I tried tutoring on LiveXP

I tried tutoring on LiveXP. Total waste of time. All I ever saw was the same English tutor profiles on searches. I tried the instant booking feature a few times but was unsuccessful. Also Its all about the money as even if you are an experienced tutor you have to work for a ridiculously low rate. Furthermore , if you are not active on the platform, you will receive a notification telling you that your profile is hidden from students. I suppose they believe that this will motivate desperate tutors to waste precious time on this platform. So much for flexible working hours..... After the second such notification I just deleted my account.

The system of rates for tutors is indeed fixed. At the same time, the more lessons a tutor conducts successfully, the more they will earn.

A tutor's profile can get hidden if they haven't checked on the platform for some time. This prevents students from booking lessons with tutors who are inactive. We must ensure that our students never feel like wasting time.

Working with LiveXP is a mistake!

Working with this platform really sucks! The support team aren’t helpful at all and they always come to the teachers with false accusations and the tutors can’t give reviews after speaking to the support.
The payment of any lesson isn’t released even if the teacher is present. Added to that, the price of the lesson isn’t determined by the tutor but by the platform. It was a very bad experience working with LiveXP.

I started teaching on this platform…

I started teaching on this platform only recently and now have regular students, there is some effort in things changing availability each week and keep abreast of upcoming lessons. I enjoy the random lessons as you don’t know what to expect and the online staff are very supportive especially with payment problems. I enjoy working for them and I am a qualified teacher and always aim to do the best to tailor the students language needs.

It's a waste of time and money....this…

It's a waste of time and money....this platfform is NOT relieable, the teachers are not commited and for some reason when you scheadule a class, apparently the teacher doesn't get any kind of notification!! Use Italki instead....it's way better!!!

Unfortunately, sometimes it may happen that tutors cannot participate in the lesson; however, we can ensure you that all tutors do get notified about the lesson booked with them, and moreover, tutors, as well as students, receive the reminders 1 hour before, and 10 min before the lesson start.

The good news is that LiveXP provides a 100% return guarantee for all failed lessons. If the lesson was not conducted due to the tutor's absence, you can always either reschedule the lesson or receive your money back.

Please be informed that the refund requests for the failed lessons have been submitted, and you will soon receive the money back.

I found livexp just when scrolling Play Market

Usually, it's more expensive to learn Japanese than English (for example). I like anime and Japanese culture. That's why I wanted to learn more. I tried duolingo, but it helped me no more than watching anime. I found livexp just when scrolling Play Market. I checked the app and was surprised that if I buy a subscription, I can learn any language with any tutor. My monthly subscription will end soon, and I want to buy a quarterly one.

There are classes where tutor did not…

There are classes where tutor did not came and It was impossible to recover those hours and additionaly, when you take the amount of classes included in your balance, there is not posibility to buy more hours. It is not good for a regular program.

It seems that they wait that you buy classes and dont take it to win that money.

Not good experience.

We had checked your account and can see that all four classes when your tutor did not come were credited back to your balance, and currently, you have no failed lessons in the system. You are free to use these lessons now again and schedule them with any tutor on the platform.

The new subscription system LiveXP has recently introduced is flexible on this. You can easily return unsuccessful lessons to your balance. All you need to do is contact our Support Team; they will gladly assist you!

As for the ability to buy more lessons under the active subscription, we have a piece of great news for you and the other students striving to learn more intensive - "Balance refill" and "Subscription Upgrade" features are at your disposal.

Once your last lesson is completed, a new "Refill balance" button appears in your profile (next to the subscription balance). It allows you to refill your balance for the same amount of the lessons you purchased before.

"Subscription Upgrade" can be used if you decide to change the lessons' frequency and duration.

I'm studying two languages at LiveXP

I'm studying two languages at LiveXP: Spanish and German. It was quite expensive, you know. And recently, the platform has switched to a subscription model. And now, if I buy a subscription, I can learn any language from any tutor. The same price for any language. It's cool, you know!!!!!

XP Live Avoid this platform!!

Avoid this platform. They have just introduced a new subscription system which means that rates of pay for teachers are now very low - in my case, halving my pay rate. Experienced teachers will leave and only beginners and amateurs will remain. Whether you are thinking of teaching or learning on XP - DON'T
UPDATE In Response To Reply Below. Dear XP Live employee, I call unadulterated rubbish. Yes, the amount you pay tutors can be higher very, very slightly higher, still far lower than I was earning or can earn elsewhere. That increase only applies if the tutor manages to obtain enough students to teach over 200 hours in a short, given period. As you do not guarantee students, reaching that number is going to be impossible without being available for at least 80 hours per week, so slave wages and horrendous working hours, nice! This legendary "increased amount", after fees and transfers, is still BELOW MINIMUM WAGE! Even without fees and transfers it is appalling and no professional teacher living in a developed country could possibly make a livable income on it. Even if you do reach the dizzy heights of 200 hours, your increased payment is not permanent, you have to keep on doing 200 over a certain period or your payment drops again, so for God's sake don't expect a day off, and certainly don't get sick! Why would any experienced, qualified, committed teacher stay with you when they can earn a living wage, and be treated with respect as a valued member of the team, on other platforms? Your students are not getting good, qualified teachers, that's 100% certain. Your patronising comment that changes are "emotional" is incredibly offensive! You are speaking to an intelligent, well-informed adult, not a 4-year-old throwing a hissy fit. I am not having a knee-jerk reaction to a petty "change", I am angry as hell about you treating your teachers like garbage. One of your colleagues asked, before I left, that I stay and "see how the system works out." What was I supposed to wait to see? How low I could get my grocery bill? How long without payment before my electricity is cut off? How long before the mortgage company repossesses the house? (Incidently, I made very sure that I withdrew my earnings before I informed you I was leaving, as there are several reviews out there from tutors who didn't receive their money - or are they all being "emotional" too?The fact is you are not paying a living wage, therefore you cannot attract professional teachers - fact. There are some platforms that do not pay well, but offer guaranteed hours. You offer slave wages and no guarantee of work. How the hell can anyone live on that? Why would any qualified, committed teachers work with you when they have plenty of options out there? You know what I'm saying is absolutely true. You can dress this up however you want, but you're ripping off your teachers, offering your students a rubbish service, and all to line the pockets of the owners. How much are they paying you to type this rubbish and spread their lies for them? Is it more than the $10 an hour before costs you expect your professional, qualified, experienced teachers to work for? Not a lot more, I'll bet. Get a conscience and some self-respect, stop lying on behalf of unprincipled, greedy owners and get a decent job - I would recommend on-line tutoring with Italki, Preply, Classgap, Verbal Planet, or any of the other many platforms out there that offer a good, fair and ethical service to both students and teachers.

LiveXP has indeed recently introduced a new subscriptions model and we understand that major changes can be emotional, however, we are optimistic about the future of the new model as we believe it will benefit all and will help us grow as a team to provide even better services for both our students and tutors.
The new subscription model offers a lot of flexibility to the students, they are no longer attached to a specific tutor on the platform or a language they learn, they can change their tutor whenever they feel like it, there is less bureaucracy with lesson cancellation and many more.
As for the tutors, the rates have indeed been revised according to the new subscription model. Under this model, each tutor now has a level, which depends on their XP. It has been calculated based on your previous performance on LiveXP. So those tutors who have been active on the platform and had a significant number of completed lessons on the platform are satisfied with their current rate. We would also like to point out that our top tutors stayed on the platform and are working together with us on improving it. It has been only a month since the new subscription model has been introduced and we have already made several important updates and changes based on the feedback from our tutors and students.
We are very much interested in our users being able to teach, learn and enjoy these processes. This is what LiveXP is about. We are eager to receive feedback and suggestions to improve the platform together and our Support team is there 7 days a week to do it! We encourage tutors to at least try the new model out before making the final judgment.

Excellent service

I've been using LiveXP for learning Spanish for 6 months. I can say that the platform provides excellent service. When trying my first tutor, he missed a lesson and didn't want to reschedule it. So, LiveXP has a great support team. They refunded me that lesson quite quickly. I found another good tutor and had a great experience. I learn Spanish with her for 6 months and will continue doing it at LiveXP. Also, they have really cool blog. Recommend using it!

Tutor doesn't get paid+ no assistance

Tutor doesn't get paid, after lessons some students decide to tell the assistant like the teacher didn't did the lesson, teachers doesn't have any protection here, if someone says something you can't deny only students are right.
This is the 3rd time I don't get paid, after working hours in a lesson.
Also students can't refund lessons like other apps like italki.
I had also experienced many times men writing me only because they liked my profile and wanted my number, this app is the worst app for both students and teachers!!

The tutors' profiles get hidden only after one week of total inactivity on the platform or if any unread messages hang for more than 24 hours.

The lessons are always refunded if they comply with our Lesson Refund policy. If some issue happens and the refund is not possible, our team helps sort it out.

The earnings withheld happened due to the LiveXP Terms of Use breaches. Whenever tutors decide to stop their cooperation, they must ensure that all booked lessons have been conducted.
In case of non-compliance with the above requirement, LiveXP reserves the right to withhold any amount.

Simple but smart language learning platform

I haven't heard about this educational platform before (it's a relatively new one). But I decided to give it a shot anyway, had a trial English lesson with Senka, and didn't regret it a single bit. Very professional tutor, funny conversation, and a convenient platform. Will use it consistently from now on.
