Joined Bridgend ManvFat in 2025 and from the get go, the coaches were incredibly supportive. A cracking bunch of lads made me feel welcomed right away! I've consistently lost weight as a result of... See more

Went badly down hill
I have recently joined the Middlesbrough branch of M v F and so far it has been a great experience. I was warmly welcomed both in the WhatsApp group and face to face. All the lads so far have been friendly, passing on tips and providing encouragement.
So very positive here and long may it continue!
Well unfortunately it didn’t continue.! A so called “Captain” decided to join after four weeks of harmony and was obsessed with weight loss, with no respect for the lads mental health.
In reflection I maybe misjudged the whole ethos of Man v Fat so happy to take the hit! However where does the “Captain” get the time and the money to do 90 mins of Tennis and Spa treatments every second day? Normal lads can’t compete with that type of outlay!
Avoid this money making scam
This is just a money making scam. I'm down at Weymouth and don't think man v fat actually has any contribution on my weight loss every thing I've lost has been to things out side of man v fat.
You pay £31 a month for on average an hour of football for the whole month. When there's 30-40 people all paying that and the pitch is £30 to hire for an hour, as a customer I don't see what our money is paying for.
Been told there's lots of info on the hub to help with weight loss. All of it is basic and you get more detailed support from Google. No support or advise from the "coach" just there as a box ticking exercise.
My advise, join start talking to people, all leave and then just rent a pitch separately. Save you a lot of money, play more football and your weight loss will be the same as man v fat contribute nothing in that department
God football
Couple harsh reviews there that don't paint the picture at all. I think people who unhappy about one situation going way over the top. Its simple if you want to get back into football and unfit this game is ideal. There's young and older people there and no one has a go at you for being limited in what you can do. The rest is upto you in terms of losing weight but there is support if you need it. Personally I have quit not because I don't enjoy it I just can't commit everyweek and the ref being removed because another club complained didn't sit right with me so I made a decision. The way the clubs being run is fine and Kenny ain't a bad person at and end of day it's just a game a football . People leaving anonymous reviews giving him it stinking is cowardly. Go speak to the man if you have issue. In all I would recommend paisley they guys are decent and I'm one of the worst people to get along with socially and still managed to have a laugh here and there. Paul Devine - Meal Madrid player (ex)
A bit of camaraderie through football & team building.
I, too, am a member of East Kilbride Man v Fat which has it's moments but all in all is a decent way to help you lose weight. Always looking for new players to build up squads. You only play for 30 minutes though. Come along if you want to play, lose a bit of timber or more. Friendlies against Man v Fat Paisley are not advised, they complain about EVERYTHING even though both my feet were stepped on with studs and if you do play them wear shinguards as I had a big gash on my leg such was their tackling.
Great club
I'm a member of east Kilbride club which is a very good club with a fantastic camaraderie and always helping one another the referee at the club think his name is William is fantastic and a credited ref who is well respected coach Kenny keeps everyone's weight and nutrition up to date and always there to give advice on any eating stuff if your thinking of joining don't hesitate and also the guys are very supportive if your struggling with any mental health issues all in all a fantastic club
Great experience, poor leadership and support.
Man v fat is a great way for overweight men to improve their physical and mental health, I have enjoyed the experience as a whole and getting the opportunity to represent my team as a captain and assist the guys on their own journeys alongside my own has resulted in myself being much more invested in this than I could have ever expected. The only area it falls short is communication and a serious lack of leadership outwith the activity of playing football. There have been players/officials kicked out with no opportunity to defend themselves even though the guys they’re dealing with on the pitch week in week out have no issues with them and have shown their desire to stay. Multiple members have tried to contact man v fat at a coach level and higher with their concerns and every attempt has unfortunately fell on deaf ears. However the experience as a whole is worthwhile as 90% or more of the experience is down to the men on the pitch and not off it. Hence 4 out out 5 stars given. I would still recommend any over weight guys who want to shed the pounds and get active to come along and give it a try for themselves. - Dillan McHendry, Paisley all blacks.
Terrible Experience
Terrible Experience! I was a member at the Paisley club for a number of months & felt intimidated to speak my mind or have any kind of opinion. The coach came across very arrogant and seemed to have some kind of superiority complex which is disappointing given he was once in our position. Friendly games between clubs, specifically East Kilbride, were incredibly toxic. Inappropriate behaviour (at times just plain violent) from long term members at the East Kilbride club was brushed under the carpet when reported to the Paisley Coach and instead resulted in the regular referee being sacked (despite large support from the Paisley team). Overall feel it could be great as for the most part the fellow players are incredibly supportive, but the Paisley Coach & the lack of any kind of accountability left a sour taste in my mouth.

Fantastic set up and great coaches
Fantastic set up and support from the coach and the lads involved.
Really great experience and the motivation to succeed is really positive.
Stay away from paisley
Great potential to work just so badly run from top to bottom and paisley club is a shambles, needs to be better run from the coach to head office such a shame its being ran into the ground on more than one occasion. the paisley coach allowed violence to take place and was brushed under the carpet when it was raised, and the unfair sacking of the referee, so badly run and long standing members mistreated, it seems EK can go about kicking lumps put of people and nothing done and the referee looses his job for lies.the coach needs to Take a look at himself and MVF yous are loosing members again at a rapid rate all because the way in which the coach has ran the club and the way MvF has conducted themselves, shocking treatment and felt very intimated while there

Best weightloss program ever
Man vs Fat Scunthopre is one of the best things to happen to this town. We have a great friendly bunch of lads and a mix of all ages. The support we all give each other is second to none. We also have alot of banter. Dave our coach is really supportive, and there if we ever need anything. This is not only a weight loss program but also helps get you out doing physical exercise and staying active. They give you hint and tips on what food you can cook to help keep it healthy. They also help with exercise programs posting regular in the WhatsApp group for us to read. This is one of the best things I have decided to do. I feel alot fitter and have shifted a couple of stone in the process. This also helped me look good in my wedding photos. Massive thank you to all involved in MVF
The best thing I've ever done
The best thing I've ever done. For 20 years I've watched my weight increase but the combination of accountability and playing football is superb. 2 stone down in 18 months and a couple of lbs of my wedding weight 14 years ago. It's the highlight of my week. I've read a few negative reviews which is really surprising, depends on the club you join I suppose but the Tonbridge one is supportive and played in great spirit. I don't think you can blame manvsfat for injuries just like you wouldn't blame a gym or a 10k run. I think everyone that wants to lose weight and loves football should join
Very poor
Very poor. Throwen in the deep end with no training or any support with warm up.
We lost a game and the team wast mostly non coherent. Very millitant way of loosing weight. Weight loss programs should be monitored and this is not. Strongly recommend not singing up. Group chats are too intense. At the end off the day I wanted to loose weight and have fun.
Be very careful about joining Man v…
Be very careful about joining Man v Fat. I was a member for around a year and saw both numerous injuries on the pitch first hand (e.g. a ruptured achilles right in front of me), and heard of others who left due to serious injury. Eventually it was my turn, tearing my ACL and meniscus on the pitch. The NHS wait time for the surgery is one year, and I have had to pay £8,500 privately to have knee surgery sooner. Man v Fat do not insure you, and in fact still wanted me to keep paying their subscription fee after the injury to avoid me losing my place on my team. That's how much care and consideration they have for you. If you don't have private health care or income protection insurance (especially if you work a manual labour job), be very, very careful as an overweight man to be running around playing football with other overweight men. It's an accident waiting to happen and it could cost you a fortune. I truly wish I never joined Man V Fat.
Edit: a year later, Man v Fat are trying to flag this review for “harmful or illegal content” to get it taken down. The review is based on my experience with this company after spending almost a year paying them £28 a month. I have all payment history to prove this. I won 3x seasons in a row with my team before my injury. However, Man v Fat let me down massively following my injury, they still wanted payment for me to keep my place in my team! They didn’t care at all and they don’t cover you. The experience with Man v Fat cost me over £8,500. Beware before you sign up with this company. I experienced a severe injury and saw many others in my year as a customer.

Exceptional Customer Service - My Experience with ManvFat
I recently had an experience with ManvFat and unfortunately, due to my special case, I was not satisfied with their services. However, I must say that their customer service team is exceptional.
After expressing my concerns and requesting a refund, I was quickly contacted by their team who listened attentively to my case. They informed me that while they normally do not offer refunds, my situation was eligible and they were happy to assist me.
Their team was extremely kind, professional, and understanding throughout the entire process. They kept me updated every step of the way and ensured that my refund was processed promptly.
Although my experience with their services was not what I had hoped for, I highly recommend ManvFat for their exceptional customer service. Their willingness to assist me with my special case and ensure my satisfaction was greatly appreciated. Thank you, ManvFat!
Great experience!
Its great to be amongst guys with the same goal. Love the team work and supportive feedback from the organisers and teamates! No pressure on the pitch as you can take each game at your own pace.
A really great club.
Very supportive bunch of people who are non judgemental and make it an enjoyable place to go every week. The coach, Jasmine, is very friendly and encouraging.
I joined mvf about 6 weeks ago
I joined mvf about 6 weeks ago, and it's been a really enjoyable experience. If nothing else, all the lads I've met (in two different teams now) have all been welcoming, and we are all like-minded enjoying losing weight whilst having a laugh playing football. 6 more weeks and I hope to be able to run around for 90 minutes like the old days. Our coach, Jasmine, is really nice and not afraid to give you appropriate feedback either.
Life changer
This whole experience has changed my life! Best shape I’ve been in for the last 10 years, love the banter before the games, love the group chat, love the games! Love everything about it. Even get nutrition advice from Nadim to push me that extra mile. Recommend this to anyone looking to get in shape
Brilliant for weight loss and football
Brilliant for weight loss and football. Great coach, helpful and knowledgeable. Good camaraderie amongst the teams. Great place to lose weight and enjoy a game of football
