Well, you should be more transparent on our adds. When you market a free event on your website it does not mean that it is free. I take the example of the Life drawing. How on earth you market it free... See more

Meetup acts as a bridge

Meetup acts as a bridge, offering a gateway to a range of social experiences, thanks to its ease of use for connecting with others and signing up for events on a variety of topics in my city, Barcelona. It offers a wide variety of activities that combine leisure, work and the micro and macro worlds of entrepreneurship. I would 100% recommend it to anyone looking to expand their network.

Glitchy

Glitchy, overly complex website with endless paywalls. Dying groups. Sadly been ruined. Facebook groups are better

A Place Where Writing Is Read with Care

This bimonthly Zoom Meetup, Dorchester (and Beyond) Writers, is consistently one of the most rewarding writing communities I participate in. The conversations are thoughtful and generous, grounded in close, attentive reading and a spirit of constructive critique that genuinely encourages growth. I value the way participants engage both intellectually and empathetically, offering insights that deepen my understanding of my own work while honoring individual voice and intention. Each session feels less like a workshop checklist and more like an ongoing, evolving dialogue among writers who are invested in one another’s craft.

I LOVE MEETUP!

I am so glad that I've joined Meetup. I always feel welcomed, not only by the host but also by the other group members. It's such a wonderful feeling to share common interests with others, in a friendly, safe environment. Highly recommended!

Suspected Identity Harvesting.

I was signed up to Meetup for less than an hour, and had only signed up to try and warn its users that their information seemed to have been harvested from this website to be used fraudulently. Alas, even after signing up, I was unable to message the affected users, and trying to navigate the Meetup team was extremely frustrating. If you're considering signing up, please be aware that your profile picture, name, and the groups you belong to may be used to scam people outside the platform!

Fast fix - impressed with the response time!

As a Meetup group organiser I rely heavily on the platform running smoothly. When i noticed I could no longer view member past event details from the attendee list, I lodged a support ticket with screenshots showing the exact steps i took. Within 24 hours, the team had identified the root cause and fixed it - and kept me updated throughout. Honestly didn't expect such a quick turnaround. Really impressed, and a noticeable improvement on past experiences. Thanks Chiara and the team

I'm on my 6th trip around the world

I'm on my 6th trip around the world, mostly solo, and I often attend meetup gatherings. Yesterday was my first day in Shanghai. I signed up for a meeting..the location was never given. I spoke with the organizer who said there would be no meeting. Today is my 2nd day. This time no one showed up even though the site said 12 were signed up. The sponsor did not return my messages

Meetup makes it impossible to restore…

Meetup makes it impossible to restore your password and get into your account. I have never seen such a poorly run and reviewed site so I guess I am not alone in my frustrations. I finally had to delete my account. It seems the site could be programmed to be more user friendly, and possibly have everyone pay a small fee per month, e.g. $2 - Not $10/week as I was continually asked!

Charged Without Realizing — No Refund Despite Not Using the Service

I downloaded the Meetup app some time ago and did not realize I was being charged for a subscription. I never intentionally subscribed, never attended any events, and wasn’t even actively using the app at all.

When I discovered charges and contacted support to explain the situation and request a refund, they refused, saying the payments were not eligible for a refund.

It’s very disappointing to be charged 20 dollars a month for something you didn’t knowingly sign up for, and even more disappointing that there was no flexibility or willingness to help resolve the issue. Never again,

Erased unpublished groups and hours of setting up. No communication

I created three groups on meetup yesterday to promote training of personal growth and assisting others in difficult life situations. It took hours to do this as meetup uses poor and outdated system. I didn't set up events yet as more people are involved and we didn't have appointments yet. I didn't publish the groups, just set them up.
Today meetup just erased the groups and hours of my work informing me that the groups didn't align with community guidelines. Nobody reached out. Very disappointed. Just paid almost $400 for that.

"At least it's not Facebook"

I'm an organizer. While it works, it's not the best.
For example, when I had an iPhone, the app would time out 50% of the time, which made it pretty much useless. No problem on Android or the website though. I wish they had focused on that instead of redesigning the website.
Then you got the new "feature" of being automatically put as "going" for any event you make, even if you don't put yourself as the host, is non-sensical and annoying. Literally thought it was a bug at first and contacted them, to be told it was intentional (although they could not argue why it was better).

It is a very useful app to reach new people. But it is expensive for a lot of people, and I'm sure more people would make groups if there was a fee per group instead of >100€/year for 3 by default (or more with Pro).
As my friend always says, "its only remeeding feature is that it's not Facebook".

Look you had a price increase for a wonky app, then you were sold off and now the app doesn't even work. I have error messages trying to renew things and or your app clashes. and now I will lose my group event though I have been trying to get help and or I get is this silly stupid AI response. For a meetup company with human interaction supposed to be at its core, you are killing your own motto

Do not use free trial

Do not use free trial. They send an email saying your trial is over, the link to cancel the subscription doesn't work, it simply tries to make you pay again. Very hard to cancel, do not want to be CHARGED after signing up to a "FREE" trial! Scam
