The tour started already at 5am in the morning at the lobby of our hotel. Kay - the owner of the company - welcomed us warmly and brought us to the meeting point in Playa del Carmen where we met the other couples and our tourguide Claire. During the ride to Chichen Itza they provided coffee, soft drinks, water, sandwiches and fresh fruits for free in the van. In Chichen Itza we were one of the first 100 tourists onsite due to the early arrival which was great for taking pictures and for extended explanasons about the Mayan culture and Chichen Itza itself. After around 2 hours we went on to the first cenote where we could go swimming in the crystal blue water with a temperature of around 24 degrees Celsius. Again we were almost alone there - Claire told us that most of the other companies go first swimming and afterwards to the ruins. We continued with lunch at the town of Valladolid where we could order any softdrink and a main dish which was also included in the package - amazing!!
After some time for shopping there we went on to the last cenote where swimming was possible again. Afterwards we went back to the hotel - again with drinks and snacks provided in the van.
Especially to mention is that they take the toll road which saves you a total of up to 2 hours of driving depending on the traffic.

During the whole day there were pictures taken from our guide that we were sent afterwards per mail.

All in all a fabulous trip that we would recommend to everybody.

We did two private tours with Kay tours and they exceeded our expectations! The first day was swimming with whale sharks, and a visit to isla mujeres for swimming and lunch. The second day was a visit to Tulum ruins and Tankah cenotes and another delicious lunch. From the very beginning the booking process was quick and easy. I was able to chat with Kay and his team online and they responded to emails nearly immediately. Kay customized the tours slightly for us to accommodate food preferences and activities, and the guides were flexible and at our service for whatever we wanted. We never felt rushed and had once in a lifetime experiences. I can’t speak highly enough of our guides Santiago and Juan, as well as the boat captain Huicho, whale shark guide Miguel, and our driver both days Gerardo. They were all so friendly and kind and we truly enjoyed getting to know them and spending time together. Also the workers at Tankah went above and beyond to help us find a lost Apple Watch, and we really appreciated that. So beyond the wonderful people we met, the excursions themselves were amazing. By doing the private tours we were able to swim with the whale sharks as long as we wanted (about 2 hours in total) and our guides found the best spots so we could see the most sharks with the least people around. Isla Mujeres was the beautiful white sand and clear water we had been looking for and not found yet due to the seaweed problem and it was very relaxing to lounge around in the water. The lunches we had both days were at restaurants, and the food was really good. We are foodies and they were perfect for us; also there were so many snacks and drinks available to us throughout the tours so you definitely will not be hungry. Learning all about Tulum and the Mayan culture from Juan was really interesting and we left the ruins feeling enlightened. Tankah has some beautiful cenotes and we were pleasantly surprised how private it felt. Same with Tulum, the tour was planned perfectly to help us avoid crowds and although we are not morning people waking up early was definitely worth it. I’m glad we decided to do private tours but I’m sure the group tours are great because honestly Kay and his team have this down and I don’t think you could go wrong doing any sort of tour through them. We hope to come back soon and take some more tours. Thank you Kay, Santiago, and Juan for making our vacation one we will never forget!

The crew were superb,knowledgeable and caring about there job and even stopped the boat on the way back to shore to pick a disgarded balloon that was floating about a mile out from land.

Okay, so first of all if you're still unsure which company to choose for your tour, stop doubting and go with Kaytours. You won't regret it. We did the whale shark swimming tour and had the most amazing experience ever.

One of my biggest requirements for choosing a tour was that the whale shark swimming happened in an ethical way. With Kaytours you can really tell that they care about the animals and the environment.
We actually did the tour twice because the first time we unfortunately didn't get to swim with any whale sharks. We did get to see manta rays that day, which was also incredible. But today, we went again and we were able to swim with them! It took us not even an hour to find them and there were MANY. At one point in the water I was surrounded by three of them. It was AMAZING. We were the first boat to leave the port and among the first to get to where the whale sharks were.

Our guides both days (Rose and Claire) were lovely. The most friendly and caring guides ever. During the entire tour the crew will provide you with plenty of fruits, snacks and drinks. So you definitely won't get thirsty or hungry. For lunch we had the most incredible ceviche and guacamole ever.
Also, they will take pictures of you and the whale shark and those pictures ARE INCLUDED. Which is just really great because it allows you to completely focus on the whale shark and take it all in. Even before the tour you will find that they respond very quickly and will answer all of your questions.

So the only reason I can think of not to book with Kaytours is if you don't like having a good time.

We had the BEST time on the Chichén Itza Tour led by Julio!! This tour was by far our favorite part of the trip and money well spent! We got an early start to the day to beat the heat - The transportation was comfortable and cool and even had blankets and pillows so we could nap on the way to Chichén Itza! We spent the morning walking around Chichén Itza with Julio teaching us all about the site and Mayan culture. He was very knowledgeable and an excellent photographer! One nice feature of the tour is that you’ll get digital copies of all of the photos. After Chichén Itza we departed for a cenote near Valladolid. Julio kept us well fed with snacks, beers, and cold drinks in the car (his wife even made us some DELICIOUS sandwiches!). We spent about an hour swimming in the cenote and basically had it all to ourselves. It was beautiful and the grounds were very pretty with showers, lockers, and places to change. We ate lunch at a great restaurant on the property and got to sample a lot of different Mexican/Mayan cuisine - it was all so good! In the afternoon we toured and sampled at a Mezcal distillery and walked around the town of Valladolid. Julio took great care of us and was so friendly and so accommodating. We enjoyed our day with him so much!! I wish we had had time to do another tour with KAY Tours because this was such a wonderful experience! BOOK NOW!!! You’ll have such a great time - and ask for Julio!!!!

Fantastic! We chose Kay tours because of the 5 star reviews and the tour lived up to the 5 stars. We went to Tulum and 5 cenotes. It was such an awesome adventure. I had doubts about going at first only because for a family of 5 it was a bit spendy, but let me tell you that it was worth every penny! Our tour guide Claire was so great and full of information and the photos she took for us were just over the top amazing!!!! Just do it! Book the trip and make some memories! My 3 daughters 11,10 and 8 loved every minute. Thank you Kay Tours! Thank you Claire, you were magnifique!

Amazing time and adventure. The owners are extremely helpful and our tour guide, Juan, was the best. We made so many memories with our family. It made our entire trip. I highly recommend Kay Tours and would take another tour without a doubt from them.

I booked a whale shark swim excursion with Kay Tours while in Mexico last summer. Everything was well organized and so much fun! Juan was our guide and he was very friendly and knowledgeable. Other tours were in the same area as us, but we were one of the last to leave! You definitely get your moneys worth and the maximum amount of time in the water with the whale sharks! The other tour companies came and left and Juan asked if we were ready to leave or wanted more time. We all wanted to stay longer so he happily allowed us to stay until almost all the whale sharks had submerged. The other plus is that they take photos of you underwater and give you the photos free of charge! I've never been on an excursion where they didn't charge for the pictures. Their vans are exceptionally clean and air conditioned and stocked with plenty of drinks and snacks. Lunch was included as well and consisted of endless sandwiches, shrimp, tortillas and guacamole. I've been on tours throughout the caribbean and there was only one other tour (in St. Lucia) that even came close to this one. I will definitely be using them in the future. A++++

For our honeymoon we went to playa Del Carmen. A family member had booked with Kay Tours recently and highly recommended them to us. I started to email with Kay tours about a month before our arrival and they were very helpful and quick to respond with any questions we had. We picked a package we liked and gave them the $50 deposit. The day of our excursion we were picked up right on time in the lobby of our hotel. Santiago was our tour guide. The large 10 passenger van was very clean, there was a cooler with beer, soda and water, plus snacks and a complimentary bottle of champagne for us. We got picked up at 6:20 am, yes it was early but it took 1 hour and 40 minutes to get to our first visiting spot so early pick up definitely made sense. It was nice that Santiago had a driver for us so he could talk to us about the plan for our day while in the van. He was full of information and very knowledgeable, spoke great English which was a big plus for us. We went to Coba to visit the mine temple first, where we rode on bikes, then he offered us to stop and eat real authentic tacos from a hut off the street. That was very cool. Then we went to do zip lining, cave jumping, canoeing and ended our day with a very nice Mexican lunch. We were out all day for about 10 hours. We highly recommend Kay tours. It’s worth the price! You have private service the entire time so you go as you want, no rush, great service. Thank you Kay tours, we will be back :)

My family and I vacationed to Playa Del Carmen earlier this month and we chose Kay Tours to take us snorkeling with the whale sharks. We did a lot of research beforehand and am so glad we went with them! Every part of their team went out of their way to make us comfortable and have an experience above our expectations! The transportation to the dock was in a very comfortable air conditioned van, the wetsuits, snorkel gear, and boat were all very nice. And the food was delicious! Claire is an incredible guide who was so gentle and kind to all of us. Even letting us use her personal equipment! The boat captain searched hard for our own shark to swim with and positioned us perfectly in front of them at each jump. And the snorkeling guide did everything he possibly could to make the most of our time with the sharks, from taking amazing pictures, to holding our hand and helping us as we swam trying to keep up with them! I would definitely recommend Kay Tours to ANYONE! They are a very professional company who seem to care more about making the experience memorable for you and protecting the whale shark from any stress than being a tourist attraction. Whenever my family and I travel, we always utilize private tours as an acclimation to the city/country/culture we’re visiting, so after 20+ tours around the world, we are quite experienced in the different levels of service. From the moment I contacted Kay about creating a 2-day tour for us until Santiago dropped us off at the end of our second tour, we walked away 110% happy!!! For us, Kay Tours is now the GOLD STANDARD by which we will compare our future private tour experiences.

Day 1 Tour - Chichen Itza, Selva Maya cenote and Valladolid. The day started at 6:40am with Martin (guide) and Carlos (driver). We were thoroughly impressed with the van cleanliness and accommodations - pillow & blanket for each passenger, snacks, fruit, drinks and a yummy breakfast sandwich (created by Santiago early that morning) - which made the 2hr drive to Chichen Itza relaxing. Martin outlined the day for us so we knew what to expect. Martin’s depth of historical knowledge was impressive. He was patient, answered any and all questions and allowed us to go at our own pace throughout the day so we felt like we were seeing all that we wanted. After a short drive to the Selva Maya cenote, we swam and played in the pristine green water. Martin stayed around snapping pictures of us jumping off the ledge and swimming. Only steps away from the cenote is a rustic restaurant set in an old church where a large lunch buffet offered many Mexican delicacies. Save room for the flan - it’s a slice of heaven!! The last stop of the day was the town of Valladolid where we visited the art of the Mayor’s palace and shopped along the town square. We arrived back at the hotel by 5pm tired but completely satisfied by the days events.

Day 2 Tour - Muyil ruins, river float, 5 cenotes, zip-lining. We were warmly greeted at 7am by Santiago (guide) and Jimmy (driver). The van was fully stocked again with the same amenities as Day 1 however the drive wasn’t nearly as long. Santiago was amazing from start to finish - personable, engaging, witty, adventurous and passionate about his job, the area, nature, photography and getting to know you, his guests for the day. His zest for life is infectious. We first arrived at a lagoon. We donned wet suits and life jackets then boated about 10 minutes to a small river. We jumped into the clear turquoise water and floated with the current and snorkeled amongst the mangroves. It was an amazing start to the day! After 30 min we came ashore and walked along a wooden planked walkway for about 10 min back to the boats. Another boat ride back through the lagoon and dropped off to walk along a path through the woods to the ruins. It felt like an Indiana Jones adventure. The ruins were special - different than Chichen Itza - because there were many examples of authentic Mayan architecture. After the tour and history of the Muyil ruins, we ventured north towards the cenote park. However with our stomachs growling, Santiago made a quick detour in Tulum to eat a couple of tacos at this quaint roadside cafe - yummy!! The cenote park was simply awesome. Zip lining over cenotes and the trees. Rappelling into and snorkeling amongst the massive stalactites and stalagmites in a closed cenote. Swimming in 2 open cenotes with the wildlife. The last cenote was “dry” - we walked along its cavernous walls and thick tree roots descending from above. Our final stop of the day was lunch at a small beachside restaurant, Lunita. The rain that began to fall as we started the meal couldn’t put a damper on the perfectly perfect day we had with Santiago. We arrived back at the hotel at 5:30 completely exhausted but energized as we recounted the adventures of the day.

TIPS:
Chichen Itza Tour -
1. Wear swimsuit under clothing at start of the day and tennis shoes for walking around Chichen Itza.
2. Bring $1 bills for tipping workers at cenote.
3. Bring a pair of flip flops to wear when walking down stairs to cenote. Water shoes not necessary.
4. After swimming you will be given opportunity to change out of you suit into dry clothes. Bring underwear.

Muyil Ruins & Cenotes Tour -
1. Eat breakfast before going.
2. Wear shoes you can get wet and can walk in for a greater distance for the floating and ruins part of the trip.
3. Definitely put on bug spray before walking in the woods to ruins.
4. After swimming you will be given opportunity to change out of you suit into dry clothes. Bring underwear.

Both Martin and Santiago snapped pictures throughout the day. They will later send you a link to an album of your day’s pictures FOR FREE! Santiago is a skilled photographer and did a lot of “paparazzi” (impromptu) photo taking vs the posed group shots. This added service was a real plus because it allowed us all to enjoy the day without worrying about pulling out our cameras.

I cannot express in words the experience we had with Kay Tours....is was AMAZING! There are MANY things to say about Kay Tours...Dependable, friendly, great English, always felt safe, FUN, relaxing, knowledgeable, clean, enthusiastic, courteous, educated and MUCH MUCH MORE! The best part about our tour is Juan taking pictures. LITERALLY, had our own photographer. It was so great because I was able to enjoy and be in the moment rather than fumbling with my phone, while trying to capture the moment! I would 100% recommend Kay Tours! This was our second time using Kay Tours. They do not disappoint. We had to change our booked day and modify our tour because of the weather. We went snorkeling and repelling. Simply amazing. We stayed In Cozumel and took the ferry over to meet Santiago for our tour. First time on the ferry but it was not a big deal at all. Definitely added to the adventure. It was just my husband and I on our vacation so the photo album with 100 pictures of our day was definitely appreciated. We also got the added bonus of spending a little time in Playa Del Carmen and shoppingon 5th avenue after our tour. Without a doubt the best day of our vacation. We will be booking with them again for our next trip.

I cannot recommend Kay Tours highly enough.

I do a TON of research before spending money on anything, and decided to check out Kay Tours for our trip to Playa del Carmen after reading some of the reviews. Kay was extremely responsive to any and all questions I had before booking my trip, and we decided on the Coba ruins/cenote swim tour. There were six of us going (four kids plus me and my wife), so I wanted to make sure everything was perfect.

It was BEYOND perfect.

Our guides, Rose and Santiago picked us up at our hotel at 6:20 AM for the 1-1/2 hour ride to Coba to make sure we got there well before the heat set in and the crowds appeared at the ruins. We arrived at the ruins on schedule, met with a Mayan local who gave us incredible insight into the history of everything we saw, and were actually up and down the main Coba temple before anyone else. It was amazing. As we were leaving the ruins, a massive crowd was pouring in - so getting to spend time without fighting other tourists was well worth the booking right there. Rose and Santiago were so ridiculously friendly and awesome to converse with, we felt like they were just part of our own group.

We left the ruins and headed to the gorgeous Chikin-Ha where we donned our snorkeling gear and swam in both a cave cenote and an open cenote. Rose is actually a free-diving expert and it was incredible to watch her dive 40 feet under the water so she could point out specific points of interest. Amazing.

After the cenote swim, we headed out to Akumal Beach and enjoyed an incredible lunch by the ocean. All the while we kept Rose, Santiago and our driver, Juan, right with us. They honestly felt like family and we all enjoyed their company immensely.

We returned to the resort at around 4 PM and had to say our goodbyes. To say we all felt like we were leaving close friends is an understatement. I honestly feel like we made friendships that day, and I can't believe there are many companies where you feel like crying saying goodbye to your guides.

The day was, by far, the greatest day of our week in Playa.

A few days later the link to the photos Santiago took was up. The pictures he captured of our day were incredible and just simply managed to make the entire experience an even better memory.

If your one decision for your trip is to plan an excursion, you would be remiss to choose any other company than Kay Tours for it. It's only been a week since our excursion as I write this, but we all truly miss them and are very thankful for the time spent.

My husband and I returned to Playa del Carmen for another wedding and made it a point to convince the group to go on an excursion with Kay, that's how much we enjoyed our first time with Kay! His operation has grown so much but I'm glad to say that friendly, customer service has not been sacrificed during his growth. Claire and Karen were amazing guides and very attentive to the dynamic of our group. They were able to pace our excursion so that everyone enjoyed their trip and they even had contingency plans in case the weather turned to the worst. If ever I'm back in Playa del Carmen for a third time I will aboslutely book an excursion with them!

Thoroughly professional outfit with responsive communication (email and facebook messenger) who tailor to your requirements rather than offering packages.
Take their recommendation and get up early - to have the temple at Coba to ourselves made it oh-so-special compared to being crawled on by tourists.
You are provided with an amazing guide to escort you throughout your day and local guides at the locations hand-picked to be equally phenomenal to ensure every step is special.
The transport is comfy and they provide more snacks and drinks than you could possibly consume. (Booster seats available).
Something we hadn't been expecting was that our wonderful and informative guide, Claire, would also play Paparazzo and after the trip we received a weblink to over 100 pictures from our day capturing some really special moments - at no extra cost.

Fantastic tour, impeccable service and friendly, knowledgable people! What more could you ask for? My family and I had a wonderful time touring Chichen Itza, Ek Balam and Valladolid with Kay and his team. They were awesome! At the end of the day we felt like they were our friends, not just strangers whom we met at 6 am that morning. We saw everything we wanted to see (which was magnificent) before the crowds arrived and at our own pace. Our experience with Kay was definitely first class all the way. The team really cares to give their clients the best experience. We are so impressed that when we return to Playa del Carmen next year, we are definitely going to book another tour with Kay.
