App was terrible

Went on a weekend away and their car park was the closest to the hotel. Parked there for both days and tried to pay on the app the night before so that I wouldn't get a fine the next day. On my last day got to the car only to find a fine from the council. The app asked me to authorize the payment on my banking app, which I did but the payment never went through which led to the fine. If the app was easier to use then this would not have happened.

Utterly Dreadful app

Utterly Dreadful app - kept refusing booking or payment as the red “no return within 1 hour” warning was constantly preventing payment. Managed to pay the same amount required but for a different car park nearby via app after the event as had to rush to work or get in major trouble - but will presumably now receive endless threats of non-payment bailiff visits in the coming months…😡

If I could give my appalling experience…

If I could give my appalling experience zero stars it would be more accurate!
So, I'm in a council car park in Bath, I've never seen MiPermit before, so I make the mistake of scanning the QR code on the parking payment machine to download the app, as the notices suggest you should. My advice - whatever you do, avoid this fundamental mistake. Pay by cash.
If you want to put the MiPermit app on your phone, do it from the Appstore or Google play at home in your own time.
However, not knowing that I was stepping into an Orwellian nightmare, I scanned the QR code. After a series of rapid screen changes which, looking back, might be designed to confuse people, my phone shows a screen saying I could accept an offer to "pay £0.01 now and a monthly service charge of £29.50 unless cancelled (within a certain time)...."
Clearly this has nothing to do with car parking, it is an advert for some weird and not-so-wonderful "service" that I neither wanted nor understood - something about a comedy club. This amounts to a scam, pure and simple.
Why did this happen? Was the QR code a stuck-on piece of plastic with a scammer's QR code - various consumer bodies have warned about this. Did I somehow download a false "App" produced by scammers from the scammers' website? I don't know. The point is this: somehow, after scanning the QR code I got into a right mess, and if it can happen to me it can happen to anyone. I am not a naïve phone user and I don't see myself as gullible, but in this situation (time pressure, guests waiting for me to get the parking sorted, having a deadline for the show we were going to see, etc) I fell for some scam or other.
Things then got worse. I eventually decided I'd deal with the consequences of that mistake later, and get the parking ticket... of course I still thought I was on the genuine MiPermit site... but by now my phone had moved on to "enter registration number" - which I did. By now, I had no idea what I was actually looking at! After a lot of spinning circles the message came back "car not found". Sure enough, whatever I was looking at then presented me with another "offer" like the previous one, except this time it was charge of £0.01 now and then £49.50 a month unless cancelled. I wonder how many people are taken in by this when trying to download a genuine app.
And the outcome? I gave up and paid by cash. I checked my bank card next day - nothing. Thought I'd got away with it. The following day, my bank sent me a message: "card payment stopped / text Y if this was a charge made by you". And sure enough, it was the £29.50 charge mentioned in my first attempt to pay. The bank clearly know this is a charge from scammers. The solution that seemed best to me was to simply closed down that bank card and get a new one, which is what I did.
If only I'd paid in cash!

Devizes council take note

On a recent trip to Devizes while on holiday I parked in a MIPERMIT controlled car park.
I installed the app, inputted all the required data and paid with a credit card. So far so good, but the app then said the transaction had not been successful and to try again.
I checked my credit card account and the payment had left my account.
I tried to call the helpline and had to give up as nobody answered.
I got into my car and drove out of Devizes as I wasn't going to waste more money on car parking in the town and spent my money elsewhere. Completely unexceptable for a council to use a company this poor.

Do not bother to phone

Do not bother to phone; they will not answer. Do not email, they will not respond. Go directly to your council, they can sometimes get through.

Discriminating system. Inhuman rude dead heartless staff

Just spoke to a woman to resolve an issue regarding my elderly parents. The woman kept talking over me. She was rude, unconscious, shockingly inhuman, cold and ignorant. What a rotten service. What a disgusting system of dead heartless staff who have no manners, no ability to speak in a civilised way. She even refused to let me speak to a manager. This system is discriminating against the elderly members of this society. This is not equality. This system is set up to push the elderly out and rip them off only because they cannot access emails and laptops, but will happily take their money off them. Shameful system. Low, low service. Shame on this rip-off comapny or whatever it is.

App is a scam

App is a scam. I tried to pay via the mipermit app. The bank transaction went through, still the app showed an error and didn't proceed. I had to pay at the machine.

Basically they couldn't give a toss.

Basically they couldn't give a toss.
Tried to renew a permit for my car nothing had changed not my address or vehicle but Norwich City council had outsourced permit issue to this incompetent company. It was refused despite taking my money of £103 they claim the council had refused my application. The council claim that they had nothing to do with the application. Talk about catch 22. A bit of common sense needs to be applied. Very poor customer service and inflexibility of the staff.

Tried to renew my parking permit!!!

SEE UPDATE ADDED TO END. Tried to renew my parking permit. royal borough of Windsor have changed to mi permit. Went through all the registering for an account, gave them all my proofs of residency, personal stuff etc. (not knowing anything about them, but what choice is there if I want to park legally?) Then the stupid set up kept refusing me saying I can't have a permit. 3 long phone calls to the council later being given advice on what to try, I called back and the parking department decided to do it themselves. I did it all as requested, it seems I just got refused, no reason. They said it wasn't a common problem and just me. (Immediately I thought of the post office scandal and how those poor people were told they were the only ones!) Now I have to go through it all again to buy some visitors permits. What a pain and a waste of the councils and my time. Just to save a pittance of doing it in house themselves. We are the ones that have to pay and put up with it.
Ps I have gone back to mi permit to buy visitor parking vouchers. I sign in ok to my permit, the next page says 'this permit type is not available on your account', it will not let me go any further. I guess I've got to start making more calls to the councils customer service. Although that's not much help because they go back and forth asking the parking department what to do, then there's still no way for me to fix it!
UPDATE.. eventually got rbwm parking team to sort out my residents parking permit (I thought). Paid for my permit and it shows on mi permit account with its reference Nbr. UNFORTUNATELY for me, the local parking wardens don't know about it, they stick a fixed penalty notice to the car every day. Rang rbwm again but customer services say I need to challenge each new fine. You can do it (they said) by filling in the details online. I went to do it and found it's one of those automated chat bots. I filled it all in and the last question was 'explain briefly what the problem is'. The chat box does not understand my answer no matter how I word it, it just keeps saying to try again, which I did about ten times. So I filled in the email enquiry about it instead and sent it, then it said it can take 10 days to respond!!!!
Parking fines are piling up and I have to send another email each day with each new fine. RBWM and miPermit are designed to drive people nuts with their stupid automated systems. I wonder if they are trying purposely to take cars off the roads?

Had permit for few years, but yesterday started having large payments taken from bank account using card details, bank has, traced it back to mipermit on 15th may, they started trying to pay 3 different councils on that day, moved onto trying to pay for hotels, jewellery and loads of other things about £10k luckily bank didn't authorise these, but yesterday they started to go through bank account, wish bank had alerted me over a month ago when this was happening, bank has refunded all money now, but doesn't stop the stress it caused!

Awful software - doesn't work properly. Avoid using.

Used Mipermit in Worthing. We have 2 cars registered. I definitely selected the correct car reg for the parking payment, but when I returned the car had a parking ticket. On re-entering the mobile app, the software had allocated the parking to the other car. With no receipt from the app, I have no proof.
Will try to pursue with them but from other people's comments don't hold out much hope! Will use cash in West Sussex coastal car parks in the future.

Sick of greedy parking companies

Company told me the council don't accept bank statement as proof of address. Got a ticket, rang the council, they said they do accept it as proof of address.

Like all parking companies, they don't care about people, just their revenue.

Money for old rope.
