Very bad experience

Very bad experience. We were told the car would arrive soon, but we ended up waiting more than 50 minutes with no clear information or updates. No one could tell us what was happening.

This shows a complete lack of respect for customers’ time. After waiting and receiving no proper explanation. When we asked to cancel the reservation, they couldn’t even tell us if we would receive a refund or not. This is completely unacceptable and very disrespectful to customers’ time.

Very disappointing service and poor communication. I would not recommend this company.

Misleading insurance policy & poor customer service

I purchased insurance through Booking.com as part of my rental. When I arrived at the counter, staff refused to accept it with no explanation and demanded I either buy their own insurance or pay a €2,000 deposit on the spot. No warning, no transparency — just an ultimatum.

When I complained, customer support responses were vague and evasive, never addressing the actual issue or taking any accountability.

If you're booking through a third-party platform, be aware: the insurance you buy may simply be ignored at the counter. Book elsewhere if you value honest service.

We are sorry to hear that the situation at the counter did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to clarify a few important points regarding the rental conditions.

The information about the two available options to pick up the vehicle — blocking the security deposit or purchasing the local insurance — is clearly stated during the booking process in the Important Information section, as well as in our Terms and Conditions. Additionally, this requirement for the deposit is also clearly mentioned on the confirmation voucher sent after the reservation is completed. Our team is also available 24 hours a day should any customer wish to clarify these conditions in advance.

Regarding the insurance purchased through a third-party platform, this type of insurance usually works as reimbursement coverage. This means it does not directly cover the vehicle during the rental, but rather reimburses the customer later if a charge is applied. For this reason, the security deposit must still be blocked on a valid credit card, as it is the guarantee for the vehicle during the rental period.

It is not possible to release a vehicle without one of these options, as the deposit or the local coverage is what protects the vehicle during the rental. Without either of them, there would be no way for us to cover potential damages or loss of revenue if an incident occurred.

Our agents’ role is to explain these options transparently so customers can choose the one that best suits them. We regret if the situation felt frustrating and appreciate you sharing your feedback.

Worst car hire company ive ever dealt with!!

So here we go, I purchased car hire through yourselves in December for my holiday January 18th my voucher number is PT892619490 my holiday number was TTU3FP, I decided to take out the extra special insurance and paid extra at the time of booking! So no need for anything extra at the pickup point, when we arrived at faro airport we were picked up in the shuttle and taken to Kass wagon office, when we arrived the guy on the desk said that I couldn't pay the retainer on my visa card even though I'd paid for all the car hire, flights with the same card! So not having another card he said that I would have to take out their extra insurance at a cost of €409 and the €150 for road tolls if I accumulated any cost which if I didnt I would get the €150 returned, I argued the point that I didnt need their insurance as i was already covered, however he said that i couldnt have the car if I didnt pay the retainer on another card or pay for their extra insurance! I argued and argued the point and it seemed that we wouldn't get a car! Normally i would have cancelled it and gone somewhere else, but we were sort of stuck in there office nowhere near any other car hire, as you can imagine i was fuming by this time and not the start we wanted to our holiday we just wanted to get to our apartment after a 3hr flight! so i paid the extra and thought i will argue this with yourselves when i get back! I will attach the documents youve asked for below.

As a side note I must say that the car we hired from klass waggen has to be the worst car I've ever hired! The tyres were down to the wear bars there was a warning light came on within 2 miles of setting off saying the tyre pressure was faulty and we had to stop at a garage to check it! That warning light came on everytime we started the car! After two days the low radiator level light came on and again we had to stop at a garage to fill it up! Surely these things should be checked before being sent out! The whole car was in a very untidy state stains on the seats! I'm surprised you use them as your go to car hire company! I suppose I could have complained at the time but i felt I'd already wasted a lot of my time sorting things out and i didnt want to waste any more trying to swap vehicles on my holiday! I will never ever use them again and would have to think twice about booking car hire with you next year as it really has been more hassle than it has been worth!

We are truly sorry to read about the frustration and inconvenience you experienced at pick-up, as well as the condition of the vehicle provided. This is certainly not the experience we aim to deliver.

We require a valid credit card in the main driver’s name that meets the security policy requirements. Even if the booking and flights were paid with the same card, some card types (including certain Visa cards) may not be accepted for the security hold. When an eligible card is not available, the only alternative offered is the local protection package which removes the need for a deposit.

We are sorry to hear about the vehicle condition. Please note that a tire pressure warning will only go off if manually deactivated. Your comments about the vehicle’s state will be escalated to the local station management for review, as safety and maintenance standards are fundamental requirements.

We completely understand that, after a long flight, the last thing you wanted was further delays or disputes at the counter. While issues are ideally reported immediately so they can be rectified on the spot, we understand that you did not wish to lose more of your holiday time.

Insurance

Bought online insurance, but was told at pickup this was not enough, so bought more insurance. Feeling was not good. Better to not buy insurance at booking, but at pickup.

Car Return

I was returning the car early in the morning at 0500AM in Bucharest. Even though I was charged extra 10EUR for Extra Hour Drop-Off there was nobody present at the parking lot to takeover the car. Long story short me and another gentleman who was returning his car waited almost 30 minutes because there was only one person on duty who was accepting the cars and also driving customers to the airport. I had still enough time to catch my flight, but the other gentleman almost missed his. I am customer of Klass Wagen for more than ten years and this never happened before, but this is just simply not acceptable to have one person on duty handling everything, especially since the customers are charged extra fee for Extra hours service.

I had purchased Full Protection…

I had purchased Full Protection insurance via Booking.com, as well as separate comprehensive travel insurance. Despite this, at the rental desk I was pressured into buying additional insurance. I was clearly told that without purchasing their extra coverage, they would not hand over the car.
This puts customers in an extremely unfair position after arriving at the destination, with luggage and limited alternatives, you are effectively forced to pay again for something you already purchased.
If Booking.com’s “Full Protection” is not accepted in practice, then what is the purpose of offering it? Customers should not be placed under pressure or intimidated into duplicate insurance purchases.
Additionally, I returned the vehicle with a completely full tank, yet I was given a car that was not 100% full. The “compensation” given was a €7 voucher, which feels dismissive rather than a real solution.
This experience felt misleading and unprofessional. I would strongly recommend future customers to clarify in writing whether external insurance will be respected before arrival, otherwise be prepared for additional on-the-spot charges.
To be fair, the car itself was clean, well-maintained, and in good technical condition.

When you arrived at our office to collect the vehicle, as with every customer, our team presented you with the two available options for collecting a vehicle:

Security Deposit Option – This is the standard procedure, where the security deposit amount stated on your booking voucher is blocked on the main driver’s credit card (Visa or Mastercard). With this option, the main driver assumes full responsibility for the vehicle and is liable for any damages.

No-Risk Warranty Service (Local Insurance) – This service reduces the deposit amount, requiring only a smaller administrative deposit.

After both options were explained, you chose the second option and purchased the No Risk Warranty (local insurance).

Please note that the insurance purchased through our Partner (at the time of booking) is a third-party coverage designed to protect your security deposit in case of damage or loss. It does not replace the requirement to either block the deposit or purchase local insurance from us. The third-party insurance and our No Risk Warranty Service are two separate products.

Regarding the fuel level, our Terms and Conditions state that if the vehicle has more fuel than you received, you will be issued a voucher for the difference.
