No air condition
Our car (Fiat Panda) did not have an automatic air condition! Together with the high temperatures in September, this was very uncomfortable. The rest of the car was ok and the check-in process was effizient.

Insurance Upselling
Despite pre booking the car and paying £175 extra for “full insurance and zero excess” with our agent, desk staff attempted to upsell insurance - claiming that the mechanics of our car were not covered. We believe that this form of pressure selling is based on misleading information, and that we were in fact covered - but would have to follow a two stage claims process.

Please know that our desk staff are trained to clearly explain what is covered directly by Locauto and what is not, allowing customers full freedom to decide whether they wish to purchase additional protection for complete peace of mind. Locauto has no direct visibility into third-party coverage or full insurance policies purchased through an outside broker, as those contracts are strictly between the customer and the broker.

I'm generally satisfied with Locauto's services. There were a couple of issues that I didn't really like. When we were picking up the car, the staff member was very insistent—really persistent—about us taking additional insurance. There was also an unpleasant moment where we were charged for the extra insurance that we had declined. However, many thanks to the staff who were present when we returned the car—they resolved the issue with the incorrect insurance charge, and we didn't have to pay anything extra. A big plus is that you don’t need a credit card to rent these cars.

Our saviour in times of need
As we urgently needed a car because my credit card chip was faulty and I hadn’t been able to collect the car I’d booked as a result, we had to find a car hire company where we could pay by debit card. And that’s where Locauto comes in! We were given a car straight away at a reasonable price. The lady was very kind and didn’t take advantage of our predicament. I can’t recommend Locauto highly enough

Clean car. Efficient staff. We were early (about an hour) and told our vehicle wasn’t ready, so we ended up paying extra for larger vehicle rather than waiting. No mad push for extra insurance (already covered) or anything, so very happy about that. Drop off to Cagliari airport was only downside as had to lap airport 3 times to find Locauto drop off area. Could have explained that in email or text which would have greatly helped.
