Very poor customer service.
I travelled 70 miles from my home to Tunbridge Wells branch for my appointment. I was late by 8 minutes, due to traffic and parking etc, but still they didn’t take me for my eye tests. There was another customer talking to receptionist and as a result they felt I was late, but actually I was late by only 5 minutes and still they didn’t take me for my appointment.
Very poor service and no compassionate care towards human being. Very rigid for their service and no consideration for human being.
They have not mentioned in their paper work anywhere about this. Poor communication.
I am myself a consultant and I never deal with this any patient the way they handled me today. I believe in “compassionate patient first care” and believe in holistic care and not a rigid system. No words for this poor care.
I suspect this will not have any impact on them as they are a chain and not an individual private care.

Service and staff doing the tests were great. Absolute rip off pricing.
Came in for an eye test and replacements for scratched lenses. (keeping the frame)
They tried to charge me £66 PER LENSE plus £40 extra for anti glare and 50 for scrtch resistance etc etc.. quoted me £266 to just put new lenses in my glasses..
I went to glassesdirect and bought some Tom fords for £270 with all the extras... I have ordered a lense replacement for my old glasses using lenseology for £27 which is 10x cheaper....
The guy doing the sales pitch also told me some complete rubbish that static in a cloth damages (scratches) lenses.. which is complete tosh... Does he really think free electrons are going to create molecule sized scratches? Static is only bad as it attracts dust...
I only leave this review as normally paying a premium for face to face service is expected, and fine... but charging an order of magnitude above what you can pay an uk online website? When older less digitally savvy customers will be their key target audience? It's bordering on immoral.

The quality is the same. In fact, as I was quoted almost the same price for two lenses made of pieces of plastic with some coatings, compared to the same lenses but with added Scratch resistant hard coating, Anti-reflective coating, Hydrophobic Coating, housed in designer Tom Ford Frames.. I would say the "quality" would be in the Tom Ford designer frames with the same quality of lenses with more coatings... don't you think?
Your prices are disgusting, especially as those who don't use online shopping tend to be older and vulnerable..

Having had a cataract Op in November I was cleared to order some reading glasses in January (6th)
I was recommended to use Leightons in Tunbridge Wells by family friends.
Leightons did a thorough examination I have to say, but buying the glasses there not so. Ordering flexi frames and lenses came to a hefty £331 which I thought pretty expensive, and I was told would take at least a week----which I thought was quite a long time these days,,but hey ho. I understood from the receptionist that they would contact me by phone,text or email once the glasses were ready. By 28th January I'd heard nothing, and as I needed to go into Tunbridge Wells for other matters I visited the shop and asked " what's the situation with my glasses.I've heard nothing since ordering" The receptionist went to the back of the shop, produced a pouch with my frames and paperwork and said they hadn't been ordered for some reason!!!!! Asking 'why' the excuse/reason was " I think we had a computer glitch the day you came in"
I think this is a very poor excuse with my frames obviously sitting un-noticed close to (storage) near the receptionists desk. Consequently, I asked for my £331 to be refunded to my credit card. I was also very dismayed to be hustled to the (now) opened front door of the shop by a more senior female member of staff who obviously was keen to get rid of me!! Whilst I was annoyed and disappointed at not getting my glasses, I did not use bad or aggressive language during my visit, being invited to leave the shop by an assistant with no apologies is the height of bad manners and poor salesmanship. I would not wish to visit Leightons again and am very fed up with their attitude an poor service.

The lady who checked and then by microsuction and flushing cleared my ears perfectly and without any discomfort is a an ambassador for your company.
It might have been slightly more expensive than some of the other companies on the high street,but, I think that you get what you pay for.

Had a recent eye health scare (vision deteriorated within a matter of days) and visited the optician to get them checked, thinking my prescription had simply changed. Optician (Mary) instantly picked up on the issue and I had a very fast referral to a specialist ophthalmologist, followed on by a referral to a specialist eye clinic. The speed in which the matter was dealt with was remarkable and if it wasn't due to the quickness of the team at Leightons, I could have risked long term damage (possibly permanent) to my eyesight. They are one of the best opticians I've used and I am extremely grateful for their care in making sure my eyes are at their very best. Thanks to all involved.
