The worst

The worst! The quality of the car is bad but to make matters worse, their customer service is horrible! They truly don’t care about their customers. I was sent a safety recall letter that basically said that there’s a part in my car that is defected and it could cause the engine to catch fire. The signs to look for are the smell of burning rubber and smoke. There is no remedy as of now for this issue. In order to get my car inspected because I was getting alerts on my dashboard, I had to get it towed and taken to a dealer to get inspected. However, they told me that I would have to pay for the tow and I would have to pay for the rental while it was getting inspected or if something was wrong with it. Called my local Kia who told me I had to get on the waiting list to get it inspected. They said, as of now since there’s no remedy the only thing I can do is drive the car, and hope that the engine doesn’t catch fire. You would think since they built a car with such a default that they would make accommodations to make their customers feel safe but no, they do not care. If you’re thinking of buying… don’t !

I bought my KIA Sportage Hybrid at…

I bought my KIA Sportage Hybrid at “Jersey City Kia” dealership located in Jersey City, NJ. The problem started right after I signed the contract.
Firstly, I was appalled to discover that the dealership attempted to sneak in additional fees, totaling $1400, into the contract without my knowledge or consent. It was only after I carefully reviewed the contract at home that I noticed these unauthorized charges. They also underpaid for my trade-in car by a $1000 of a price that was agreed upon. This discrepancy only came to light after I carefully examined the contract at home. This deceptive practice was an attempt to scam me out of my hard-earned money. Upon returning to the dealership and demanding a resolution, the staff only agreed to redo the contract after I threatened LEGAL ACTION.
Secondly, the dealership exhibited a blatant disregard for honesty and transparency. I purchased a new vehicle and entrusted the dealership with the responsibility of registering it on my behalf. However, they continuously lied to me about the registration process, attributing the delay to the DMV. Frustrated by the prolonged delay, I took the initiative to contact the DMV myself, only to discover that the car HAD NEVER BEEN REGISTERED! It was only when I confronted the dealership and threatened LEGAL ACTION ONCE AGAIN that they finally took action. This level of deceit is not only disconcerting but also undermines the trust I placed in Kia and its authorized dealers.
Thirdly, the dealership failed to provide me with the necessary inspection sticker or any instructions on how to obtain it. Consequently, I was unknowingly driving without the proper documentation, which resulted in me being fined. This NEGLIGENCE on the part of the dealership is both unacceptable and avoidable. It is the responsibility of the dealership to ensure that all necessary documentation is provided to customers, and their failure to do so has resulted in unnecessary inconvenience and financial penalties.
When I contacted KIA regarding those issues, I got NO RESPONSE WHATSOEVER! I sent requests to customer care and wrote letters to KIA America headquarters, but no one EVER contacted me.
Customer service is nonexistent with this company and if you ever need it you’re on your own. The company just doesn’t care what the local dealership do. They also tell you that they have the best warranty in America but what they won’t tell you that it’s virtually impossible to get your car serviced when something breaks. For example, scheduling an appointment with the local service station in Staten Island: one month waiting time. ONE MOTNTH! So good luck to you if something is broken in your car, you’ll be waiting for a month until they even get to diagnose the issue.
To sum it up: DO NOT BUY KIA! I made that mistake once and I’ll never gonna do it again!

Okay so I had cancer and was an in lawsuit because of the cancer got a small settlement bought a 2015 Kia optima paid cash for it had it not even two years the motor sees up I find out it's got a lifetime warranty on it okay well they're telling me it takes 4 to 6 weeks for a inspector to look at it and then another four to five months before they can put a motor in Kia says they'll pay for a car rental well I get disability I don't get thousands I get several hundred I can't go out and rent a car Kia won't help me and then I find out that if I do rent a car I don't get any money back until my car is fixed and in my possession well like I said I get disability I don't work there's no way I can do this Kia won't budge won't help and I think it's really sad it's their fault that my motor seized up not mine the lady at the customer service lady I talked to was really inconsiderate and rude and so now I have to go seven or eight months without a vehicle I have problems with the chemotherapy treatments that I had which I have to go to a doctor three times a week and I can't do all that because I don't have a car and Kia tells me I have to rent it and then when my car is done seven or eight months later then I can file a claim to get money back I think that is so wrong there's a lot of people that can't rent a car like that and I am one of them Kia should be ashamed of themselves that's all I have to say about him they don't care about the people they just care about themselves

20 year Former customer

I have been a loyal customer of KIA for over 20 years. I have bought all of my KIA’s from the same place in Crystal River FL. The dealership recently changed to Jenkins. I will never buy a vehicle from any of their dealerships again. Their salesman are the typical fast talking sales people you hear about. The trade in price changed several times, the down payment changed too. By the time it was finished I was not sure what I was paying. That’s on me. Then I met the smooth talking financing person, again talked about everything but the pavements. Talked about the warranty and I didn’t understand that I was buying a 10 warranty that I didn’t really need. When I did I got the dealership to rewrite the contract. When I went in to sign the paperwork the interest rate went up almost 3%. They were going to make up the lost money on the warranty by increasing the interest rate. No one at KIA American tried to help me with a terrible dealer. KIA just lost a 20 year customer.

I would also give this company a 0 if I…

I would also give this company a 0 if I could. We have a dead and useless 2015 Kia optima that was brand new when purchased. (Now with 135,000 miles on it) We have moved a few times since then and did not get notice of the ‘upgrades’ needing to be done. When we finally did go to get them done…the car was fine. We called the dealership to inquire about the upgrades and the problems everyone was having and this really messed everything up. Somewhere in our file it states that we were having engine trouble, because we called to inquire. The dealership did the upgrades then shortly after, we had the problems. They have denied the engine replacement. I had one person at Kia customer care that was great and helpful. And come to find out she transferred. The rest of the people in there are short and unhelpful. The settlement was actually written so it WOULD exclude people. Because it was not written as a ‘recall’ they have no responsibility unless you did/do the knock sensor. It’s honestly appalling. They deliberately found a way around having to replace engines in all the cars. Kia is a billion dollar company and their refusal to stand behind their cars is wrong on so many levels. It’s a company of the rich get richer and the rest of us are stuck. I will never own another Kia…and I am hoping this post may help one person make a better decision and not purchase from Kia. A company that does not FULLY stand behind their cars (with a recall that HAS TO FIX ALL THE CARS) is dishonest and not worthy of your business.

Wish I could give them a Zero

If I could, I'd give them zero. Kia costumer support did nothing to help me. I asked to speak to a manager multiple times and every time I was transfered to the same guy who pretended not to hear me. Worst experience of my life after having an engine go out, and the replacement go out after 2 months. I'm never going back to kia, nor any car brand connected to them. I will never suggest their cars. I'm in debt as a 26 year old an incredible amount after this. I hope someone tries to reach out to me after this God awful experience.

I unfortunately own a 2023 Kia…

I unfortunately own a 2023 Kia Telluride. This is our third Kia in a row and our second Telluride. In March of this year, our 2023 Kia Telluride, that we lease through Kia, was involved in an accident. Since March, our Kia has been sitting at the repair shop awaiting parts that Kia can not provide. This is unacceptable. We are leasing a Kia, through Kia, paying Kia, and Kia refuses to provide the parts to fix it.
I have been in contact with Kia Customer care and been lied to multiple times and my wife has been hung up on once she mentions the case #. Mark at Kia told me he was going to handle this and get back to me that same day. He promised to contact Sonny’s Body Shop that is doing the repair work and Williams Kia who they ordered the parts through and figure it all out. That was over a week ago. Mark lied. The next lady I spoke with told me I was stuck with Mark and that she would leave him a message and that was all she could do for me. I asked her for a supervisor, got a voicemail, and of course never heard back. Kia has blocked me on social media and told me they don't care about my issue. This is not a company you want to deal with.

KIA Died SUDDENLY

I’ve had my 2015 Kia Optima MAY OF 2021 so ive had it for ONLY 2 years. My cars engine suddenly shut down on the highway June 7th 2023 , Its AUGUST and hasnt a damn soul did anything about this. I was told by the dealership I got it from named Koons of Kia in Woodbridge VA that the engine is seized due to a software recall not being performed. Ok cool so when did this recall get addressed to me? I call corporate and ask and they inform me the recalls came out 2018 and 2020. So explain to me why Im being held liable for this recall performance if nobody ever mentioned a thing to me. For starters KIA as a whole is full of it and the fact Im sitting here stressing going without a vehicle for 3 months and there isnt a soul concerned nor helpful… Is insane. Im sueing KIA see ya in court! and I advice no one to EVER purchase a KIA EVER. they are crappy cars and people

Corporates excuse: Privately owned franchises!

First of all the Kia Forte is supposed to be deemed one of the most reliable cars. From what I am seeing it is one of the most reliable cars to get stolen! These so-called privately owned franchises don’t seem to want to carry out service warranty, issues or recalls and when you call corporate all they seem to be able to do is apologize and take grievance complaints and give you a case number and make excuses after you’ve been on hold with them for hours and disconnected numerous times. And even though you have given them your name and phone number, you do not get a call back from them after being disconnected, which is normally good business practice.

KIA- Unreliable Car

I bought a 2015 Kia optima in 2016. In 2018, the radio screen went out then I kept having to replace the headlights and tail lights because they kept going out monthly, it seemed. So obviously there was some electrical issues. Then, the windows passenger windows stop working in 2021. At 125,000 miles and staying on top of oil changes and car repairs, the engine locked, and I’m still paying off the car. This car gave me so much difficulty while owning it. I wanted to make everyone aware of the issues and highly recommend NOT buying a KIA . It’s absolutely terrible. I will never purchase a Kia again. Very unreliable.

If I could give them a 0 I would

If I could give them a 0 I would! When Kia's started getting broken into and stolen in my area, Kia refused to provide us with a Club for the steering wheel. After our vehicle got broken into twice and the window got smashed both times they refused to help pay for the new windows or do the service themselves. They also blew off my calls. Then my husband locked the key in the car accidently and they made him wait over an hour before informing him he was "too far" for them to come out and help him. They instead told us to file a claim with our insurance, which would negatively effect our insurance score and rates! I had to leave work early and drive an hour to bring him the second key. When I asked to speak to a manager they ignored my call and have yet to call me back. Kia sucks, and there vehicles are made horribly and cheaply as well! NEVER BUY A KIA!!!!

I am beyond frustrated

I am beyond frustrated. Still waiting for a part for my Kia Optima for over 4 months after being told initially that there were some parts in country. Customer service is no help and they keep telling me that they will elevate my priority and that someone will call me back. Still no part and no call backs. At least they have supplied me with a rental. I loved my first Kia Optima. This is my second KIa Optima and with this current experience it will most likely be my last. If they truly elevate my part request and get my car back to me in timely matter. I would have a better view of the company.
