Liars and cheats

Liars and cheats. Nothing is ever covered. Either you have no proof it wasn’t preexisting because you never saw a doctor for it, or you saw a doctor and it is therefore preexisting. Use CHM. They are legit. Medi-share is a scam.

Telehealth is good, Service overall basically a black hole scam

Telehealth is good, fast and decent benefit

Main benefits for submitted bills seems like a huge scam. They turn down eligible expenses, they do a ‘survey’ based percentage used for your age and demographic etc
Basically they find a way to not pay or count your expenses towards the annual minimum

They hide the fact they survey the amount of money to a zip code for a problem
. IE: colitis in dallas,Tx claim denied based on some be survey even though hospital bill was $20,000

Ultimately a total waste. I’m going to cancel after 3 years….cant trust on a big issue they would pay anything or count it.
They cover or pay whatever they feel like
Highly recommend finding another solution

Beware of Medi-Share

Beware of Medi-Share! We have been members for a few years and things had been going fine. Some things weren’t “shareable” but seemed minor u til my daughter with terrible migraines couldn’t find a medication that helped. She was having 2-3 migraines a week and it was debilitating. The neurologist finally recommended trying Botox injections (and it has been one of the only things that have truly helped). The drs office called for their pre-approval process (they may call it something else) and they said Botox for migraines could be shareable. So we made our decision based off of that information. They always say final determination will be made at the time the billing is submitted (as a way to not guarantee anything and cover their butts to deny your claim). They knew she was a pediatric patient but never said they wouldn’t approve it for pediatric patients. They denied the procedure stating that they wouldn’t cover because she’s a pediatric patient and it’s not formulary. When i asked why they have a process for the drs office to call and verify beforehand i was told that I should have personally called and that’s the only true way to verify if a procedure would be covered (because it would trigger some sort of actual review - so why don’t they do this when the drs office calls???? Or tell the drs office that the patient should call in to actually find out if it is shareable? They had no answer to their broken system). I asked how i could have known that and she read some guideline to me that didn’t even say that. I asked how anyone can have confidence having a major medical procedure and not being stuck with massive bills and was told that final determination could only be made after the bill was submitted. I no longer have any confidence in this company and am now stuck with a bill for $8,700. To truly help this procedure needs to happen every 4 months. How can anyone afford this??? They thought continuing to say “I hear you” would just magically fix the problem. Do yourself a favor and choose a different company. I am now looking elsewhere for a new company and let them know they were losing a member. They don’t care. They’re happy to take your monthly premiums and not pay for procedures, even if you call in beforehand.

Also, nothing at a chiropractors office is shareable - even in office PT. I knew adjustments wouldn’t be, but that’s kind of lame…

Seems like a scam to me

Medishare does not offer much in the way of health care. Their deductibles are very high and pretty much ANY condition will be considered a pre-existing condition. Seems like someone is making ALOT of money from this and I question if it is legit. Lets pray about it... GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!

I started coughing up tons of blood…

I started coughing up tons of blood last July. I didn't feel sick at all. I went to my local hospital in an ambulance, and had loads of tests done on my lungs. They found that it was pneumonia. The total for everything - ambulance, tests, pills, hospital stay, and follow-up - was over $30,000. I had a $6000 deductible and an HSA account with a little more than $6000 in it. I didn't have any issue paying $6000 of my portion with my HSA. Medishare never gave me any trouble at all. I don't usually leave positive reviews, but considering all the trash talk against them, I felt I should share my experience.

They have SO many problems...They KNOW…

They have SO many problems...They KNOW they have a problem processing physical checks thru the USPS. They have too many sub-contractors, and expired contractors who cannot properly process monthly-share payments. Their staff was once sweet and knowledgable. Now? They use AI to answer e-mails...and don't address any of your issues, problems or concerns. English is a 2nd if not 3rd language for the staff I have to constantly speak to. They use their slush-fund of "Extra Blessings" to collect late-payment fees...which often occur given their on-going payment processing errors which they want to haplessly blame on the USPS rather than accept responsibility for. Audit your incomming payments and fix your problems! They are CLUELESS re: Customer Service. Their expansion of covered services is troubling...getting into very grey areas. They've recently changed their provider network...and their is now literally NO In-Network Providers in my state! Our family only uses Medi-share to be legally compliant...but because I told the truth about my weight...not long after having a baby after age 40...they zapped me w/ an excess fee b/c I'm "a health-risk." It's oh-so reassuring to have a company flying the Christian flag who criticizes/questions God's handi-work. I've been w/ them for coming on 10 years and they've had NO medical bills to pay on our behalf for 5+ years. BUT...to "graduate" from their sanctioned-status requires blood-work and a physician-authorized form. All because I told the truth when I applied. Their health-coaches they sicked on me were bad PR cheer-leaders...they were very young and incompetent. They knew nothing of "fasting" (HELLO-read your Bible much?) and could barely read their script. They had NO nutritional knowledge! Never-mind that MY physician? Tells me I'd be in dire straits if I'd fall into their BMI index. The Body Mass Index scale is incredibly flawed...and the research criticizing it is well-documented. It's such a horridly-flawed matrix...my physician couldn't believe it was still being used. Their company hold-times when you telephone for Customer Service are always excessively long...minimum of 20 minutes. Their hold-loop repeats w/ tinkling hymns and condescending messages every 90 seconds so it's HARD to be on hold. They illegally use your SSN to identify you...they raise your house-hold share every 5 years...or when-ever their new board decides to expand services. The problem is...is that the account that holds my family's share/premium? Always has SEVERAL thousands of dollars in it...which I know in my heart-of-hearts COULD/SHOULD be used to help other members. The staff are also troublingly arrogant and condescending. Procedurally, they tried forcing digital communications and digital payments on me...which is unnecessary and unGodly. Now there's a surcharge! There is NO mandate that I have a computer, a cell-phone, internet-access, or an e-mail account to have need for a healthcare sharing ministry. I've a body, a checkbook and a mailbox...but I had to threaten to get my state attorney general to inform them of this...in order to receive my monthly-share notice by US Mail. They were once a great organization w/ fantastic, caring and knowledgable staff. Now? They're just the least-expensive option. My last interaction finally got me thru to a senior staff member whose arrogance was shocking. She actually marginalized me as I respectfully pleaded my case...asking "How am I supposed to continue to tolerate such poor service?" Rather than document my troubles she assumed I was lying and said I would need to provide payment data...which I did...but my large regional bank's procedures don't mesh w/ their operations...and they couldn't tell me WHY they needed the data...b/c it still would NOT help them find my check. So, rather than realize the reality of a long-standing member's experience, she simply became arguementative and asked if I had such grave concerns about Medi-share why it was I was continuing to be a member? More & more, there is no response and no remedy...no Customer Service. It's SO dis-heartening...I explained that when you continue to ignore people and treat people poorly (the antithesis of Christianity) it WILL result in litigation. I'm shopping for another healthcare sharing ministry again...but their house-hold share prices are still the best...but they really do treat members VERY poorly. I mean if I'm always PAYING and not asking for bills to be paid...wouldn't you want to NOT treat those people poorly?! Really, Really done w/ poor behavior and sub-standard practices from companies like Medi-Share who fly the Christian Flag and continue to hold a prestigious business rating. Consider yourself warned...

Don't buy unless you don't want to die!!!!

Don't buy if you don't want to die!!!!!

I will get right to the point. Medishare found a loophole to not pay for my wife's lifesaving liver transplant. She was in critical condition and had days to live and Medishare wouldn't give the hospital any answer AT ALL about whether they would cover it and just referred them to their website for info. I was in total disbelief at their total lack of care and no willingness to help in any way at all. They could care less and just gave lip service. They were absolutely horrible and there was Nothing Christian at all about how they dealt with my wife! I would swear the devil was calling the shots there. They even offered to pray for my wife while telling me they were gonna let her die cuz it wasnt fair to other members to help pay for this. My wife was sent home to die from IU's transplant center in Indianapolis after they said nothing could be done as they have a 3 month waiting period for transplants. We had days left. I didnt accept that answer and found a team in new york that saved her life. Medishare was going to let her die. They claimed a peth score which is not an FDA approved test and her surgeon said the virus she had would throw false numbers but they found the score somewhere and basically said I was not telling the truth or something. A peth lab score measures past alcohol consumption. We did drink socially but so did Jesus. The score was so far off it wasnt even believable according to a surgeon at IH Health. Jesus would never look for reasons and excuses to not save someone let alone not even make any effort at all. But God had other plans because unlike Medishare he does what's right ALL the time. It was OVER 2 million in medical bills and services! That is it took to save her. We negotiated a prepay big discount but I still had to wire big 6 digits payment In advance with 30 minutes notice before the jet picked her up to transport her to NY, otherwise she wouldn't not have gotten a bed and would have died within a day or two. I really hope God sets them straight when they meet him. I expect this from non-christians, but never would I have dreamed there would be such awful people claiming their christian faith is to help and save yet wont even help us find out if she could be covered at first, then later looked for loopholes and money savings to benefit their Christian members. I will be praying to God to intervene in this company and start actually acting Christian! Jesus will say to many "who are you, I never knew you". I think there will be a lot of that in the end with these people! Its just so sad even a christian organization gave the worst possible service I think I have ever encountered. I Never say people are or not really christians, but act talk and walk like a duck... might be a duck! NEVER EVER EVER TRUST THIS ORGANIZATION! God saved my wife... Medishare would have cost her life! They were going to let her die! I asked about another test, etc. No interest in that, no interest in a LETTER FROM A SURGEON. They found their loophole and clung to it like glue. No interest at all in trying to find a way to save her life. I pray they don't find themselves in the situation they put others in.

Rejected.

My best friend is self-employed and tried Medi-share. He lives in the Dallas TX area.
He needed a knee surgery and the hospitals would NOT accept Medi-share. Basically, it isn't actually an official insurance company.

Medi Share is a nightmare

Medi Share is a nightmare! After 5 years of payng I had an accident that required medical care. I have been working for MONTHS and still cannot get any help or closure. I will do my best to map out the issues:

1.) They are very clear in stating that they are "not insurance"... the only problem is that they require paperwork from the hospitals / care providers that is insurance comapny paperwork Hospitals and Physicians DO NOT / WILL NOT provide "UB" forms or "HCFA" forms to "self pay" individuals. They will also not work with Medi-Share to give them those forms because "they are not an insurance company"

2.) Without those forms, you are "dead in the water" ...
a.) They do not count the already paid bills to your household out of pocket amount / your pseudo-deductible.
b.) They do not want to honor a "request to share" the bill without those forms.

3.) They masquerade as "insurance-like" with their card and proposed billing format, but they actually do not really provide the services. In this way they are deceptive. The transparency of other sharing programs is much higher.

4.) They pretend to be willing to help... but trust me after 100's of hours on the phone... they DO NOT. I have emailed. I have called. I have mailed forms. I have waited... and then did it al again... nothing.

5.) They cannot and will not contact the hospitals for you... and trust me ... HOSPITALS DO NOT WANT TO WORK WITH MEDI-SHARE. Around my town (Greenville, SC) having Medi-share is like having a "scarlet letter" or leprosy in the bible... it will get you shut down real quick.

6.) My injury required a knee surgery.
a.) The only "in network hospital" within 25 miles of me did not have an operating room... and NO SURGEON
b.) The "in network" surgeon they referred me to DID NOT OPERATE ON KNEES
c.) They say you can choose "out of network" for a potential 20% penalty... but YOU WILL NEVER GET THE PROPER FORMS FROM THE HOSPITAL TO INITIATE A REQUEST TO SHARE / etc. ( See numbers 1 and 2 above)

7.) This means you are treated as a "cash paying" / "self pay" patient at the hospital. This feeds into why the hospital doesn't want to prepare paper work for you, give you more complicated / coded bills and surely doesn't want to prepare or provide UB forms or HCFA forms with their tax information on it!

8.) Being self pay for an accidet that requires knee surgery means you will be REQUIRED TO PAY 100% OUT OF POCKET / UP FRONT AT MOST HOSPITALS. So... do you want to dish out $96,000.00 for the hospital, $12,000 for the surgeon, $5,300 for Anestesia and $10,000 for PT!?!?!? Even with a 30% discount ngotiated for self pay... you are still at almost $90,000.00 out of pocket. Who has that !?!

9.) Are you really going to dish $90,000.00 out up front trusting that this scam of a company is going to "share the cost" with you the way that they advertise? They won't even acknowledge the $10,000 you have already paid out of pocket even though you sent in coded receipts, statements, and invoices from the hospital - because they are missing a "UB form". I am not even asking for any $ and they are unreasonable... imagine when you have gone on the hook for $90k!

10.) The saddest part is that they masquerade as "Christian". I have been a pastor over 20 years... and it saddens me that this is the charater of a company who flys under the banner of Christ. I was injured 9/1/22... and am still suffering and not able to see care because these people I was trusting since 2017 turned out to be a bunch of bologna!

100% WOULD NOT EVER RECCOMEND OR TRUST THESE PEOPLE. I am convinced the people giving good reviews have never had to actually use the services in a worst case scenario. I have talked with 2 different hospital managers who have since affirmed that this is Medi Share's mode of operatoin. They both spoke candidly and said that their lack of character and inability to deliver is why they simply will not in anyway work with Medi-Share.

I want to warn as many people as possible so they don't end up stuck like me.
