Having never climbed to any altitude before, nor ever been to Morocco, I wouldn’t have had a clue where to start planning a trip to climb Mt Toubkal.

That’s where Legend Expeditions comes in.

Jack and Sam organised everything: tickets, accommodation, transfers... They were available anytime for questions and to offer advice on what kit to take and training.

And the experience itself...? Utterly rewarding!!

The combination of physicality - pushing myself to my limit on summit day, blissful relaxation - gazing across the stunning Agafay desert from the swimming pool at the desert camp, and vibrant culture - the sights, sounds and scents of the medina and souks, will stay with me forever!

Even when I broke my wrist four weeks before the climb and thought I'd need to pull out, Jack, Hamid and the team offered full support and provided me with the confidence to continue and succeed in hiking to the top of the highest mountain of North Africa.

Climbing Mount Toubkal with Legend was an absolutely incredible experience - I would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a bucket list adventure.

From day one, Jack and the Legend team took care of everything - from flights to accommodation, equipment to (delicious) food.

As a beginner to this sort of thing, I was a bit apprehensive, but Jack made me feel at ease with his organisation, his encouragement, and his years of experience. Climbing Toubkal was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I’ll never forget.

Legend are different from other adventure providers - they work with the local community in the area, providing jobs in sometimes deprived areas and really looking after their local guides.

The nights we spent in Marrakesh and in the luxury Scarabeo desert camp were fantastic too - from a sunset camel ride to cool swimming pools and gourmet meals.

Legend offer a range of different trips, and I’ve already started saving for the next one!

I didn’t book a tour through Legend Expeditions but I was fortunate enough to meet Jack halfway up Mount Toubkal which I’d began to climb extremely unprepared without proper equipment or winter clothing.

When Jack heard about our situation he immediately stepped in and offered us clothing and equipment with no hesitation despite the fact it was of no benefit to him and he was trusting two total strangers to send his belongings back to him.

Jack clearly knew so much about the mountain and how to tackle it - and he was right, we would have been freezing reaching the top without his help!

I would 100% recommend booking through Legend Expeditions, not just for their expertise and knowledge, but the genuine kindness and care shown to us as strangers highlighted what great people they are.

Jack and Sam couldn’t have made the whole trip more easy. They handled all of the logistical difficulties, and we just had to do the walk. We climbed Toubkal with no issues and had Jack’s expertise and confidence with us the entire time. Any little issue or question, Jack was able to solve quickly thanks to his experience. We also got to experience places like the desert camp, which we normally never would have known about or tried. Their hand-selected team were thoughtful and extremely competent. I personally ate better on the trip than I normally would have at home. I’d love to go on another in the future!

Embarking on a journey to the summit of Kilimanjaro with Legend Expeditions was an experience of a lifetime, made seamless by their exceptional preparation and support. From the comprehensive kit list to the informative emails, the team was available to answer any questions, no matter how trivial they seemed. The Snowdonia preparation weekend was a brilliant touch, offering practical experience and the chance to get to know our leader, Jack. Personal trainer, Rhys, made sure that we kept on track with our fitness and training programme, creating a training schedule that took into account our current fitness levels, what we needed to achieve and what equipment we had available to us. The team ensured we were fully equipped and ready for the challenge ahead.

The trip itself was nothing short of extraordinary. The team's expertise shone through, providing delicious meals and taking care of all logistics, allowing us to focus solely on the trek. Their adaptability to individual needs within our small group was commendable, ensuring safety and enhancing our chances of success by choosing a longer route. When unexpected weather conditions arose, their decisive action to modify our trek meant we were one of the few groups to reach the summit, a testament to their commitment to our success - they encouraged us at each and every step!

The added comfort of private facilities, including toilets and showers, was a welcome luxury in such a rugged setting. It's these thoughtful details and the team's unwavering dedication that sets Legend Expeditions apart.

We made the decision to extend our stay, tagging on three days on safari. Once more, everything was taken care off - transport, an experienced driver / guide and staying in a lovely hotel.

Legends Expeditions are, I feel, the perfect choice for anyone looking to conquer Kilimanjaro.

I had Jack reach out to me after I posted a cry for help about finding the right person/company to help me with a unique challenge on Kilimanjaro. Even before having any commitment from me, Jack was eager to help and answer initial questions before we sat down for a meeting.

Sitting and telling him I wanted to be the first ever person to walk up and down Kilimanjaro backwards didn't faze him at all. I was instantly put at ease and his knowledge about these expeditions really shone through making me excited to tackle this amazing challenge.

From this point through to the challenge the email and whatsapp messages helped settle any nerves and answer any questions that popped up. There was an in-depth kit list and a pre trip video call to go through any final bits and to meet the team that will be there with us in Tanzania.

Arriving in Tanzania and getting collected from the airport allowed us to take in the country. We met and his team (Sam and Chris) at a cafe, this was great as it allowed a sense of normality after a long trip and some people felt quite overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of the town. Sam and Jack got to know everyone, and we headed off to the lovely accommodation that Legend had booked for us.

To sum up the climb with Legend...

It was the single most challenging and rewarding thing I've ever done.

Jack, Sam and the team were there every step of the way for everyone. I really had a sense that they wanted us to succeed and have an amazing experience while also ensuring our safety and well-being. Being in their company, (and the local porters for that matter) really gave you a sense of confidence. Even if you are at 4500m above sea level.

There was highs and lows but to experience it with Legend expeditions you'll cherish each memory forever.

I recently had the privilege of summiting Mount Kilimanjaro, and the entire experience surpassed all expectations. From the moment I landed in Tanzania to the exhilarating climb near to the top, every aspect of the journey was simply outstanding.

The local guides were the true heroes of this adventure. Their knowledge of the terrain, infectious enthusiasm, and unwavering support made the trek an absolute joy. Each step felt like a guided revelation, with their anecdotes and insights adding layers of depth to the already breathtaking scenery. It was evident that they not only knew the mountain intimately but also had a genuine passion for sharing its wonders.

What truly set this experience apart was the exceptional level of safety and measures provided by the Legend. Legends commitment to our well-being instilled confidence and allowed us to focus entirely on the awe-inspiring journey ahead.

I cannot emphasize enough how safe and secure I felt throughout the entire expedition. The team's professionalism and dedication to ensuring our comfort and safety were unparalleled. It's rare to find a travel experience that combines thrilling adventure with such a strong sense of security, but this trip to Mount Kilimanjaro did just that.

In conclusion, if you're contemplating a climb up Kilimanjaro, look no further. This adventure was not only physically challenging but also spiritually rewarding. I only have high praise for Jack and the team at Legend Expeditions. I recently completed a Kilimanjaro climb with Jack and I would say that he went above and beyond for everything, from our first conversation, when he told us what to expect and talked us through the pros and cons of the different routes, to the pre-climb fitness and equipment preparation and the climb itself. Definitely a 5-star experience with top-notch banter along the way!

We embarked on our climb on the 18th Feb 2024, choosing the 8-day Lemosho Route to give us our best chance of avoiding altitude sickness. Before that, we opted to do a warm-up weekend in Snowdonia, which I would highly recommend as it gave us the chance to test out our kit and get to know each other before the big trip. We also worked alongside Rhys, the Legend fitness coach in the three months prior to the climb to make sure we were fit and ready to reach the top. Again, I would highly recommend this as it really helped me and my friend (both of us in our mid 40s) a lot - I definitely left with an inner confidence that I might not have had before, feeling assured that, if I didn't manage to reach the top, it certainly wasn't going to be because I wasn't fit enough.

When it came to the trip itself, the only thing we needed to worry about was booking our flights and Legend sorted everything else out for us. They have a great knowledge of Moshi and the surrounding area, making sure that our pre- and post-climb accommodation suited our needs perfectly. Jack has a unique ability to make friends with everyone, literally everywhere he goes and, as a result, he has built up a brilliant team of Tanzanians to ensure you have the best experience, both on and off the mountain.

Our local climb team were simply AMAZING and I can't thank them enough for how well they looked after us on the mountain, lugging our kit everywhere and always getting a great spot in the next camp, serving us unbelievably good food despite having to cook in a tent and even waking us up each morning with a coffee! I think the main thing though was how kind and friendly they were, genuinely seeming to care about us and rooting for us to get to the top.

And get to the top we did I am chuffed to say, despite some rather extreme weather thrown at us towards the end, which leads me to my final point of this rather long-winded review; I genuinely don't think we would have made it to the top in the conditions if we had been with anyone else other than Legend. A combination of the local team's many years' experience of tackling Kili, and Jack's in-depth understanding of our team and our capabilities, meant that we took an unusual decision to tackle the summit a day early after already trekking to Barafu Camp that morning. In a nutshell, the wind had got up the night before and appeared to be getting worse and it was decided that, despite tired-ish legs, it would be safer for us to make a summit attempt in the daylight and descend in the dark, rather than wait until the next day. Only one other team made the same decision and it turned out to be the right thing to do because, as far as I am aware, no other team managed to reach the summit the following day as the wind gusts and low temperatures made it impossible. So a further massive thank you to the Legend Team for being flexible in their approach to the trip and taking a brave decision when nearly everyone else was sticking to Plan A.

Definitely consider Legend Expeditions for your Kilimanjaro climb, or any other adventure - you won't regret it!

I Would highly recommend legend expeditions. Sam and jack were absolutely amazing thought out climbing Kilimanjaro.
The trip was so well organised and the team was Very professional throughout and made sure every member in our group felt part of the team.

For many years, I wanted to climb Kilimanjaro but would always talk myself out of it; I simply didn’t feel physically fit enough. Having health issues didn’t help matters and I thought having a bad knee, lower back pain and being overweight meant climbing Kilimanjaro would just be a dream of mine.

Last year, I spoke to the Legend team in passing about my dream to one day climb Kilimanjaro. To my surprise they didn’t tell me I needed to fix my health problems before even thinking of taking on Kilimanjaro but rather they came back with a plan to ensure my dream came true. I worked with coach Rhys from the legend team and he focused on my nutrition and fitness plan; I learnt so much! We had 3 months to get my body as ready as possible and each step of the way the team made me feel like I could achieve this successfully and in time I started to believe it too.

During the climb, try as I might, I was always at the back and couldn’t really keep up with my team. Although they encouraged me to keep up, Jack and Sam never rushed me or made me feel bad for climbing slower instead they were patient and answered my many ‘how long would you survive on a deserted island?’ questions. They often reminded me that the goal was to summit and not how quickly I could climb. There was not a day of the climb that I climbed without either Jack or Sam by my side; I am so thankful for this.

The most challenging part of the climb was summit day, it took me 12 hours to get to uhuru. I threw up and cried my way up and the legend team never left my side. Jack climbed all 12 hours and never complained about how slowly I was climbing or how dramatically I was ugly crying. I truly believe Jack and Sam would have carried me to the top if it had come to that (thank God it didn’t because how dramatic would that have been!). I could not have made it without the legend team and it still feels so surreal that me, whilst existing in this body, climbed Kilimanjaro! (I have a picture at summit to prove it).

Despite how physically challenging climbing Kilimanjaro was, I found this expedition strangely relaxing. I had zero concerns. I didn’t need to plan or think about anything, everything was taken care of by the legend team. I simply woke up and showed up each day.

I had many concerns prior to and during the climb but Sam and Jack were always available to answer any queries that I might have. For example, The legend team rang me a couple of months before the trip to inform me that I would be the only female in my group and they wanted to check if there are any measures they should put in place to ensure that I felt safe during the climb. I really appreciated this attention to detail and even though I couldn’t think of anything at the time, during the trip I noticed that measures had been put in place. For example, my tent was near the Legend leaders’ tent and the toilet so I didn’t have far to walk at night.

The legend team have a way of making you feel like you are enough and anything is possible, just come as you are. Although the focus was on the end goal i.e summiting, I am still buzzing from all the things I learned during and before the trip. For example, we received emails prior to the trip that included the kit list and also had meetings with the legend team about the kit list and the trip. I learned so much from these because I had never been camping before and come from a hot climate so didn’t know about base layers etc.
The confidence that I gained from achieving my goal of climbing Kilimanjaro has had a ripple effect. Because of this I am now training for a half marathon!

Legend Expeditions, thank you will never be enough but thank you nonetheless.

I was amazed to learn this business is relatively new, given Jack and Sam were very organised and highly knowledgeable. We had two video calls in advance of the trip - the information provided was clear and easy to understand, with a packing list and several informative emails sent prior to departure. The team were also swift in responding to any questions.

During the expedition itself, I was in safe hands and felt secure at all times, with both guides offering regular guidance and encouragement as necessary.

In addition to the fundamentals of safety and welfare, Jack and Sam went above and beyond the call of duty to not only deliver a service, but create an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime experience; the relationship between the Legend Expeditions team and the local guides looked well established despite it being their first venture working together!

Having recently completed reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, the legend team were on hand throughout the process to ensure I was ready and fully supported during the expedition.

It was always on my bucket list to complete this climb but having a limited experience of even basic hiking the team were on hand at each step to ensure I was as prepared as possible.
From providing training and support, kit lists and regular contact, my confidence grew as we got closer to the leave date.

Incredible 2 day trip with Legend Adventures - swapping out sweaty London tubes for rock climbing, abseiling, orienteering & hiking through the sunny Peak District.

Jack & Sam got to know everyone quickly and managed to strike the perfect balance of encouraging each person to test their individual limits. Despite clearly having a wealth of 'extreme' adventure experience behind them, they still made everyone's accomplishments feel impressive and something to be proud of.

They took the time at each stage of our trip to explain not just what we were doing, but also why. This was key in helping us all pick up the skills quickly, and these will stick with me for future trips!

On top of all this, they're two very down to earth guys and a joy to be around. I'd recommend Legend Expeditions to anyone wanting to try something new in a supportive, fun, challenging, and most importantly safe environment. Joined Jack and Sam at Legend Expeditions for a weekend of rock climbing and hiking in the Peak District. These guys seriously know what they’re doing. I’m not the best with heights and didn’t think there was a chance I’d climb to the top of the rock face. But Jack and Sam guide you the whole way, making you feel completely safe and teaching you in detail how it all works. I couldn’t believe how confident I was climbing by the end - I even did a proper abseil too!

On day 2 we hiked a route which used a-lot of the skills we’d gained on day 1, scrambling up rock faces and across challenging but very fun terrain. Again the guys were amazing in teaching us to map read and navigate for ourselves, and taking us through some breathtaking scenery on the way.

Couldn’t recommend these guys more - true professionals who are passionate and excellent at what they do!

Joined Legend Expeditions (Jack & Sam) for a weekend in the Peak District. I have no experience in climbing whatsoever only a lot of love for nature. We learned so much this weekend. Incredible ! First day we familiarised ourselves with the equipment and started climbing.
Soon we were all rock climbing with excitement.
I felt safe at all times. Next day we learned how to card read and climbed and walked through a stunning part of the Peaks. Accommodation & food and evening program was perfect. Jack's excitement for adventure is so contagious. We can't wait for our next trip with Legends Expeditions.
