The concept is brilliant, but boxes are a bit hit & miss unfortunately

As soon as I saw this I thought wow, I’ll sign up. My daughter is coeliac and I knew she would love this! Unfortunately the boxes have been a bit hit & miss. Previous months we have had snacks that have been damaged or left the factory faulty, we’ve had items that I wouldn’t specifically choose for a 5 year old (cereal, adult type crisps) but my most concerning issue is the fact the dates are not long enough. In Last month’s box, we had a little chocolate bar and by the time we’d had everything else included in the box, the expiry date had run out! I’ve noticed this quite a lot in the boxes, so if the guys @ love free from could ensure longer dates are included on the selected items that would be fab!

We do team up with brands to use shorter dated stock so as to reduce wastage, we always try to ensure there is a few weeks on these though.

I ordered a gluten free box

I ordered a gluten free box, but most of the items are also vegan, which I can’t stand! I haven’t tried a single dairy free product that I like. I know they say it’s a discovery box, but all it’s doing is confirming how much I hate dairy free products! I also appear to be missing an item in my box. I’ve tried to contact the company via Facebook and instagram and have had no response. To me, when parting with my money with any company, customer service is very important. Their customer service doesn’t seem to be great and the fact I’m missing a product and still haven’t had a response doesn’t sit well with me. I think I’ll be cancelling after my first box, sadly. I’m very disappointed. My box was also quite badly damaged, so maybe they might want to consider using a different courier to Royal Mail.

We are finding these days most gluten free products on the market are also vegan in order to cater for more people and to allow more people to enjoy them. We still get some great feedback on these products and as it is a discovery box there will be some products you may not like but the products do change from month to month.

I have had a look through both Facebook and Instagram and can’t seem to find any contact from you, please could you send this through to us on email at hello@lovefreefrom.co.uk where someone will get back to you as soon as possible. The products vary from box to box so you may not be missing one you may have received a different one; but we will get this sorted for you.

Highly unsatisfactory

I ordered a box on the 12th March and was surprised when I still hadn’t received it a couple of weeks later. I checked and was told that my order was for the April box and would have to wait another couple of weeks (even though I’d had an email from Royal Mail suggesting it was going to be a lot sooner. I then received an email stating it was to be delivered on the 15th March (today). However, then I had an email saying it had arrived at the weekend. As I wasn’t there and this morning the weather was atrocious (raining/hailing/thundering) I arrived home to find the parcel left outside soaking wet. I opened the package and the box was also wet. I emailed customer service and the response I received was sorry for that at least the inside items weren’t likely wet and here’s 10% off my next box! I won’t be ordering from this company again one for this reason but also because when I added up the contents of the box I saved basically next to no money (and this was not looking at any of the items having been on offer or reduced)

UPDATE: In response Isabella this is even more shocking. I wasn’t informed my box had been lost at all, which now makes sense as to why I received the Royal Mail email suggesting they had the first box. The fact that your customer service team have lied and said it was down to me not ordering in time for the March box is terrible. Before I even received the March box on the 15th April you had started to send out the next months one at which point, before even assessing the first one I didn’t want the second to arrive. The box that finally did arrive could have easily been stolen but you don’t seem to have taken that seriously or the state it was in. There was food inside and I don’t appreciate your attitude that they mustn’t have been an issue with these items when the box was wet. I reached out to yourselves and hadn’t even had time to speak to Royal Mail about this today either hoping you would provide a satisfactory solution. The box was £23 btw not £26 of which the contents added out to around this price give or take £1 or £2. Completely shocking

We are so sorry to hear that you are disappointed.

There was a slight mix up with your parcel and the original one had got lost- unfortunately these things do happen and are out of our control. You hadn’t alerted us that you hadn’t received it till a few weeks after where we had resolved this with you and you agreed to receive April’s box as a replacement.

With regards to your delivery we had said that we would pass your complaint onto Royal Mail. Again the delivery of this was out of our hands. There was no mention of damaged products, only packaging, and as all the products are in waterproof packaging these would have been all been completely fine unless mentioned otherwise. We would have course replace any damaged products. As I’m sure you can understand we are a very small company so replacing a whole box would be quite costly to us. We offered the 10% off as our way of apology and as a gesture of goodwill.

April’s box was worth over £26 not including any individual delivery costs you would have had to pay from each brand, and the cost of having to buy in bulk.

Again we are very sorry to hear that you are disappointed as this is not the general feedback we receive and we always strive to do our best and sort things out as efficiently as possible.

Good range of products

Good range of products, just a shame they have changed couriers and had shocking service which lead to out of date products and damaged products, but love free from did replace or refund these

Generally the boxes are good.

***Edit - Isabella, I had originally emailed you 8 days ago about this and was told a replacement would be sent. My email last night was to chase it up.***

Generally the boxes are good.
However, in every box I've had so far, there have been damaged items.
In the most recent box when I discovered more damaged items, I contacted customer services who said they would send a replacement. 8 days on and I've not received anything. I have emailed again but no reply. I'm thinking of cancelling my subscription.

Unfortunately it is inevitable with the way post is treated these days for some items to get damaged- we do try and package them as best that we can. And if there are any damages we aim to rectify it ASAP.

I can see that you had only emailed last night after the team had left and generally we say there is a 24-48 hour wait time for a response, though we do try to get back to you as soon as we can.

Your replacement has been dispatched and is on its way to you this may take 5-7 working days.

Not for me

The box had some good items in but much I couldn't eat. I asked on chat how to cancel but never got a straight answer just more questions. Eventually I got an e mail confirming my next payment from which I was able to cancel. I still however wasn't able to cancel second box.
Easy to sign up but harder to cancel.

Contained products my daughter is intolerant to and was damaged

Products containing oats which my daughter is intolerant to and had been specifically been noted on her account. Failure to send a replacement within a reasonable amount of time (more than 2 weeks). Damaged product within the box which leaked and could not be used

We don't usually customise our boxes however we had done this as a gesture of good will for you. We had sent a replacement out after the original mix up but were unaware that you didn't receive it.

Once we were aware that you didn't receive these and that you had a product damaged we sent out another set of replacements.

We hope that you received these and that your daughter enjoyed her goodies.
