their response was, well that doesn't surprise me at all, they have an awful reputation in the area!
Bought a carpet three years ago from These people, and it started wearing , but we put it down to shading. I am the only person in the lounge where this was laid. We had the same in The Hall, but replaced it after 2 years, it was worn, but we did not complain.
The lounge was inspected by two carpet-fitters of 40 years experience each.
They both said it should have not worn like it, in such a short period.
I sent an email to Karpet Kingdom, outlining my complaint.
Karpet Kingdom sent an estimator? round and after two weeks of waiting, I contacted the firm and Steve Harrod, said that in the opinion of his Estimator, it was normal-really? with one person walking on it-for the time period.
Obviously now, you and Karpet Kingdomcan save money by getting this estimator to lay the carpets, as he is quite an authority on the carpets business.
At no time did Karpet Kingdom refer it to the Manufacturer, but blithely said they would look sympathetically on a discount should I REPLACE IT.
CAVEAT EMPTOR! buyer beware with Karpet Kingdom
