I received a gift card for almost 4000$ to spend at Michael Hill. First thing, the manager looked at me and my partner, or should I say scanned us from head to toes and told us he would have to check the authenticity of the gift card.
When they realised it was true, they became extremely polite. I've already choose some items online so I started to give them a list. The manager mentioned buying some diamonds as, apparently, my choices were not expensive enough to him.
That day I ordered my wedding ring, more than 5 months prior to the wedding. The lady taking care of us started to fill the form to get the ring resized when I mentioned that we had the same issue for my engagement ring and it had to be ordered as it could not be resized that small. She guaranteed me it could be done.
Time goes and I didn't hear from the shop about my wedding ring so I decided to go to the store. My ring was there, they haven't notified me, and of course it couldn't get resized so needed to be ordered. Another few long weeks later, as the wedding is approaching and I still haven't heard of my ring, and as they failed to contact me the first time, I popped into the store again. The person behind the counter couldn't find any sign of my ring order. None. Just a few weeks before the wedding and a few months after full payment for the ring. They ended up sorting it on time but the management of our sale was very bad.
A few days ago I ordered a necklace online as I am trying to avoid going into their stores. My order got cancelled without any explanation (item still available online). I decided to go to the store to get something sorted. I show the sales person the item I'm after from their website. She turns around and starts to offer me different items, and I keep telling her that this is the one I want, pointing at my phone, but she keeps bringing other item.
Then she offers me to buy diamonds. They must have an obligation to ask that specific question as it's always coming back. I'm here for the one item only so I say no thanks. Come to the payment and I show my gift card with the original amount on it. She then tells me AGAIN to look at diamonds.
I still have some money on the gift card (but not enough for diamonds though) and that's the only reason I would return to the store.
Got a pair of earrings as a gift, the clasp is too small can't wear them. My husband purchased the warranty and asked for a gift receipt. The salesperson never mentionned the policy of no return or exchange on earrings. My husband went back to get another style that fit, then we both went back to show the sales person and manager why the earrings don't fit. The salesperson even told us he remembered my husband and that he did not mentionned the policy. Rude manager, Never offered any remediation.
Bought engagement ring for nearly $5000, then a few years later after we had separated I went to jewellers to sell it only to be told, and shown, that it was a "brown diamond" and was offered $100 for the gold band,! Got the same response at 3 jewellers. Good one, taking $5000 for a diamond with no value
I walked in today, to purchase a watch, at the Robina store (Gold COAST) and was completely ignored by the staff members. (3 in total) So I waited, I was the only one in the store!!! along with another couple who were being served, by two of the sales staff, one of them, who was offering no assistance, just regaling all within earshot of how she had moved from Perth!!! A couple walked in and were immediately served, by the garrulous sales assistant who turned out to be both rude and flaccid!!!! I walked out in disgust and purchased a Seiko presage at another store, that at least showed a modicum of care.
The Rudeness and hubris of the staff in particular (garrulous sales assistant) speaks for itself, a missed sales opportunity, with many others missed, no doubt, and many more to come. Michael Hill Robina, you need to have an attitude adjustment!!! You are not selling Rolexes!!! (Where they can afford to treat people a little more selectively due to supply and demand) Seiko's although a good watch, they can be bought from any street corner!!!! As they are not a premium brand at this price point!!!! Hence my very quick purchase!!!!! cya!!!!!!!!! :)
Chadstone, VIC store has the worst customer service. They only want to serve you if you purchase the item on that day. They are pushy and extremely rude. Went to purchase an item as I was told they have a lot of variety and left really upset.
Ive purchased many lovely pieces from various outlets over the years so it was very disappointing when the 1 time a gold chain that I purchased, Pacific Fair Gold Coast, a few months earlier broke. I went to the store and a very dismissive person said Id have to pay for it as I obviously had mistreated it! There was no warranty and as I hadn't purchased their very expensive "care plan" they could give me a quote to fix it. Very poor service, disappointing product.
You pay extra for next day shipping but It takes them 7 business days to ship the product. To add to that they also charge for returns after you missed Christmas since they conveniently hid the fact that it takes over a week to ship the item. AVOID!
I have made two large purchases with Michael Hill in Canberra and Belconnen and both have been great experiences.
Having had experience working in jewellery myself, I was impressed with the retail assistant's knowledge and customer service skills.
Both times I had to send the ring away for resizing, and both times it was either included in the purchase price or free. I loved not being dropped with "another cost" as I have with other jewellers.
Highly recommend the teams and stores in Civic and Belco. Thanks!
