Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 60 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers frequently expressed deep frustration regarding completely unresponsive customer support channels, missing assistance at airport desks, and significant, unexpected flight delays. Travelers also pointed out sudden, highly inconvenient schedule changes alongside frustratingly difficult, lengthy refund procedures that frequently left paying passengers stranded. Some reviewers were happy with the remarkably affordable ticket prices, clean aircraft cabins, and surprisingly smooth, trouble-free journeys experienced on specific regional routes. These individuals genuinely appreciated the polite staff members on board and felt the overall travel service closely matched typical low-cost carrier standards elsewhere.

Policy sucks.

They don’t have the same policy for travelling with bags. I travel with bags and gift at the same amount but the way back they do not allowed.

The company sucks

The company sucks. They did a 20% discount on the 10-11 of September 2025 after raising the prices. For the flight I checked, the price increased by more that 1000 INR, while the discount is about 800 INR.
Also, it is common when booking a ticket on their website, that you see one price and after choosing it, you get an increase in the price due to some silly excuse.
Why not show the final up to date price if not to fool the customer?
Due to these dishonest and crooked practices, skip this company as much as you possibly can.

Refund Stuck Since May – No Transparency from Airline/Agent

I requested a refund for my canceled Thai Lion Air flight (PNR QZUNOU),eTicket No- 3102155884152/3102155884151 and order no#3483661816781 via Vakatrip on 25th May. The airline’s policy promises refunds within 60 days. It has now been over 3 months, and neither Thai Lion Air nor Vakatrip has given me any ETA. Their responses are vague, and I still haven’t received my money back. This experience shows a lack of accountability and transparency—something travelers should be cautious about before booking.

Denied boarding with false visa excuse

Feels like beating a dead horse looking at previous reviews , but here is my contribution to this disaster of an air company...yesterday I was denied boarding my Bangkok-Baku flight via Mombai with the excuse I had no transit visa for India , in spite of the fact I had no checked baggage and therefore no need to exit the transit area.
But the best part is that I have actually been lucky in being denied boarding , as the flight departed and arrived two hours late , and I would have for sure missed my next flight to Baku as it was "only" 3 hours later scheduled arrival time.
So I guess I should thank them for saving me from getting stranded in Mumbai.
Don't even think to fly with this joke of a carrier , ever.

Couldn't even make a booking regardless…

Couldn't even make a booking regardless of pricing tier as I had forgotten no notify bank of going to thailand.

Booking was stuck awaiting payment and I had to pay more for a flight via a 3rd party service as prices had gone up in meantime.. and the payment process is now stuck on agoda

At least cancel the damn booking after 30 minutes. Its been 90 minutes.

Worst company I have ever flown with

Worst company I have ever flown with. You can’t bring any drinks or food on board, the staff are rude, and on my first flight with them, they made us stay inside the shuttle to get to the airplane, only to return to the gate because of an issue with the plane, then take the shuttle again to board another aircraft.

This airlines cancelled the flight and…

This airlines cancelled the flight and rescheduled it to 3 day later and they say they have sent an email and it's a connecting flight of which I have traveled half way, I am stuck in the middle of journey without having an idea of what to do, and all the airlines respond is by offering a feedback form
They don't talk anything like providing acco or helping out to check with other airlines
These irresponsible airlines should be penalized heavily so that they learn to behave, not take customers for granted
I also strongly recommend people to avoid this airlines and also spread the word so people should not suffer

Very disappointed

Very disappointed. They changed my pre booked flight by 4 and a half hour (earlier) then i was slightly overweight with luggage as a result and had to pay 4 times the normal rate. Why are they only allowing 10kg as checked in luggage. Very poor.

Terrible airline, Constant re-scheduling, flight cancellations

Bought a return trip Udon Thani-Bankok (10-6 .. 11-6), directly at the ticket office, 4 days in advance.
The agent recommended returning on the, more expensive early evening flight, apparently this was the only one available for us.

Only 10hrs after purchase, a message was received : "your return flight is cancelled, you are transferred to the end of the morning flight

This is the 3 rd time exactly the same happened to us at this company

No phone contact with Lion air possible, so customer service isn't available

We had to go to the Udon ticket office again, where we had to delay the return flight by one day, because of scheduled day activities on 11th in Bangkok
Of course no compensation for the extra night we had to stay at a hotel
Complete cancellation was possible, but we would have to wait 45 days !! for OUR money !!

Then on check in at Bangkok for the return, there was even again a big problem at check in, apparently because the re-scheduling was not done correctly in Udon.
Just the simple check-in took 45 min, from check-in counter to customer service and back to check-in counter.
Agents at the check-in had no clue on what had been going on with our ticket, despite the shown details on paper received at the ticket office in Udon

Just again a terrible experience with Lion Air, we will NEVER again use this airline

Dreadful

Another airline that is satisfactory when everything goes well, but is dreadful in supporting passengers when things go wrong. I had a terrible time getting help to rebook a return flight when the original was cancelled. I was stranded for 2 days - zero customer support and no compensation for additional costs

The most terrible support I've ever faced with

Despite my love for Thailand and Thai people, this company is just terrible. Here’s what happened: two days before my flight, they informed me that it was being moved about 6-7 hours earlier (apparently, they hadn’t sold enough tickets). Well, I understand that such things can happen. Given my plans, I had no way to change the departure time, so I immediately sent an email to cancel and request a refund. Obviously, this wasn’t convenient for me either — I had to buy another ticket, which would certainly be more expensive at the last minute, but that’s not the biggest issue.

For the first two days, I tried to arrange the refund, but their support wasn’t responding through any channels, and I was on hold for 20 minutes on the phone. They promised a refund in 45 days. In reality, after around 48 days, I got an email saying the refund was being processed. Another month passed. Support was still nearly impossible to reach, and they provided no useful information. Eventually, I contacted my bank and initiated a dispute. I will never use this company again, and I don’t recommend it to anyone.

I flew on Thai Lion Air quite…

I flew on Thai Lion Air quite frequently and had some hiccups but its understandable. Yes, it is a budget airline and I cannot ask for perfect service but this time round the service I received is way too much. I went to BKK for a short get away and I agree that it was my fault. I booked the airticket under the wrong name for my friend (she recently added a English name). SG airport check in counter staff used a pen to change the name on the boarding ticket and gave me a contact and asked me to call Thai Lion Air to inform the change of name so that my friend will not be stuck at BKK. We called/ WhatsApped/ emailed but there was no response from Thai Lion Air - BAD SERVICE. I apologize to the front counter staff at DMK airport when I landed at 2pm and checked with Thai Lion Air staff. The counter staff took my friend’s deedpoll, old and new passport copy, old and new IC copy via airdrop. We went back and forth until 4:30pm, the counter staff told me she cannot do anything and had to wait for her supervisor to advise further. Somehow the supervisor told the staff at 5plus pm and the staff came to us to ask us to leave first and come back on the day that we are leaving to change the name. Obviously we were skeptical about it and we asked if we had to buy another ticket but they reassured us ‘NO NEED’. Apparently, they reassured us that “they have input our details” and gotten my friend’s deedpoll in their system. The check in counter will let my friend fly on the day of our departure. I ask if we needed to buy a new ticket now. “Dont worry, just come in 3 hrs early to check in”, she say. Being a frequent flyer on Thai Lion Air, I gave them a benefit of doubt, which I DEEPLY REGRETTED for the rest of my life. Never trust the words of Thai Lion Air. Never trust the number they give nor the email. They don't return the call or the email.

On the day of departure, we came 3 hrs to check in. We were not allowed to check-in. The check in counter direct us to another counter saying that the supervisor had spoken to the counter to allow my friend to change her name. We went to the counter. The counter people were clueless. Attitude were bad. Wrote on a piece of paper - $15k++ Thai Bhat for a flight ticket and say we have to purchase another flight ticket if my friends wants to fly back to SG. She even said “there is 8 seats left for the 5pm flight to SG”. Instructions from supervisor. lol. I went to the check in counter and ask to speak to the supervisor. Check in counter say “supervisor is busy, she say your friend have to buy the ticket if your friend want to fly”. I was bounced around from counter to counter and i never get to meet the supervisor AT ALL!

My friend ended up buying another ticket. We were shocked when we checked against the seat number between the old and the new boarding ticket - it was the same seat number! Logically, she is entitled to 2 seats since she paid for 2 flight tickets right? And the first ticket is not refundable. She went to ask the counter staff. The staff gave a ridiculous reason - cause the ticket is for the same person, hence she can only have a seat. EXCUSE ME?! For the love of my ancestor!!!!!!!!!!!! CAN YOU FIND A BETTER REASON?! We bought 2 seats. We asked for the name of the supervisor and was rejected. “Sorry, we cannot give you.” we ask for the name of the staff working on Friday - “sorry, we don't know”.

THAI LION AIR, you got to train your supervisor not to hide behind and bring him/her to come out and speak to customer(s). Sorry, I forgot you don't care about customers. Thai lion Air just care about making money out of people.

Delays delays delays

Delays delays delays.
I almost lost a connecting flight after they rescheduled their flight for the third time.
Luckily I discovered it in advance and I asked at the counter to change my flight.
The lady at the counter replied it was possible if I caught the previous flight happening 'NOW'. When is now ? So unprofessional.
So I rushed to the check in to get my luggage on board, passed the security checks and... even this flight was delayed by 1 hour !
They don't five announcements nor reply to emails.
Impossible to call them from abroad.
Very poor command of English.

On a positive note, the steward was very king handing me some water to get a medicine.

Disorganization

They changed the flight schedule three times in two months (one of which from morning to evening), terrible check-in service, flight delay (small but present), change of departure gate half an hour before departure itself. If you can, avoid it.

Lion Air devours your time: Treats Customers like Prey

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Thai Lion Air. My flight from Krabi to Bangkok is currently delayed by two hours with no clear explanation or communication from the airline. It’s incredibly frustrating to be left in the dark with no updates on when we’ll actually depart. On top of this, I’ve come to realize that getting a refund will likely be a nearly impossible task, which is simply unacceptable. The airline offers zero support to its passengers, leaving us completely vulnerable to these kinds of disruptions. It’s evident that Thai Lion Air cares very little about the consumer experience or offering any protection to passengers. As a customer, I feel completely helpless and at the mercy of their disorganization and poor service. Avoid this airline at all costs if you value your time and money.
