Worst car company on the planet

Worst car company on the planet. I got my 2019 MG3 in 2022 from the Redditch dealership where the customer service was bad from the get go. Having valued my part exchange up and me agreeing to the price they said, on the day of signing contracts they waited until I signed all my contracts for the car to then tell me that they was no longer buying the mini off me as part exchange meaning I had to rush around and take a lowball offer from webuyanycar. Then the car itself has started rusting and has electrical faults. Rusting should not be happening to a car of this age and the faults I have tried to get sorted through warranty but keep getting fobbed off by them.
It's not good enough and would advise anyone to steer well clear from buying these useless heaps of metal.

This is why MG will forever associated with cheap car

I would just like to write a compliant on how poorly MG redditch customer and aftercare service was. My GS has had a fault in its ABS, and it has taken me 5 months to book an appointment to fix, but now its still not fixed. I have paid the diagnostic fee and still has got no way. Not to mention the receptionist Carly has been extremely rude, hang out on me and broke client confidentiality. As my car warranty company told them not to touch my car, she would just agree and without check this with me, so she has returned the part that was initially needed to fix my car.

At last, I just want to say I am tremendously disappointed, I know the car is not expensive, but the customer care service is so poor! I will make sure myself will never buy one more of these, and I will definitely recommend all my friends around not to make the same mistake as I have.

After making my third appointment, it was the second time they cancel the appointment on the same morning, making up so excuse, and to rebook the appointment again.

If your MG is broken, they will never fix it for you!

UPDATE -I am not interested in MG any more

I am not interested in MG any more.
Check parts pricing very carefully.
One Osram headlight bulb for my MG GS - 2016. UK MG dealer price £296 including VAT. (free fitting) I asked Gary Smart (MG UK customer care) for my complaint to be escalated.
His reply-"You were under no obligation to purchase a part, from an MG dealership.  The bulb is readily available at motor factors and local garages as it is a universal part used by many motor manufacturers.

When your travelling and your car is illegal with one headlight. you do not expect to be ripped off when in a vulnerable situation.
Gary Smart at MG customer care initially stated that "this is not our price and you would need to speak with your MG Dealership. They may have misunderstood your request".
I have the part and price list from the same MG dealer. The bulb and price are listed. Customer care at MG UK would not escalate my complaint on the extortionate pricing.
Customer care - Just don't care.
MG you are a disgrace

READ THIS URGENTLY

Hi,

This is about MG 5EV. There are a number problems including minor ones:

1) Temperature shows in F. Why in F in the UK? We are not in the US. This is fixed quickly.
2) Left head bulb connector was burnt and it was causing the head bulb go off and on frequently. This is not fixed for 56 days as the part ordering and delivery is too slow. My turtle would have brought it quicker.
3) Ev charging component was faulty, I was told. That is why I was told to leave the car there as it is unsafe to drive. This was bullshit. It was just software update. Software update would not have caused me to leave the car there for 56 days. I simply don’t believe it.
4) No MG cars or no Nissan cars can charge in Tesla charging points. Any other brands can charge in Tesla chargers. Do you know why? Tesla had told me this before. I did not beleive it but it came out true. Because MGs and Nissan cars require software updates. Guess what? You have to pay £175 to use Tesla chargers. IF ALL CHARGERS IN THE MARKET UPDATES THEIR CHARGERS TO THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF TESLA CHARGERS, THEN YOU WILL HAVE MGs and NISSAN cars as your toy cars. Nostalgically, you will tell your grandsons/daughters that Once upon a time, I used to be able to drive that MG car. That brand new like car!!!

I DO NOT SAY BUY OR NOT TO BUY. YOU KNOW WHAT YOU SHOULD DO BEST.

DO NOT BUY A DANGEROUS CAR THAT STARTS UP ITSELF

I will keep this very brief. I have a 9 month old MG ZS that has been starting up without a key in the ignition or anyone in the car. Last week it crashed itself into an adjacent structure. I have been in dialogue with MG Customer Services who have told me to claim on my own insurance. A dangerous situation and a truly awful example of customer service.

I had the second year service carried…

I had the second year service carried out yesterday on my MG4 by Bristol North Drive Vauxhall.
I have to say that I was less than impressed. Although I arrived on time at 08.30, the car was not touched until after 12pm. And the service which was mostly a visual inspection cost me £240 for about 1.5 hours.

The individual who I first spoke to about the service was not at all helpful giving me all the excuses under the son as to why I couldn't have this or that carried out. And that was despite the fact I had bought the car from there.

If there was another MG dealer locally, I would certainly not use Bristol North.
They really do need to learn something about customer service because they seem to have the view that they are doing you a favour.
£240 for less than 2 hours is terrible value.

Poor Customer Service

MG is on the front foot trying to get me to part exchange my MG for a new car (not that the dealer offers are any good) but provide a shocking service as an existing customer. I cannot wait for my PCP contract to end and return the car!

Cars from Temu

A bit like a Craig David song. Took delivery on Monday. (With 137 miles on the clock). Drove it Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday, broke down Friday. That’s not a joke. In the dealership by Saturday. I can’t chill on Sunday as I’ve another car to source.
Will be invoking my right to reject within 30 days. Remember that everyone. Consumer Rights act 2015. You have 30 days to reject and don’t even have to give them the opportunity to fix it. Every imaginable warning flashed up.
This not working, that not working, stop driving. Won’t go up hills, takes about 20 seconds to get to 60 (that’s no joke either when you’re joining a motorway at 40mph)
The car is a complete shambles. Now on to the dealership. The one I have taken it to is in Aylesbury. The most unhelpful dealership you’ll ever deal with. I had a Ford once. Took it to them. No help whatsoever. The whole franchise seems to run the same no matter what make you have. Apparently MG at this franchise doesn’t take “recoveries”. And has a four week window to even look at it. So that’s the maintenance contract also cancelled.
With so many faults within 200 miles, I’d be stupid to keep it. Buyer beware. Your typical Chinese mass made pile of junk.

MG4 Long Range Trophy is the worst car…

MG4 Long Range Trophy is the worst car I’ve had.

Look up MG4 Lane Assist … it’s in constant suicide mode.

Sat nav often freezes, today we missed so many turns then resorted to google maps.

Steering wheel buttons stop working frequently.

Reported range is far higher than actual - even in full eco / energy save mode and driving as efficiently as possible.

HVAC controls are a ridiculously silly design.

And about another 20 things.

This car could have been amazing with 5% more effort…

The worst company I’ve EVER dealt with.

I’m yet another disgruntled customer of MG. What makes them particularly bad is the aftercare, the actual avoidance of it, rather than it being amateurish or rubbish. It’s actually cynical.

I have an MG HS PHEV which has been plagued with numerous minor faults from day - but became significant. Basically the Aircon failed and the battery drained constantly, requiring a new one, and then wrecked the second one.

Took it to Arnold Clark MG Liverpool. who also play a significant role in awful customer service. They’ve broke the car in their own workshops, decided they can’t fix it because they don’t have level 4 tech service and try to palm off the car to other dealerships. One of which point blank refused to touch it, citing, AC Liverpool's ‘handiwork’. Neither MG or the dealership will give me a courtesy car. Because both are blaming each other. The dealership in turn say MG refuse to give customers courtesy cars when requested. Can you imagine someone like Honda or BMW behaving this way? I can’t. I bitterly regret buying the car. I won’t use either company ever again. If MG get repeat custom it’s through sheer luck. Should anything go wrong. Expect nothing from them.

My husband and I brought a all …

My husband and I brought a all electric MG, thinking we was doing good, we was pleased to start with, had it six months, then the brakes started with a very high pitch noise, took it to garage, said about the weather, but did change the brakes, got the car back, and what happened started again, this time we have been told its us the way we drive, we have had a curtesy car while ours has been in garage they have not made this noise,
Ipswich garage the manager is now avoiding my husband , we are not happy.

Wish we’d seen these reviews first…!

Had the same experience as the recent review from James. Wish I’d read the Trust Pilot reviews for MG itself rather than Nathaniel specifically. Tells you all you need to know. 1 star across a huge number of reviews.

The Nathaniel reviews are skewed as people are reviewing when they buy, rather than when the problems arise as they inevitably will. Also, they do a considerable amount of trade through Motability, so it’s easy to be happy with your new car when someone else is paying for it!

We tried to get a recent problem with our MG (one of many) rectified by a different very well-known garage who told us they have nothing but trouble with MG and often struggle to source the components as reputable suppliers won’t touch them due to the awful quality. So if you won’t believe me or the other reviews on Trust Pilot, please save yourself a world of grief and listen to the professionals.

Also worthy of note is that the Chinese Communist Party only grant operating licenses to businesses who consent to be contractually obliged to provide data on demand to the government. You’re going to be connecting your mobile phone with all your most personal data to a Chinese system. Are you confident in the security of that? The UK government won’t allow Huawei to provide any of the country’s 5G infrastructure for this very reason.

Buyer beware!

Buyer beware!

Dangerously poor quality components.

Further to my previous review cataloguing a series of faults born of the inferior quality Chinese components and engineering, (cruise control seizing whilst on, multimedia screen freezing rendering temperature controls inoperable, window and door mirror controls becoming inoperable in the heat) - somehow the situation has actually become worse.

Our MG HS Exclusive recently went in for its 2 year service having covered a mere 12,000 miles, for me to be told the rear brake discs were “severely corroded” and the pads 95% worn. For pads to wear to this level after 12,000 in such a vehicle would be unusual, but for discs to deteriorate to this degree is unheard of. The service staff insisted there was no defect, and I trust their honesty and expertise, but that leads to the more worrying conclusion that it is simply down to the appalling quality of components used. When I asked the member of staff if this was the case, he diplomatically replied “it’s the way they’re made”, confirming my suspicion.

This level of wear and corrosion could have led to a catastrophic loss of braking. What’s worse is that they’ve sent me away with the car, telling me that it would pass an MOT, and effectively shrugged their shoulders and when I tried to record a complaint told me I can raise it with MG (rather than Nathaniel, who sold me the car and service it) if I have an issue with the quality. So they’ve left me with a family car that is plainly unsafe to drive after coming out of their garage and a near £500 to rectify a problem caused by MG’s use of the cheapest possible and clearly insufficient quality components.

Upon making a complaint in writing, which they’ve yet to acknowledge, they explained that this rapid deterioration in the pads and discs is due to the car being kept outside overnight in the cold and damp, so the brakes cannot clean the surface corrosion that builds up. This abject nonsense doesn’t explain the fact that the front pads and discs are pretty much as new, or that every other car kept outside doesn’t see its brakes deteriorate anywhere near this quickly.

Please don’t make the same mistake we did in falling for the seemingly great value and slick presentation and interior. They are selling a product that they know is of grossly inferior quality.

I’d like nothing more than to put this disastrous ownership experience behind us and sell the car back, but can’t give as it’s dropped so precipitously in value. Their sales chap suggested I sell it on Facebook! Says it all really. To be fair, as a sales platform Facebook would probably be commensurate with the quality of the vehicle.

MG previously replied saying the issues had been looked at and resolved. What they mean by that is that they were unable to detect a fault so just gave it back to me to wait for this safety-critical fault to reoccur.

Please don’t be fooled. You’ll regret it. The positive reviews on here appear to have been made at the point of purchase before the inferior quality of the components have manifested in dangerous faults. I think potential buyers ought to know what they’re letting themselves in for in the long-run.
