Joined Bridgend ManvFat in 2025 and from the get go, the coaches were incredibly supportive. A cracking bunch of lads made me feel welcomed right away! I've consistently lost weight as a result of... See more

I’ve been a member of ManvFat for over…
I’ve been a member of ManvFat for over 2 years. The community spirit and support has been a huge reason that I’m now the fittest and healthiest I’ve been in my adult life. I’ve lost over 10 stone and have loved every minute with the accountability this program gives me. Couldn’t thank the people that make it so brilliant enough
You won’t regret it!
I have been a member of Man v Fat Yeovil since 2019 and I’ll never look back.
I’ve lost 40KG in that time and I can safely say that this programme works, but only if you really put your full effort into it.
Obviously Man v Fat can’t make you lose weight, but being part of a team and league where others benefit from your weightloss is what really gave me the motivation to keep working hard.
Man v Fat has given me my love for fitness back and I’ve made friends for life. I’ve gone from 19 stone and getting out of breath going up the stairs, to running 5 days a week and running several marathons. Like I said, it’s all about your own hard work, but Man v Fat provides you with some great tips and advice that will help aid you on your journey.
Take the leap, work hard and you will certainly see rewards for your efforts.
MVF Maidstone
Great bunch of lads and coaches down at Maidstones MVF, Would definitely recommend if you are looking at getting back into football or even just to lose some weight and make a couple of mates whilst doing it.
I have played at multiple MvF leagues and this one is definitely the best one I have played at.
Maidstone MVF
I have being doing MVF for 18 months now and it has changed me life for the better. I am just over 3 and half stone lighter and that is due to the great Maidstone MVF club. The Coach Damo is fantastic with every single member and is always very helpful to everyone. The Friday night sessions are something I look forward to every week to catch up with everyone at the club and play football. I would personally recommend this to anyone interested
Give it a try!!
I am a member at Maidstone, for me this originally started off as a kick about. But after meeting Damo and he explained the ethos behind it I got fully on board. I would fully recommend MVF to anyone/everyone who's interested. I have made lots of friends and this is a community/family. Well done Damo and Kerry!!
A lot of injuries and player aggression…
A lot of injuries and player aggression was experienced during my time at Man v Fat. Not much weight loss either as you get very little play time for the price paid. Definitely not worth it.
It works
Great staff and a great bunch of lads.if you want to lose weight and play a game you love it’s well worth trying.⚽️🏃♂️
Very poor
Very poor. paid my deposit and my monthly subscription fee. They then e-mail me to say i cant play because of my BMI being too low and then they refuse to give me a refund

Man v slightly obese
Went along and played for a couple of Months. Lots of fighting and tempers mainly from players who are not quite good enough/slim enough to be in pub football but not what i would call fat. if your team has 8 players you might get 10 minutes a week of running around. doesnt really do much. for 30 quid its prob best to go to the gym

Dirty toxic players
I'll start by saying that the coaches and many of the players who come to MAN V FAT are very amicable.
Sadly, it attracts alot of nasty players who cannot play football to save their life. Most don't care about losing weight. They see MAN V FAT as just an excuse for them to take out their frustrations from their sad lives.
If you are a competent player who can actually run around abit, and play football to a decent standard, expect to he kicked, stamped on, elbowed, obstructed etc. All of this will happen to you whilst the referee or coaches do nothing.
I played one full season and got injured on several occasions due to dirty/stupid opposition players. Do not play in their 'league' if you work for a living. If you plan just to stand around and not run you'll probably be ok. Do not play if you are actually fairly decent. You'll just get hurt by many one of the morons that attend. Meaning you need to seek medical treatment or take time off work.
Shame as it is a great concept and I feel it is fair to mention that many of
the players are fair. As usual, anything nice is spoiled by the minority.
MAN V FAT you need to step up and take measures to protect players from injury. Ban the buffoons and players who just want to hurt others because they are useless at football.
I was a member of mvf Warrington
I was a member of mvf Warrington, I found it very cliquey this brought the competitive side out but also made it not enjoyably at times, I was hacked twice in consecutive weeks by a lad, sort of tackle that could put you out of work, 2nd time I reacted we were both sent off, I was told I would get a ban and a fine but nothing came through from Cheshire fa, they continued to take my monthly fee so I cancelled direct debit eventually months later I tried to rejoin as I had friends still playing and they told me things had improved massively but was told I couldn’t rejoin along with the other lad we had life bans I’ve since heard the other lad has been allowed rejoin confirming the clique I always felt existed, they do a lot of good in the community and if you want to lose weight you will but if you want to enjoy it make sure your face fits

Man v Fat is a great initiative
This is a review from Mike Hope. Unfortunately, several years ago my wife provided a review with my email address, and Trustpilot are not able to rectify this.
Man v Fat is a great initiative. You are with a group of lads who want to lose weight, and there's a game of football every week thrown in. At Sunbury there is a very strong spirit amongst the players across the teams, and people support each other through trials and tribulations to lose weight. The standard of football is good, it's 5 a-side to encourage you to do more exercise, and substitutes for those of us who run out of breath. There are plenty of amazing stories of what people have achieved, but it's all light-spirited, and there's plenty of banter to go round. Everyone welcome, and no one says anything if you're not so good for the first few weeks. We've all been there
Doncaster Man v Fat have
Doncaster Man v Fat have, has and is absolutely fantastic. Since joining I have met a lot of friends achieved amazing goals and had so much fun. The bonus is just losing weight along the way.
It’s great for mental health getting out the house and generally have a blast.
Fantastic experience
Fantastic atmosphere. Very supportive and great fun. It has helped me lose 4st in the 10 months I’ve been going.
Join because it does work!
I Joined MvF Sunbury due to me realising I have to do something about my weight I’ve been doing this for about half a year now and I’ve lost 10Kgs so far bringing my bmi down from something scary to not so scary. I don’t have a bad thing to say about the whole scheme it’s a fun incentive to lose weight and if you love football which I do it’s a no brainer. Coaches are lovely and all the people you meet are in the same boat as you and are very supportive.
Wigan Group Five Stars
Wigan Group Five Stars
I joined to simply start playing football again, but join a group where I'm not chasing 20yr olds around. My weight loss journey so far has been up and down, but that's down to me not the group.
The group has been very welcoming and supportive, throughout my time here and the new coach has recently re-energised the group which was needed and has been appreciated. I do sometimes find myself questioning the value of the £31 monthly fee, but you know what; you'd pay £27 per month for weight watchers just to turn up each week, join a queue, weigh-in and then leave. This is much better as you get a game of footy. Each to their own, but I really look forward to my weekly kick about.
Has literally changed my life.
Five months ago in August '23 I decided to join ManVFat Football Sunbury.
I'd just spent the last 6-7 years battling Agoraphobia and severe depression.
During that time being a shut-in my weight, understandably, ballooned.
I didn't go anywhere, see anyone because of the social anxiety that comes with it and that inevitably led to me becoming ill and ending up in a coma.
That was April '22.
I was then 211 kg and a mess.
My fiance picked me up and started enforcing changes.
I sought further help and began making small changes, diet, exercise, counselling.
Forward 16 months to that August '23 and I had gone out a few times, weight had stalled at 182 kg, and I was still essentially a shut in who couldn't be around people.
Then I read an article about ManVFat Football.
Couldn't get it out of my head.
I made an enquiry and wax invited down to see how it works.
This you can understand, was a huge thing for me, so my son helped me get there, and I watched and listened in the background, the members, playing, watching, supporting & basically having a laugh.
I legged it after 30 minutes but, something played over and over.
There was usual chatter about football and jokes, but what I was hearing was this huge support and interest in the weight loss and how they were achieving it.
So I joined and 01/09/23 was my first session, same day it turns out, that the new head coach started.
I turned back 3 times, but made it, and despite myself, jumped in feet first.
The coaches were so supportive, we discussed where I was, what I needed and how best to achieve it.
I was given lots of information and introduced to my new teammates.
I'm 50, haven't played football since I was 25, and I was spectacularly awful.
But I wasn't made to feel that way.
Be it my team, the opposition or the other players waiting to or already having played.
They made me feel a part of them.
By Christmas '23, in just under 4 months I've lost 23 kg.
They've literally changed my life.
They've given me the tools to make sustainable changes.
I've gone from being outside half a dozen times in 7 years, not seeing my friends and being 100% sedentary, to going out everyday. To seeing friends I missed. Exercising practically everyday.
ManVFat Sunbury has the most amazing individuals.
2 coaches, who let nothing go by the wayside.
Everything is about providing us with an enjoyable environment, with sustainable tools and opportunities, that, if we are honestly receptive to them, will improve our lives mentally and physically.
The information is in person, online, in websites, manageable recipes, useful tips or rewarding challenges.
And it's all knowledge passed on without preaching.
Then there's the Teams of players that offer support to each other in all areas.
It is, other than the friends I now have the good fortune to be with, the most inclusive bunch I have ever met.
I am getting better at being around people.
I still feel like legging it, but now I can say I don't want to.
They know who and what I am, and the only thing that matters is how I am doing, and be it weight loss or weight gain, they carry you.
If I'm being honest, I am a Rugby fan.
Never followed football, but now, because of ManVFat, I have a passing interest because it matters to them.
So it matters to me.
You get out of life what you put in.
ManVFat Football has honestly changed my life, and with that positive change, it has had the knock on effect in other areas.
Incidentally, I am still shockingly awful at football, but that only matters to me, not them.
If you are in a catchment for any of their clubs/leagues, and looking to make these types of changes, then ManVFat Football is a recommendation.
And it's Sunbury league is simply put, something special.
Changed my life for the better
I joined MvF about 2 years ago in a bid to lose weight and start playing football again after a 5 year hiatus. Being brutally honest I haven't lost as much weight as I would have wanted to but that's more down to me than MvF. As somebody else said you get out of it what you put in, there are no easy shortcuts to losing weight especially if your in your late forties like me!
That being said I'm about 10Kg lighter than I was 2 years ago, a lot fitter, and have made loads of new friends.
MvF is more than just a weight loss program it's been great for my mental health also, as it's got me off the couch and running around playing footy again.
I'd highly recommend anybody who's thinking of joining to give it a go, it's certainly changed my life for the better.
MvF works for me
Currently a member of Man V Fat Bristol Central and have been since the league started in March 2023.
I have enjoyed fully embracing the ethos behind MvF, I have met a great bunch of lads and have been losing weight in a supportive way.
One of the main topics of conversations has been the fee and what we get for it, not a problem, as the coach is very open with regards to the dugout/hub and the regular advice and ideas through that. As well as referee'd games, balls, the coach himself, marketing to bolster players and experience, organisation - I organise a weekly game alongside this and that is not an easy task by any stretch of the imagination so the systems in place here make that side of it more fluid.
Those that are thinking of getting involved, check out the Facebook groups and the other social media comments from people that can and do fully embrace the plan of MvF and are dropping the lbs!
MAN v FAT Highly Recommended
Been at MAN v FAT for a while and it has really helped me in a number of ways.
It has given me a whole new circle of friends that I would never have had if I hadn't signed up. A lot of those are still involved with the programme but as and when they leave we still keep in touch.
The weekly club nights are one of the highlights of my week and as an off shoot we now do other activities away from the club and we do charity events to raise money for local causes.
Although the football games are competitive the emphasis is on weight loss, but the rivalry is healthy and as and when we do any events as a club, the teams come together and the atmosphere is still great. Would highly recommend this to any men that are overweight and want to get some weight shifted, also if you have any anxiety/mental health issues it can also help with that as well. If you aren't sure then get down to a club night and have a look at how it works and have a chat with the players and/or coach and they will answer any questions you may have. It is a rolling membership so if you sign up and do a couple of months and decide it isn't for you then you can cancel your membership and leave, but hopefully by then you will be hooked and want to stay.
