Simply astounding how ad-free websites are still out there with the aim not to earn money, but to provide the best chess experience. Lichess lives of donations, which are all spent on its servers, supplying it's users with absolutely free and ad-free chess. Not only can one play games, people can compete in tournaments, use an engine to look at an analysis board, get a rating, import games, analyze games, make and read studies, and do puzzles and other games to improve his chess.

after i report to the site ABOUT SOME cheaters ths is the answer that i received... this guys of lichess are ridicolous amusing:

Ok at first until you realize that the entire site is a scam in the sense that the time on the clocks is different for every player. So some players are faster, but most are slower. Also the rules of conduct are arbitrary like on Facebook and it’s rife with cheaters.

Great open-source chess platform. Extremely easy to set up an account and track your progress in different types of game setups. I almost want to say it's "too easy" and therefore quite addictive!

There is no paid version so the training features are limited but the engine is very strong and the puzzles training feature is excellent.

The best chess app, with lots of free tools to learn and play. I think it's the best chess app, at least nowadays.

Much better than chess.com. Free stuff for all, no ads and a lot of GMs and FMs playing here.

Full of cheaters and lichess bans for no reason at all asking all the time for donations and doing nothing I even donated 10 dollar. Bunch of dumb ass devs running the website better use chess.com much better website with fair rules.

Beware--zero support = abuse+cheating.

So lichess is a chess platform..which offers easy to play "free" 1 button to play chess matches...and allows you to watch other players/top players. All seems good and your probably even tempted by the numerous "reminders" to donate to lichess while playing.

However then you find yourself in need of an actual support...eg email or such...and you realize that there is zero support on the website. just a faq in the contact us part and an option to "report users for cheating". there is no way to actually discuss or get help with any issue.

This enables for abuse by discord "moderators" who can ban you from site or limit you for no reason...with no accountability. The motto from moderators from lichess is "dont like it ...then go on a different site"

So yes i did do that
This is why i stick with chess.com and other more reputable sites...as you can actually get hold off people if a situation ever arises and they have actual contactable support.

Lichess.org pushes for donation while providing zero email or customer support.

Lichess is 100 times better than parasites from chess.com ,,, u pay them next day agresive staff with very low knowledge of chess and life they banned u and robbed u .. i hate all chess.com staff aggresive with no names no last names and trolls fhotos , bots gnoms parasites

Simply dont play on this site. I played some games. In 4-5 cases when I lostvthe game, the opponent sent abusive mesaages like "go lick dog" , motherf@@ker, ass@hole and what not. These players threw messages even after I got beat which shows level of arrogance of people playing at this site. Players here dont play to enjoy but to humilate others by beating and then abusing.

However lichess does not even do anything about such players. They are not banned and not even warned. Even there is no option to disable chat. This site only attracts low lives and pathetic people who have nothing to be proud about except winning the game.

Love this site. Very fast, unranked and ranked play, and free lessons. Used them a lot when I was active in chess.

Absolutely disgusted that my 15 year old son had his account banned for “cheating” but lichess wouldn’t even say what he’s actually accused of. He is a 15 year old county level player who has won local tournaments and qualified for regional finals but, after playing well in an online tournament his account was marked as banned for violating lichess rules. No information was given to say why. We used the lichess “appeals” process to deny any cheating and ask what the accusation was but the reply was simply “we say he’s banned and you can’t ask us again”. How is this any way to run a chess website and to treat youngsters? And as a result of this, he can no longer play in county tournaments, his club tournaments or the regional finals he just qualified for and that we have paid for. Absolutely disgusting. I can only hope that this hasn’t killed his interest in chess and that we can move back to live tournaments soon and this site becomes irrelevant.

One of the worst sites where there is no consequences for bad behavior or cheating. There is absolutely no service and if there is any, they dont care. There are so many players with bad behavior that should get some kind of ban, but nothing is done. They have a system so you can report others, but nothing ever happens.

And they have a bad connection and when you point it out, they just blame you. My connection is really fast and reliable and I monitor it all the time and even then they blame me. Such a weak service. They should just admit fault and compensate.

Lichess is the best chess website ever

Lichess sent me a very sleazy automated message claiming I falsely accused someone of cheating. Even though that person had their account closed in the same day. But apparently me trying to help others by reporting their games is a violation. Lovely moral to teach people. For this reason I rate you zero if I could.

i like this website, as much as i like chess.com, chesskid.com and even nitrotype.com. I consider these four my favorite websites.

Lichess is the #1 site ever. They are seriously underrated. They give you everything for free, and if at all they ask for money, they do it very kindly, and not harassing you. They have 100% respect of your privacy. Their customer service replies within 48 hours. Even if you get banned, it isn't 100% banned. Eg: If you get banned for cheating, you can still chat and getting chatbanned, you can still play
They also included everything about appeals

lichess is as horrible as chess.com. both sites are a magnet for cheaters, and both sites dont care about it.

This is the best chess site for ever.
It is really better than others, because all is free, no restrictions, and if you're great of lichess, you can be a patron! I love this site so much :)
