Easy to navigate

Easy to navigate. Upgrading the rental car centre but it was easy to navigate and drop off the car at the end. Helpful staff too.

AVIS LAX zero stars

I would give AVIS at LAX zero stars if that were possible.

In January, I picked up a rental car at Los Angeles Airport. Unfortunately, the experience was highly disappointing and deeply unprofessional.

The wait time was extremely long, and when we finally reached the counter, the car was not ready. I had booked the vehicle through my travel agency with full insurance coverage, a full tank of gas, and the rental was fully prepaid. The arrangement was very clear: I only needed to collect the car. The employee at the counter explicitly confirmed this, and my entire group heard him state that everything was prepaid and fully covered.

When we eventually received the vehicle, it smelled strongly of marijuana. The odor was so severe that we immediately returned to the counter and requested another car. To their credit, we were given a replacement vehicle.

However, after returning home, I checked my bank account and was shocked to discover that AVIS had charged me more than $1,000 for insurance and fuel — services that had already been prepaid through my travel agency. This is completely unacceptable.

Charging a customer twice for the same services is not only poor customer service, it is unethical business practice. The handling of the rental at the counter was misleading and unprofessional, and the additional charges were never clearly communicated or authorized.

This experience reflects very poorly on the management and standards at AVIS LAX. I expect transparency, honesty, and professionalism when renting a car — especially when everything is prepaid in advance.

I cannot recommend this location and strongly advise other travelers to carefully review their final charges.

Completely incompetent information desk

Imagine situation when a 70 years old passenger arrives to LAX airport from Dubai, being in the plane for 16 hrs on June 2nd, 2025 and then the LAX customs is holding him over an hour, so his luggage is moved from pick up area to somewhere else. He and his 77 years old relative, who is meeting him at the LAX, try to find out where the luggage is, ask LAX employees, they suggest to go to the information desk. But the information desk lady has no clue! First she says to come tomorrow (1.5 hrs. drive one way for us!) because Dubai airlines employees already left, then she suggests to call Dubai airlines. The passenger calls Dubai airlines, but they cannot advise. So two senior citizens walking back and forward at the airport, asking different employees, and finally in 1.5 hours they find an employee who knows where the luggage is! It is in the room behind the New Zealand departure desk, where earlier was Dubai airlines desk, and they are finally getting the luggage! I sent my comments about complete incompetence of the LAX employee to lawa.org, but LAX has never responded, has not even apologized for such terrible service!

LAX is making an effort to modernize…

LAX is making an effort to modernize and come back. Yes the concerns of other reviewers are right on but recently there has been an effort to improve LAX. It’s a massive airport that felt back in the 80-90’s era but some improvements have started to show. Phoenix is worse than LAX among other airports. Even if LA is improved the traffic jam to the airport when would someone fix it?

Worst airport in the world

Worst airport in the world. When you arrive at LAX International airport you’d think you were in a third world country. Disorganised and queues that go for hours and hours. I missed my connection to a domestic flight after arriving at the international terminal due it taking 4 hours to get through customs….as per every other time I’ve visited LAX. Avoid this airport at all costs

AA first class check in was great

AA first class check in was great, efficient and quick. The flagship lounge however is a real disappointment. The choice of food is very poor to say the least, and the quality is well, barely edible . As a frequent international traveller I can honestly say that this lounge doesn’t not come close to European lounges like BA AF and others.

Those pple in the audit finance acctg…

Those pple in the audit finance acctg dept are probably put their by the other ( upper county ?) no wonder , thus, they don't seem to be able to use their own thinking , their judgement , to make ien decision. It's all audit on paper ( wonder how the audit spits out). Pretty sad & lamed. Who gave them the job! Go figure at the county level . , just hope doge will soon make all these changes . What I've seen & experienced at these govt or related sectors are totally unfair, improper hiring, & unjustified ( unqualified) . Just wasted. Totally wasteful. Sad.

Couldn't give directions

First flying international, learning the ropes on going through airports. Landed here and there was so much construction that I needed some help around. The workers didn't know a single thing, and on top of that TSA there took my shaving razor handle and let me keep my razor blades. (TSA makes no sense)

Check-out procedure is a nightmare

Check-out procedure is a nightmare. We stood for more than one hour in the passport line. After having been to 70+ countries I can safely say this is the worst airport organization of them all. Worse than whatever comes your way in Africa or Asia. Horrible. It was chaos, the staff is messing around with travelers as if they were cattle to be herded. It is hard to imagine a worse welcome to the US.
