Like all our tools, the Høvel is an investment piece, made using high-quality materials and is designed to last a lifetime. They are all designed in our studios in London, then manufactured en mass in the design district of Shenzhen, China. The factories there are used by many well-known global high-end brands. We’re very proud to work with our manufacturers who source high quality materials, using cutting edge technology to create our intricate designs, who pay their workers fairly.
In regards to the delivery method, we apologise for the time taken but once it is in the hands of the courier, the delivery time is not within our control. We have fed this back to the fulfilment centre and are looking into any faster alternatives available to them.

Much improvement is needed
Much improvement is needed. The packaging for shipping is pathetic, leather sleeves for Lazlo bent out of shape due to this. Misleading marketing, items made in China, you must be joking! Website useless, told brass Lazlo sold out was not true, induced to purchase aluminium! I have doubts about this company’s authenticity.

We appreciate the feedback on the packaging, we have no intention to deliver our leather products bent and will reconsider how these are packaged moving forward to ensure they are delivered pristine.
We have no intention on our side to mislead, and we have never made claims that some of our products are not made in China. Some items are, and some are not, every manufacturer we work with has been vetted to ensure quality control and environmental / trading standards are adhered to. We also work with suppliers in Japan, Germany, Italy, Portugal and United Kingdom.
We can see that you have placed multiple orders over the years, and there was a hitch on the website with a recent order which we believed to have dealt with effectively and in a timely manner. We apologise if you feel otherwise, we did not realise that it affected your trust in our authenticity.
We can also see that you were able to purchase the brass Lazlo and it was delivered from the United Kingdom to your address in approximately 5 days with DHL. We have not heard anything from you since our last communication on 8th February and had expected everything to be satisfactory. I love your products. They are technically great and of a high level of utility, but they are also really aesthetically pleasing so that I have them on show in my home. Absolutely beautiful and quite gorgeous. I own all your products now which is a statement in itself.

" Makers Cabinet, " stationed in England, I can say that their collection of obscure and unique items ( how about the world's most accurate $100 brass pencil sharpener, for one ) and other oddities; are enticing, and are so spot on in what they do, their function, that in a strange way and without outside comparison, one may be led right to the source; a rarity in itself. I could also compliment their query and consumer reply; transcendantly and oddly friendly!

The jury is out….
The jury is out on the how my experience will be handled on the products that I ordered from Maker’s Cabinet.
I have noticed Customer Service via their email that the products I received were not the same quality as they advertised on their IG. They were not inexpensive and expected far better quality.
The Ferrule brass pencil extender came very tarnished and the timber piece in the Iris compass is not the polished walnut timber they show in their ad, but unfinished, patchy and inferior. As all are gifts, I can not try them to review their performance. Not off to a good start, but hopefully my experience with Maker’s Cabinet can be redeemed by them.
After note: Thank you Keval for responding so quickly and clarifying about the fulfilment centre. I look forward to receiving the replacement order in hopes that the products are as shown in your ads. Cheers

Keval did what he promised and I am a much happier customer. I received my replacement items which were much better. My constructive advice to Makers Cabinet would be for better Quality Control so that the products arrive as they are expected, that way if item is tarnished or timber not finished, QC would catch it before it went out.

Great customer service and product!
Things went a bit wrong with my order but the customer service has been nothing short of amazing with helpful tips, advice on use, and cleaning and with any issues, I was compensated. Keval who was dealing with my issues was super helpful and put my mind at ease when things were not correct and when he said he would follow up he sure did - not many I have had that line form have followed up!

Exceptional quality and service
I own two Makers Cabinet items (the Iris and the Ferrule) and I love them both - very well made, and beautiful to use. Sharpened my watercolour pencils beautifully
The Hovel was tricky to use at first. Getting the blade in the correct position is a bit tricky, even with the magnet. But once it is set up it works beautifully and produces the long lead I need for my watercolour pencils. (I used a Stanley knife first to cut off the coloured lacquer on the outside to expose the wood). The Hovel is the only way to sharpen Albrecht Durer hexagonal watercolour pencils. They are too thick to go in a regular pencil sharpener - I've tried all kinds. The pencil sharpeners that will take the AD pencils only produce stumpy, short leads which are of no use. I'm happy with my Hovel. Thanks
