LASD Studio is a founder-led international landscape architecture and ecological design practice rooted in Southern California and Northern Spain, working on private gardens, estates, historic properties, rural land and selected cultural and ecological landscapes. Every project begins with a close reading of the place: its architecture, terrain, light, soil, water, climate, existing vegetation, views, history and the way people actually live there. From that ground, we develop a landscape with its own spatial language, material character and ecological logic. Architecture is central to our work. A Spanish Colonial Revival residence, a Mediterranean estate, Neo-Georgian estates, a Modernist house or a Japanese-inspired garden asks for a different relationship between building and land. We study proportion, geometry, thresholds, courtyards, movement, planting structure and cultural references so that the landscape feels as considered as the architecture it belongs to. At the same time, a garden is alive. Water moves through soil. Trees establish shade. Plant communities mature and change. Wildlife arrives. Materials weather and daily habits gradually become part of the place. Our continuing research, Designing Landscapes as Evolving Systems, informs landscapes designed to become richer, calmer and more coherent with time. LASD Studio combines artistic direction with ecological and technical intelligence. Depending on the project, our work can include site analysis, conceptual landscape design, garden and estate masterplanning, planting design, grading and drainage strategy, irrigation and lighting coordination, materials, 3D visualisation, construction documentation, cost and quantity evaluation, and design support during implementation. The studio is creatively led by Yura Lotonenko and works with project-specific teams of designers, technical specialists, surveyors, engineers, licensed professionals and independent contractors according to the site and jurisdiction. Our focus is not on applying a signature style to every property. We look for the landscape that belongs specifically to that architecture, that climate and that piece of land.
