Well I thought I was finished, but they invited this review.
"please feel free to review this email experience at the following link: =====lycamobile.ie. ==== Please include my name and the reason for contacting us."
They still have not refunded my initial payment for a sim card that never worked, it just sat in my tablet "updating"
I paid over 42 euro up front for the mobile account and they never produced any service whatsoever, and have finally said they will refund 33 euro.
I sent dozens of emails and had numerous calls to their helpline with nothing but conflicting information and instructions to use an alternative comms method.
It was only when I approached Comreg, they actually did anything, but it simply isn't enough.
I paid for a service I didn't receive. I have lost hours as well as money on my landline chasing up the money they took from me. This type of service only survives with the deliberate contact difficulties they themselves introduce.
My complaint reference for Comreg had to be chased up, it came outside the timeframe allowed and as my website details were called into question, my request for for data under a GDPR application was totally ignored.
These do NOTHING unless forced into it by someone with authority.

I strongly advise anyone to avoid Lyca Mobile.
My phone service has been completely unusable because their system still has an old eSIM profile linked to my account. This technical issue prevents me from activating my new eSIM, leaving my phone non-functional.
I contacted customer support multiple times and even sent a formal complaint email 10 days ago. I have received zero response.
Even worse, during one of my calls with their support team, an agent verbally insulted me on a recorded line, which is completely unacceptable for a telecommunications company.
At this point I have:
No working phone service
No response from customer support
No resolution to the issue
If this situation is not resolved immediately, I will proceed with:
Filing an official complaint with ComReg (Ireland’s telecommunications regulator)
Requesting a chargeback through my bank for service not provided.
Extremely disappointing experience.

I had to rewrite my previous 1-star review for Lycamobile Ireland because my experience was so frustrating it deserves it. It’s like they’ve perfectly blended incompetence with carelessness. Sure, they offer very competitive prices—but it comes at a cost.
First, their customer care support is a shamble. You could write an essay about how bad it is. Second, SIM activation is an absolute disaster. I’ve never experienced anything like it. After weeks of trying and following their step-by-step directions, we finally gave up and signed up with another provider, who sent a SIM and activated it within two days. Lycamobile, on the other hand, took more than a week to deliver a SIM and three weeks to literally never activate it—despite us following every single instruction they gave.
Even more frustrating, customer support repeatedly promised to “sort it out” or escalate the issue—but a few days later, you have to contact them all over again (Monday to Friday). And judging by the declining star ratings on Trustpilot and countless similar complaints, it seems they really don’t care about feedback.
So, yes—it’s cheap. But in reality, it’s a total hit or miss. I can’t comment on their cellular signal because I never actually got the chance to use it, even though we paid the first monthly fee.
Bottom line: if you have a lot of free time and are unemployed, maybe you can afford to waste it chasing Lycamobile Ireland’s customer service—but as far as I’m concerned, I strongly discourage anyone from switching.

I subscribed to their service for a month for two SIM cards, one for me and one for my daughter. Unfortunately, after two weeks, they blocke my daughter's account.
She couldn't make or receive calls, and there was no internet access.
I bought for my daughter a new SIM card from another company.
Unfortunately, I was surprised to find that they had deducted the renewal fee from my Mastercard, even though they knew the account was blocked
I contacted them by Email and asked them to refund my daughter's subscription fee of 9 euros, providing them with all the necessary information.
Unfortunately, they were uncooperative and requesting additional information without disclosing what that information was.
Therefore, I believe I will not renew my subscription with them.

All the 5-star reviews are fake
The service is horrible, even terrible customer support. You lose connection and you'll never get it back. STAY AWAY FOR YOUR OWN PEACE OF MIND

16th March. Further update.
Just got a text from lycamobile saying the issue is resolved and I am fully connected. It's wrong!
In fact I still have the exact same issue! Nothing has changed!! No data after phone call and Airplane mode fixes the issue.
Tried a sim from another provider (48 Mobile) on the same phone and it does not have any issues. (They also use the Three network.)
Definitely a lycamobile issue... the wait goes on....
16th March Update.
No. I have checked email and spam folder. No instructions received. Please resend.
10th March update: 5 days later, still no contact apart from auto-response saying "Send us your details" which I did.

I reported the same issue 3 times on past 2 months and have not yet received any technical support response.
I keep losing 4G data connection - could be 6 - 8 times per day basically every time I
1. Take or receive a voice phone call
2. Send or receive an SMS
Nothing to do with coverage. I am not moving at the time.
Nothing to do with my Samsung phone - I have tried other phones with same SIM
Nothing to do with SIM - I replaced the SIM with new Lycamobile SIM. No effect.
The only way to recover 3G and 4G data connectivity is to go into airplane mode and back out. Data recovers EVERYTIME when I do this. Same on both phones.
I am a former engineer in the telecoms industry and my company used to build 4G radios. So I am reasonably well informed on this topic.
The issue looks to me to be that ON LYCALMOBILE IRELAND NETWORK all the CALLS AND SMS use the 2G NETWORK!!. (Like we were back in the 1990s!!! )
The Lycamobile network then fails to re-establish the 3G or 4G data connection.
Nobody on the help desk (in India I assume) listened. Just told me it was phone issue, or SIM issue. On top of that they were really rude on the call when I asked to explain how that could be the case given the info above.
Automated emails said I would be contacted. heard from nobody.
A bad review on Trustpilot - but I hope everyone can see why. TERRIBLE MOBILE SERVICE and AWFUL CUSTOMER SUPPORT.

Horrible experience! Mobile data intermittently fails / does not work despite correct APN settings, top-ups, and troubleshooting steps.
Since first day I cannot use mobile data reliably, and customer service has not resolved the issue.
Ah you can't cancel auto renewal...

One day my wife's ESIM stopped working. I called support and a reluctant woman with a foreign accent, probably Spanish, told me to learn English, which was really funny when she pronounced words like "lieajkia irlada". I wrote a complaint to complaint and to customer service in Ireland and the UK. No response even after two months. Therefore I will forward the complaint to COMREG and I will look forward to the court when it decides on compensation for the losses that the woman had. And I will issue an apology for the stupid sentences from support, insults and swearing.

I got a new phone and accidentally deleted my eSIM so could not access any services. I emailed the customer care team through the Lyca Mobile website requesting a new QR code to set up my eSIM but then received a response almost a week later asking for more details and advising I needed to buy a new eSIM for them to transfer my number over.
I contacted the trustpilot team and was helped by Sailendran Balasubramanian who had my eSIM sorted within 2 days of making contact.

Lycamobile is and always will be ass, whether it's their app or website. Switching to another service, Lyca ain't worth it and many people are thinking the same way.

My whole family have been using lycamobile for a long number of years, they started to go downhill when they stopped allowing you to stop the autorenewing. I have had at least 8 payments a month going out of my bank for 7 months, when checking my various families accounts it should only be 2 plans a month, my daughter changed to a contract phone in August with a different provider and I had deleted my card from my sons account. Upon checking my card is still on his account and won't let me delete it!!? I emailed lycamobile over a month ago and was told they would look into it and get back to me within 5 working days. Total rubbish haven't heard a word from them. I am going to have to go to my bank to stop them taking any more money, and I will be changing our sim to a different provider. I suggest if you are with lycamobile you double check your bank statements to see what they are taking out of your banks!!
Edit * after leaving my review lycamobile got in touch and promptly sorted out all the problems I had been having with the billing. All good thank you.

Me and my partner bought Lycamobile SIMs when we first moved to Ireland. Good price, easily available in our town, great international plans. Good option for someone who needs an Irish number here and now and can't get a SIM plan yet or doesn't want to get too attached.
The problems started quickly. We chose the Unlimited plan as we didn't have broadband yet and needed internet access fast. After a few days of normal usage and hotspoting to our laptops, the internet stopped. We contacted the helpline and we were told that it's because it's not truly unlimited - for that we need a more expensive option. Shame that the fair policy usage limit wasn't to be found anywhere on their website back then, I believe they changed it now.
Sometimes I wouldn't be charged for a plan randomly. I would have to wait til the plan expires and buy it again for a full price instead of renewing price. At some point I realised we have two SIMs and I'm paying different prices (10€ vs 20€) for both of them for the same plan, both with auto-renewal on.
Apart from that, I had nearly no problems for around two years, when I started losing service around my workplace. First I thought it was normal - it's at the edge of town, people sometimes reported the network there was poor - then I couldn't connect to the internet in a bigger radius, and after a few weeks I couldn't access the internet anywhere at all. I contacted the help desk, before I got the answer it took another month, when I was still paying for the service I was barely getting. In the end the issue was solved, back to square one, which is bad service and sometimes no data, which was blamed either on issues with my phone or bad signal coverage in certain places.
Then my partner started having same problems, so I realised it wasn't just me. And same story again - really poor coverage in certain places (we live in a bigger town, not rural area), internet working poorly and disconnecting randomly. In addition to that, sometimes their SIM wasn't recognised at all.
When we switched to a different provider, suddenly all our problems vanished. SIMs were recognised instantly, coverage in a whole town, no problems with data. Turns out it wasn't a problem with our devices or area.
As I said before - great if you need something cheap quickly, but I would avoid it for a long run and swapped to a SIM plan anywhere else as soon as you can.
