DO NOT ORDER FROM

DO NOT ORDER FROM. Ordered a Proform treadmill which arrived broken. The motor was smashed in and the on/off switch completely pushed inside the motor. I emailed Modell's and a month later still no replacement and now that I've asked for a refund I've been blocked from their Facebook and receiving no return emails. This company is terrible. Don't order from them.

Paid full price for 1/2 my order

I order 2 baseball nets, I received only 1box. After many request for my second net yielded noting.
Crooks plain and simple. They blamed UPS but i have UPS records and video showing only 1 box was delivered.

400$$ down the drain

Ordered a 400$ piece of workout equipment and they only sent half of it. They've been giving me the run around for a month now and now tell me that I have to return the useless box that they've sent me in order to get store credit smh. Don't buy from these ripoffs, I wished I'd read reviews first.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE

I ordered two 25 pound Olympic plates online and instead was sent one 45 pound plate. I contacted the company and asked if they could send my correct order before I return the 45 pound plate and they told me they wouldn't send me my correct order until I mailed back the incorrect plate. I received horrible customer service and have been emailing back and forth for over a month and have received virtually no help with my situation. Im not dragging a 45 pound weight to the post office because of a mistake they made. To make it even better, the return label they sent me is only for 25 pounds, so I would not even be able to use it anyway. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!!!!

Thieves. Plain and simple. Don't order you will lose your money.

Placed an order for a piece of cardio equipment that was $533 a week ago. Emailed them asking when it would be shipped was told within 5 to 7 days. Just got an email today that THEY are canceling the order because THEY cannot fulfill it and they are only issuing me a store credit for $533! I didn't cancel the item they did, I have paid for this item in full and am now out the money I dont want a store credit I want a refund to my original payment method. I didn't break any agreement they couldn't fulfill the order. Im livid. Now I cant afford to go elsewhere and also don't have the equipment I placed an order for. Im not dropping this and am thinking of calling the news station about it.

Awful and sketchy business

I prefer an item from them and had to end up shipping it back because it was awful material and my daughter didn’t like it. It was a Christmas present. So when I shipped back it was an average of $8. Which Modell’s told me I would not get that! My item purchased was $18 so I should’ve kept it. But it’s been 3 weeks and I got an email wanting my order number, 1 week later wanting my tracking number to verify that I shipped it back and now nothing! No refund! No email and I wrote to BBB And I hope I can get something done! Horrible and sketchy place! I’ll never order from them again!

Everything from the purchase to shipping was excellent! Item exactly as described brand new in box!!! Received before christmas which wasnt expecting, but definitely a plus. Thanks so much will purchase in the future. Very happy customer here.

A sketchy company!

A sketchy company. Don’t buy anything from them! It was my first time ordering something online and it’s gonna be the last. Unfortunately, I didn’t want to write a bad review so I called them to resolve the issue with my order but they didn’t care about it! Also, If you have an order, you will end up paying over $11 to ship it back for a return! Their policies need to be changed!!!!

Turned their back on me after 5 years

As a previous employee who worked his way up to manager I can tell you this company is not worth it. After busting my a** for 3 years I was promoted and moved to a different store where I was unfairly targeted and witness racism and harassment in greenburgh. Upon being moved to Cortlandt I was again left to the wolves with a half-a** management staff younger and more careless than you could imagine. Our GM got injured and was out for three months and I was left with the clown show for months without any help from the DM. I gave to weeks and left on good terms or so I though. 3 bogus write ups from the manager who targeted me and I am no longer rehirable. Just goes to show they will turn their back on anyone. Do not trust a word anyone says, especially Erin King. If you're reading this, apply or shop elsewhere...

Don’t bother ordering from here

Don’t bother ordering from here. The site states they have the size you ordered in stock, they take out the $$ from your account and then 4days after you submitted the order they send an email stating they no longer have the size in stock. The website shows the size is still available though! Oh, and it’ll take 3-4business days for you to get your $$ back.

Received Obviously Worn/Dirty Shoes

Received a pair of shoes that had obviously been worn. Dirty soles (soles are white, so was easy to tell), ripped tag from the inside of the shoes, and obvious dirt/debris on the outside of the shoe (shoe is black, so was easy to tell). Called to request a refund, after being on hold for several minutes and finally speaking to an agent, I was again put on hold and then was (maybe inadvertently, but still frustrating) hung up on. Called back, had to again wait on hold, again explain my situation to an unsympathetic agent, then received a pre-paid shipping label I had to print out and use to return the shoes, which I did the next day.

Final bad experience

I have tried, every time I get a bad experience either online or in the store (yes, I kept going back for more!), I go back and give them another shot. I am completely done with this unprofessional and completely untrustworthy company. The last straw for me, I picked up some items for my kids sports with my birthday coupon on a Friday. On Sunday, I was checking my account and noticed Modell's charged me twice for that transaction. $72.38 twice. I called them Monday morning to inquire. I was told they would send it to the Finance Dept and get a call back. Tuesday comes, no call so I call them 1:30 and was told they're still looking into it. I asked what time they leave today because I am calling back before they go and I am getting an answer. Right at the time I said I was following up with a phone call, they called me. Told me my account was immediately refunded on the Friday but because of weekend, it would take a few days to post. I was okay with that, why they couldn't tell me that Monday, no idea. So.....Thursday comes, I call my bank again and they still show no pending credits. I called Modell's yet again and this time I was not so courteous. Asked to speak to a supervisor and they refused to transfer. The girl pretended to be a supervisor and told me that because this was not a simple return, it would take up to 2 weeks to refund. Unacceptable. They stole money that wasn't theirs and they could take their sweet time to return?!! I can't grasp that. This should have been a priority, this was their "oops" and instead of immediately remedying the situation to keep a customer, like a simple call back to let me know they think it's a priority, they act like I was a nuisance which shows these "oops" happens more often then we know. After I told them how I felt about how untrustworthy they are, I was put on hold and then told to go to the store and they will give me cash. Priceless... I can't trust them, only if paying cash, that they won't double/triple or whatever charge me, and can't trust them to fix their mistakes promptly and mostly admit it! No, never again Modell's. And I will be sure to spread the word.

UPDATE: So, I went to the Modell's store to accept my money from the manager per Corporate. Let me say, Corporate should follow the professionalism and courteousness of their Store Associates. This is why i always had a hard time not shopping at store #00114, Toms River. This has not been the first time with a bad experience at the Corporate level, and I have never had a bad experience in the store, ever. Looking at past reviews, almost ALL of them, their bad experiences came from Corporate. Maybe they should re-evaluate their staff and management and train and hire them as they do their Store Associates. The lying and poor customer service is a disgrace.

My experience

My wife and I ordered a weight machine from Modell's last month. I ordered it on Memorial Day so I was not expecting it to ship out until the following day or even the day after that. Still, I figured that I would be able to pay for two-day shipping to get the order to me by the weekend so it was setup for the following week. Well, it did ship out two days after I ordered it, but this was still kind of factored in as a possibility in my calculations. That is why I paid for the extra shipping.

For whatever reason, they decided to ship it FedEx ground, which made delivery take over a week. After verifying that I indeed paid for expedited shipping, I reached out to Modell's for a refund since it was obviously not utilized for my order. The refund was granted with no explanation and no apology. My request for a refund of my base shipping charges as well, since I would never have ordered this had a known they would ship it when and how they chose, was denied.

When the machine finally showed up at our house, we opened the box to find some of the flat surfaces mangled and dented-in. What I found particularly interesting about this is that the packaging itself, including the braces used to package everything, were completely intact. This lead me to believe the item was packaged in the same condition, which is obviously also unacceptable.

After watching Mitchell Modell on Undercover Boss, I was actually really looking forward to supporting his company. Unfortunately, it was not a positive experience and I would like to help others avoid the same.
