There were also concerns regarding product quality and warranties, with many feeling that the company did not meet expectations. Disgusted

My husband who never shops bought me an Emerald and Diamond Princess cut ring for our 20th wedding anniversary. Firstly when he ordered the ring they showed him a picture of a bright green Emerald ring but when he picked it up in October 2023 you could hardly tell that it was actually a Emerald, is so pale. Five months later a stone fell out, so I took it back and they basically said tough luck, they would send it off for a quote to get it repaired at our cost. I had warn my ring maybe 30 times as they advised that Emeralds were a soft stone, so I was always worried about wearing it.
Shame on you Michael Hill for the disgusting service. My wedding ring that was purchased from Angus and Cootes a diamond Princess cut design as well and 20 years later is still perfect. I would never step foot in a Michael Hill Jewellers again. I will also be advising anyone and everyone I know NOT to buy from the terrible Michael Hill Jewellers.

Cheap, inferior products

Bought a gift for my friend kept it for Christmas. A bracelet for about $400 in the Sales gave it for Christmas Day. She’s wanted it a few times since within 2 1/2 weeks the braces been starting to break brought it back to Strathpine where I got it from. They sent her away the first time, so she went back again.. and then this time they took it for her for a few weeks sent it off. Apparently we repaired and they want $240 to repair something that was worn about four or five times in 2 1/2 weeks.. got Back an email today from their so-called customer service to say that they will not stand over it even though it’s within the 12 month warranty

Talk about a horrible company that can’t upkeep to their own statement.
Thank you for ruining Valentine’s Day for my partner, not only did I choose express shipping which should’ve arrived yesterday or today, alongside ensuring customers that if they ordered before 11:59pm last Friday they assured we would receive our delivery’s before Valentine’s Day, yet my order hasn’t even been packaged nor delivered and Valentine’s Day is tomorrow alongside getting informed that if it was delivered today I would probably not receive it tomorrow. Normally I’m understanding but this is actually disgusting no excuse or reason as to why just a “you’ll get it when you get it” attitude, so thank you for being a useless company who can’t upkeep to your own morals, I will not be purchasing from you lot again

THEY SWAPPED MY RING!!!

THEY SWAPPED MY RING!!!
I sent my rings in to be rhodium plated, and picked one up 2 weeks ago, and the other today. Looking at my Solitare ring today, I noticed it looked different. At some point my ring was NOT the same one returned to me. I have checked the numbers on the diamonds compared to my original purchase certificate, and they are DIFFERENT. The manager said "they are the same financial value". I couldn't care if it was 3x bigger. It is NOT the ring my husband proposed to me with. DISGUSTING customer service, the manager was getting mad at me? I had to force her to take photos of my original paperwork and escalate it to her regional manager to find a solution. I am mortified that I have someone else's ring and someone has mine. The sentimental value is irreplaceable.

Michael Hill refused to honour a $500 gift card.

December 2023
Michael Hill refused to honour a $500 gift card, my question is how much does Michael Hill collect per year by not honouring, lost, damaged, or out of date cards.
UPDATE 25/01/2024
I contacted customer services

Sent 17/01/2024 Hi, Michael Hill
To recap, my partner received a $500 gift card for her 60th birthday on May 2020, during the next 3 yrs she had bouts of poor health and of course as you know Victoria had the most lock-downs in all of Australia. (262 days between March 2020 -October 2021.Last August or September 2023 we went to Michael Hill (Chirnside Park branch) to be told in a rather curt manner by the aged assistant, that the gift card had expired, I pointed out the lockdowns etc and she barked back that they had been open for a year since Covid ( so 1 year of 3 was available to shop) As we are both classed as vulnerable we barely left the house during covid, anyway I had to insist I speak to the manager, who was as helpful and courteous as he could be, after making some calls all he could suggest was contacting head office and look up consumer laws. We did write to customer services who sent a standard reply of 'out of date gift card, can't help. Not really good enough in my opinion as we were floored that the expiry date would not/ could not be extended under the unique circumstances. I will add the whole family chipped in towards the gift card for a special 60th birthday.
Hopefully the card can be extended as a gesture of goodwill.
Yours sincerely
Edward
After another refusal to help us I looked up consumer law and found this.

''Consumer Rights
There are certain situations where the rights of a consumer may be affected. As a business owner, you must ensure that the consumer is protected.

For example, suppose you must close or temporarily restrict your trading for an extended period. In that case, you should provide some form of remedy so that the consumer can still use the gift card. This includes extending the gift card expiry date to cover the period recipients could not use the card.

Another example is when you have purchased a business where the previous owner issued gift cards. As the new business owner, you should still honour existing gift cards, especially if you have purchased the business as a ‘going concern’.
Still they won't help- this is not their money it belongs to our family, to me it is tantamount to theft.
I would give no stars if I could- disgraceful!!!

Customer loyalty not valued

I have bought the majority of my jewelry from Micheal Hill over the last forty odd years and I purchased my eternity ring from Micheal Hill a few years ago great service love/loved the ring. A few days ago noticed that a diamond had gone missing.. upsetting but manageable right?

Went back to Micheal Hill to get a quote thinking band of small diamonds maybe 20 so very blingy but replacing one shouldn't be to bad.
The total purchase price was around three thousand dollars and to replace the small diamond was quoted as sixteen hundred dollars over half the cost of the entire ring.

Queried the breakdown and was advised that the majority of the cost is labor? But when queried further they would not tell how much was labor or how much was stone.

Needless to say not getting them to replace the missing stone and will not purchase anything from them again as there was no "this is our ring let's get this sorted for you" I expected to pay for the stone, I expected to pay for labor I did not expect that the total would be over half the cost To replace the ring itself.

Domt recommend michael hill for your needs. They have the worst customer service and support if there is any. We bought a ring and didnt wear it for a day and has been with michael hill after it was damaged during resizing and has been gone for repair again and still not upto the mark. We asked for a refund now bcz it dosnt looks the way it shud be and is clearly visible. They wont give us the refund, neither do they have the capacity to repair their own caused damages. More than 2 months we have been fighting the store and the customer support in Canada and the US. Not a single solution that works. They jst took out money and dont care. Please go to some other store. Worst experience here. Completely worst. Dont let anyone tell you anything else. Dont buy!!

Poor services at Michael hill

Purchased earrings online and it does not go into the ears at all- means literally not at all, but because it was sold as advertised as no refund or exchange, the store said no. They started with big NONO at the store even before i finish my sentence (there was a one man who listens to my issue after all- thank you). Sure, because I realized it was no refund or exchange, i will pass the exchange wishes, it is not the problem. But seriously, it would been really appreciated if store asked and tried to listen what the issue was first. I believe it is common manner for representatives to provide general apologies (doesn’t mean you are wrong or bad) for the unfortunate event with their product and maybe even inform that they will make possible notes to the company to not make it happen again (and for the other clients). Don’t you think? Wouldn’t you do that if you are the business owner?? Or it is just their service quality.

JUST A FANCY NAME FOR BAD PRODUCTS AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

This store does not even deserve a zero, I will give them -5 ratings. Their customer service ladies have no compassion. Its all about their commission. They will sell you crap to make a few bucks.
My wife recently bought me a ring before Christmas and when i got it on Christmas day, it was too small for my finger. We decided to return back to Yorkdale location where she purchased it. Once we entered the store, the reception was very terrible because they are not in the habit of taking returns or exchanges.
We explained to the sale rep that the ring is too small and we will like to size it from a 10 to 12. Then they said it cant be re-sized and they will rather order another one and it will take 6 weeks to arrive.( They should have said it cant be resized before they took my money ) .I didn't want to wait for 6 weeks and i decided to return it for a full refund. Once they heard my intention to return it for a full refund, they miraculously found a scratch on the ring which they didnt see earlier. This company is fraud and they sell crappy jewelry to unsuspecting customer. They sell you floor model that has been tried by the whole world and when you try try to return it, they say its scratched and they wont take it back. In other words, the scratch is not an issue unless you want your money back. Even though , most of the rings and bracelets on display had scratches all over them. And sadly , these same jewelry would be sold to other customers in a very bad condition because the lights in the store obscure the blemishes on their bad products.
They have a bad business practice and terrible customer service. NEVER SHOP HERE!! Waste of money and precious time.

BAD EXPERIENCE

I would rate my experience as ZERO if I could. I purchased a pair of earrings today. I decided to return them 2 hours later (still in the Mall). The sales person that sold them to me said that they are nonrefundable. She said "I told you that". She was lying. They are very sneaky. Instead of handing the receipt to the customer, they place it in a small envelope. I waited for 30 minutes to speak to the manager, who was with another customer. When she was finished, she told me that I could not return them.

Terrible Product

I purhased a $1699 wedding ring set in 2023 which has now completely worn under the basket. We opted to pay extra for the warranry which is not worth the paper its written on. We have been told by Michael Hill that the ring is unrepairable. What an absolute joke and I would stay well clear of purchasing anything from this company. I emailed them with a complaint and of course it was ignored. I am extremely angry that a ring can wear out just by it sitting on yoir finger.

I ordered Diamond Accent Sleep Earrings in 10kt Yellow Gold. They have arrived and are so small they would not fit an adult persons earlobes. The advertising called them Sleepers so one would assume they are meant to fit ears. On calling your customer service, I am told too bad so sad no refund or exchanges as all because I have tried them on.
I would not even try. $207.00 down the drain. I will never shop with you again. Your no return Policy is ridiculous. honestly.

Diamond lifetime warranty worth nothing

Diamond lifetime warranty isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. I have had issues with my engagement ring for years! The diamond fell out multiple times. Each time I was lucky not to lose the diamond and took it for repairs. I raised concerns numerous times, that I thought there was a fault in the design or that the number of repairs had weakened its structural soundness. My concerns were always brushed aside and I was told it was to be expected when a ring reaches 10 years. After having the claw built up and repaired in July after it had broken off. I told the store I was scared to wear it, they laughed it off and told me it was sound and would get another ten years wear without issue. Four weeks later, the recently repaired claw had snapped off completely below the repair and the diamond lost. I was told it was outside of general wear and tear and that the manufacturer warranty on the ring had expired, so they wouldn’t replace my diamond. They had admitted that every repair weakens the metal, yet it’s apparently my problem and that I must have knocked it! I hadn’t worn it until my wedding anniversary after the repair! It broke after a day! They have no loyalty to customers that do the right thing and follow protocol. I will NEVER buy from Michael Hill ever again. I am devastated. Now I have to go and collect my broken engagement ring. I’ll be taking it to an outside jeweller for assessment. Michael Hill, shame on you!

I bought a $500 gift card for my partner in May 2020, because of Covid and lockdown followed by some health issues, she didn't get to use it till November 2023, to be told it expired and no extension allowed because of Covid. Almost as bad was the attitude of the old shop assistant at Chirnside Park, who was very dissmissive and was even reluctant to get the manager. The upshot is- they have stolen my $500- disgusting!!!!
