Wonderful stay in the South of France

Wonderful stay in the South of France
We are really glad to have chosen Le Collectionist (and Mas Chanteclerc) for our stay in the South of France. The villa (and services offered by Le Collectionist) were both wonderful and made our trip memorable.

The villa was great

The villa was great - lots of room and a beautiful setting. The Villa manager was extremely helpful and the meals prepared by the chef were wonderful

Anacapri is a great area and the piazza is easily reached from the Villa. The location of the Villa is a bit difficult to reach but the manager was helpful in arranging car service for us

Collectionist is a sham

Collectionist is a sham: there's nothing genuine about their offers. The villas are beautiful, but the promised service is not there, and above all they don't protect their customers: they take and give nothing in return. Avoid at all costs

Very professional

Very professional, friendly, polite and helpful. We loved our Villa les Vignes in Ramatuelle! Unfortunately their concierge service is a bit expensive - i wanted to book beauty treatments with them and the prices were very high. Other than that we were very happy.

A magical week in Provence

We loved the house. It was a beautiful house with spectacular views of the luberon region. It had spacious bedrooms and bathrooms and everything worked well.
The collectionist team was very helpful in planning our stay. They helped plan an itinerary, identify nice restaurants for memorable meals and views and they helped make reservations. Côme was great to work with. Lola was excellent in helping us identify a house and in the planning. Julie was great during our stay and was very helpful and very responsive with our day to day needs during our stay.
The whole team helped make our trip memorable and magical.

We had an amazing experience at Villa…

We had an amazing experience at Villa Catherilla in Juan de Pines. The estate was exactly to our expectations, cosy, with beautiful view and the best amenities that anyone could ask for. The staff vas helpful and professional. The concierge was ready and willing to help and quick to respond. As a minus the location of the villa is a little far from the restaurants and the beach is not within a walking distance.

Disappointing - the experience of Villa Masara was not like the photographs

I rented Villa Masara for one full week for 30,000 Euro. The pictures on the website and the description looked great. Unfortunately, the experience was not like the photos. Upon check-in, we noticed the outside of the house had not been cleaned recently. The outside table and chairs were filthy and had leaves and pine needles on the furniture. The inside of the house had numerous deficiencies:
Paint droppings - the house was recently painted on the inside but the painters did not appear to use drop cloths so paint droppings were all over the floor in most of the house.
Beds - the beds had only bottom sheets and a heavy comforter - no top sheets and only two pillows per bed. The lack of top sheets made the beds feel less clean and certainly less comfortable to sleep.
Ants - the house was infested with thousands of ants. We spent the week battling ants with Raid powder and spray. They were in every bedroom, the kitchen on the sink and on the counter on our food and on our clothes on the shelves in the closet. We had to keep all food in the refrigerators.
Towels - they started with one bath towel per person for both showering and using the pool and the ocean - no hand towels. Le Collectionist brought us some extra towels which was helpful but no what we expected for paying such a high rate.
No towel holders in any bathroom - we had to hang towels anywhere we could - it made it difficult for them to dry.
No toilet paper holders in any bathrooms
No cooking utensils for the outside grill
The kitchen was not set up for a cook. Fortunately, we hired a chef who brought many of his own cooking tools for half our meals.
No soap or shampoo provided in any bathrooms
Many rooms missing trash cans
Power - the power went out 3 times, once due to a storm and twice due to running the kitchen stove and the dryer at the same time. I learned how to rest the breaker which was on the street so I had to climb the 6-foot electric gate each time to rest the switch.
WIFI - barely usable, it mostly did not work and we had to rely on our cell phones.
I could keep going but you get the idea.... not worth the money.

This property fell far short of our expectations. I will say the Le Collectionist team worked hard to provide extra cleaning and additional products like towels, any killing products and soap. They did their best but there were so many flaws, it was just too much to ask of them.

Furthermore, I want to compliment Le Collectionist for the activities they organized for us. Each activity was excellent to include: mountain bike riding, boat rental, Canyoning, taxi service and more. They did a first class job of selecting great companies to give us good experiences. However, Villa Masara should not be on their network of properties. It falls far short of their standards and I hold them responsible for renting us such a property.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your stay at Villa Masara.

We genuinely regret that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we appreciate the time you’ve taken to bring these issues to our attention.

We acknowledge the concerns you raised regarding cleanliness and maintenance, and we understand the frustration it caused. As soon as you alerted us to these problems, our team worked diligently to address each point, offering extra cleaning, providing additional towels, and ensuring that the necessary supplies, like ant control products and soap, were brought to the villa in under 24 hours. We regret that they were not sufficient to fully meet your expectations.

It is important to note that Villa Masara is a private luxury villa, and while we strive to offer hotel-like services, some elements are subject to owner preferences. However, we recognize the high standards you expected for such a prestigious property and will communicate your concerns directly with the owner to address the issues raised, especially regarding maintenance and furnishing.

Regarding the power outages and WiFi, these can indeed be frustrating, particularly in remote locations like this one. Unfortunately, some elements, like power cuts due to storms, are beyond our control, but we appreciate your patience and adaptability in handling those situations.

We understand that your expectations were higher and we offered compensation as a gesture of goodwill. After our second proposal, however, we did not receive any further response from you. While we regret that we couldn’t reach a mutually satisfactory resolution, we believe the proposal fairly reflected the situation, especially considering the swift actions taken by our team throughout your stay.

We would like to express our gratitude for your compliments on the activities organized, and we’re thrilled that those experiences were positive highlights during your time with us. As for your comments about Villa Masara, we will review the property thoroughly to ensure it meets our standards for future guests.

Thank you again for your detailed feedback, and we hope we can welcome you back to a property that better matches your preferences in the future.

Best regards,

Never Again!

My review gets 1 star, only for the fact that the villa was beautiful. But this is a review about Le Collectionist as a company and how it is run and how it treats it clients. If I could give the company 0 stars I would. In short, they are scammers. They will hold on to part of your deposit by any means necessary. We rented Villa Souvenir, one of their "iconic" properties in Marseille. When I first enquired on the price, I received one quote. When I accepted, the response was "oh how many people are staying?". It clearly says 5 bed/5bath. I said 10 people. Then they came back with a much higher price. (25K) That should have been the first red flag. The communication with the ladies at the company was not particularly good leading up to the stay. Enough so, that when I needed an additional villa I asked if they had something else available and they didn't even respond. Thank God! I found one myself and had not one issue with it on AirBnb Luxe. Back to Villa Souvenir. A few days before we arrived I was sent a pages long document detailing all the rules and regulations of the house. It was extreme and not at all what one wants to think about on holiday. When we checked in a young man did an inspection of the house and had me sign a digital agreement as "they have had some lawsuits". I was surprised at the time, but now I know exactly why! I didn't really mind signing that as we are all in our 50's and are extremely respectful and aware of properties, so I didn't think there would be an issue. Every day a maid came for a few hours, who was less of a maid and more of an inspector with a very grumpy attitude to boot. The day before we left, the same young man came back to inspect the house. He literally took over an hour and then said to me there was a problem with the kitchen counters. Which was news to me. So he shows me these white rings on the countertop and says he needs to note that. It is impossible to say whether they were there on arrival as they had stacked all our pre arrival groceries on the same counter. (which they also got wrong) After he left, we took it upon ourselves to clean the counters and took a time stamped photo to show them looking pristine, and asked him to come back to verify. He could not, he said. A few days after we left we received a damage report with an quote of the damage. Guess what? They sent me the WRONG quote. It was for a guest who had stayed only weeks before me, and they had charged them for the countertops, grass issues, and grease stains saying it was around 3K of damage. What a coincidence! When I pointed this out and after a few flustered e-mails they responded they had simply sent the wrong quote. They sent another one with exactly the same signature and stamp and charged me more for the counters than a few weeks prior. Trying to deal with Anna, the customer relations person, will get you nowhere. It seems like a business practice for Le Collectionist to rob you of some of your deposit. I wouldn't rent thru them again if you paid me. I highly suggest you take a google image of a property you like and find it on another site. I really am not sure how they stay in business. Avoid!

Dear Helen,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We sincerely regret that you feel this way about the conclusion of your stay with us.

As previously communicated, we always strive to act in good faith as an intermediary between our property owners and guests. While occasional errors can occur, we did mistakenly send an incorrect invoice due to a similar situation with another stay. However, we promptly addressed this and provided photographic evidence, along with a second hand-signed invoice, to clarify the situation.

Regarding the time-stamped photos you provided, we respectfully note that they were taken after you cleaned the counters to show them looking pristine. However, the cleaning process, which included the use of oil on the surface, temporarily masked the stains. Once the oil dried, the marks reappeared, which is a common occurrence with natural stone surfaces like marble. This is why the initial inspection revealed the issue, and we later provided photographic evidence to support the claim.

Regarding our prices, our sales team clearly stated that the initial prices were not final in their first communication. As you began your booking process about a year prior to your rental, the prices with the owner had not yet been settled and were subject to change, which was communicated early on.

Additionally, we understand that receiving detailed house rules prior to arrival may have felt overwhelming, and we’re sorry that your interactions with our housekeeping staff did not meet your expectations. We appreciate your feedback and will make sure to address this internally to improve the experience for future guests.

Finally, in our efforts to resolve this matter amicably, we have made several gestures to demonstrate our commitment to fairness. For example, we refrained from charging for the wine that was consumed during your stay. We hoped this gesture, among others, would show our willingness to find a balanced resolution.

We regret that this situation has left you dissatisfied and remain open to further discussions.

Best regards,

Avoid at All Costs.

We had a terrible experience with Le Collectionist and found them to be disorganised, opportunistic and lazy.

We rented a villa from them and they made no effort at all to go out of their way to improve our stay. We had paid an extremely high price and expected luxury service to match. We were mistaken. An example: the owners of the villa had locked all their wardrobes so we had no hanging space for our clothes. Le Collectionist dumped an IKEA hanging rail at our doorstep and expected us to build this ourselves. When we told them that our villa didn’t have enough toilet roll, they quoted us €90 to bring some more. The house wasn’t equipped adequately for guests, with old crispy towels, no hand soap in the bathroom etc etc.

But worst of all, Le Collectionist refuses to return our deposit. They claim we left ‘damages’ at the property upon checking out (which I very much doubt as we are all careful and respectful people). They will not send us proof of these damages, and just expect us to believe we have caused thousands of Euros worth of damage to the house in which we stayed. We have asked time and time again for photographic evidence and have received nothing.

Their customer service is terrible- I have had to chase them constantly for updates regarding this. They claim to offer a bespoke and luxurious concierge service, and what we received instead was an extortionately overpriced AirBnB.

Look elsewhere!!!

Dear sir,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

We are genuinely sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations.
Ensuring that every guest enjoys a seamless and memorable experience is our top priority, and we regret that we fell short during your visit.

Our team worked to address your requests as quickly as possible during your stay, and we understand that some of the solutions may not have fully met your expectations. We will certainly review these aspects, such as the wardrobe issue and the house amenities, to ensure that such situations are prevented in the future.

Regarding the security deposit, we typically conduct a property check-out walk-through with guests to discuss any potential concerns, including damages. In this case, we were unable to do so as you departed earlier than the scheduled time without prior notice, making it challenging to have that conversation in person. However, we do take this matter seriously and are committed to resolving it fairly.

We want to clarify that we are not refusing to return your deposit, as suggested in your review. We have offered to cover part of the damages as a gesture of goodwill and are ready to return the remainder of your deposit.

Our guest relations team has reached out several times in an effort to move forward with this and facilitate the return, but unfortunately, we have not received any response. In order to proceed, we kindly ask that you provide us with your bank details so we can finalize the transfer.

Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience and will use your feedback to improve our services going forward.

Best regards,
